2 Chronicles 12:8 Serving God Or Others

They will, however, become subject to him, so that they may learn the difference between serving me and serving the kings of other lands. 2 Chronicles 12:8

Working under different people can bring about different experiences. Each boss is a little different to a lot different. Often people switch jobs because one boss is difficult to work under. Once they switch, they find out the new boss is even more difficult to work under.

The old saying goes that the grass looks greener on the other side. People think that going to the other side will be better. However, that is not always the case.

Rehoboam had led the nation of Israel against God. God sent a message that they would be overtaken by Shishak. Immediately the king and the nation humbled themselves before God. God chose to not destroy them, but to make them serve the foreign king. He wanted them to learn the difference between serving Him and serving some foreign king.

Following God can cause one to have to make difficult choices at times. It is not always an easy path to follow, because there will also come persecution or ridicule. Although God has many commands, God is also a God of love, grace and mercy.

He works with the believer to help make the believer the best he can be through every situation in life. God is always right along his side to help him walk the path.

The world does not walk alongside of a person. They will support to a point, then leave him to fall or crush him to get on top.

Some believers think that it is better to serve some in this world, rather than trust and serve God in some situations. God will allow that to happen to let them see how their choice is a bad choice to make. They will see how the world will treat them in the end.

Doing this is one of God’s ways to get the believer to focus back on Him and serve Him.

Keep your focus on God and realize what you have in Jesus. You have a God who loves you and only wants what is best for you. The world only wants to destroy you and step on you in the end.

Do not choose to follow the world because it looks better. In the end you will be destroyed. Follow God and have eternal life.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will serve God alone; that you will keep your focus upon God; and that you will know the joy of serving God alone.
