2 Corinthians 13:8 Stand For The Truth

For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 2 Corinthians 13:8

Truth, for many throughout the world, is something that is considered relative. It depends upon the person, his beliefs, and the circumstances as to what is truth.

With this type of thinking, many are able to do things that are against the truth. There is a common refusal to believe that there is absolute truth and that one may know the absolute truth. As a result, those who believe in an absolute truth are ridiculed and put down.

Paul stated that he cannot do anything against the truth.

Standing for the truth is something that can be very difficult and costly at times. When the majority of those around a person is against the truth, it can hurt to go against the flow and stand for the truth.

One thing that makes a believer unique is that he is following Jesus, who claimed that He IS truth. Everything that Jesus and God has stated in the bible is full and complete truth. The bible has the answer of truth for every situation a person may face in this life.

The world is trying to pitch lies that there is no God, that one can have ‘fun’ and enjoy life without the restrictions God places upon man. Any believer who chooses to believe and follow the ways of the world is choosing the do something against the Truth–Jesus.

Each and every sin that a person may choose to do, is doing something against the truth. It is not living as God had intended one to live.

Although a believer may slip up and sin once in a while, it will not be his intended purpose to do so. He will strive to live as Jesus did and not do anything against Him. He will stand for The Truth.

Going through your life you have choices to make. God has revealed His truth to you in various ways. Now it is your choice as to whether you will live in that truth or live against it.

Knowing God’s word to you, ask yourself if what you are thinking, saying or doing is going against His truth or not.

Make it a conscious choice to not do anything against Jesus. Live your entire life in honor of Jesus because of what He did for you on the cross.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s truth in your life; that you will apply God’s truth to your life; and that you will never do anything against God’s truth.

James 5:8 Be Patient And Stand Firm

You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. James 5:8

Being patient is not something that most people are. Everyone wants things faster and faster, regardless of how fast it already is or how much faster it is now, than it was.

Along with being impatient, many people will not stand firm on anything. They will go with the flow that everyone else is flowing in. They want what everyone else has or wants.

As a result many people complain or grumble about everything not being fast enough. They jump from one thing to another trying to seek something better or faster.

James points to the people directly and tells them to be patient and firm. The reason is because the Lord’s coming is near.

It is very common for a believer to pray about some difficult situation in his life, then to suddenly take things into his own hands and make a mess of it, because God didn’t answer fast enough.

Believers are often just like the world at being impatient with God in situations. They want everything right now and grumble as the Israelites did in the wilderness when they don’t get it fast enough.

The Lord is on His way, both in the return to take every believer to heaven and in answering prayers. He will never do anything early or late, but in His perfect timing.

At the moment a believer is impatient with God and grumbles about it, he shows that he is not trusting God, His promises or timing. Instead of being anxious and complaining about it, the believer must trust in God’s timing and His promises to provide all that one needs.

God is always on His way to meet every need of every believer.

You will always have some struggles in life that you are seeking God’s help in. As you are praying and waiting for God to answer your prayers, do not allow yourself to become impatient and begin grumbling.

Instead of impatience and grumbling, praise God that He heard your prayers. Keep moving forward, knowing that God will answer your prayers in the perfect timing and the perfect way.

In doing this, you will have His supernatural peace over your life and you will see God do great and mighty things in your life until the day that Jesus returns or calls you home in eternity.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God hears your prayers; that you will know God answers all prayers; that you will have God’s patience; and that you will not grumble against God’s timing.

Matthew 10:22 Stand Firm

You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. Matthew 10:22

Very few people like to be hated, most people like to be liked. They want people to like them and will do just about anything to gain their favor and liking.

Watching posts on social media platforms, people get excited when the number of likes climbs higher and higher. It gives the impression that people really do like them. Yet, not everyone will like everyone. Some will hate others, regardless of what they do or don’t do.

As Jesus is sending the disciples out to be His witness, He tells them that they will be hated. Even though they are hated, they must stand firm in what they believe and are doing.

Even though nearly two thousand years have passed, people still hate true active believers. They hate because the message being proclaimed is offensive to the world. It tells the world there is a high standard to live by, that there is only one way to eternal life, that there is only one God, and that living in sin brings about death. People do not like to hear this.

Sadly, over the years, many believers and churches have changed the message to try and get people to like them. Often it is no longer about repentance, but feeling and looking good. This is not standing firm in what one believes and has been taught in God’s word.

Every believer needs to preach or speak the message Jesus taught. That message is that people need to repent of sins, change, and believe in and follow Jesus. When this is done, people will hate them, but it is what God desires. This is God’s will for every believer.

As a believer in and a follower of Jesus, you have the responsibility to share His message with this fallen world. Some will believe and follow Jesus, while many will hate you for it. Do not be surprised or hurt when they hate you, because they did the same to Jesus.

Do not give in to this world, but keep giving the message. Stand firm on the truth in God’s world and continue to live for God in His ways. As you stand firm, you will be saved in the end. With God you will win the battle.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be God’s true witness; that you will not fear the hatred of this world; that you will know God’s love for you; and that you will remain firm in God’s truth.

Ezekiel 22:30 Stand In The Gap

Gap in rock wall

I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the Land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. Ezekiel 22:30

There are people who are mediators that stand in between two people or groups of people to represent both. Their whole purpose is to help both groups out for each one’s best interest. It is helping the weaker one be able to move up and the stronger one to step down into agreement.

Doing something like this is a difficult job, because it requires understanding of both sides. Some will hate a person for doing something like this, because it may feel like it is going against their way of doing things.

God was getting ready to destroy the land. He searched for person who would stand in the gap for the land and the people. This person would plead for their cause and seek to restore them to God. However, God was unable to find anyone willing to do that.

Although God may or may not be getting ready to destroy a land or people physically, there is soon a coming day in which He will judge all people and destroy the earth. This is the final judgement against sin and every person will be judged.

He is still looking for someone to stand in the gap. This person is what Jesus called the witness. Everyone who follows God is to be His witness to everyone else he meets. Being the witness is standing in the gap letting the people of this world know that there is a coming judgement. This judgement can be escaped by believing in and following Jesus with all of their heart and life.

Sadly, many in the church do not want to stand in the gap. They want God to judge and destroy the world and their enemies.

You have a choice to make. God is calling you to be His witness. He is calling you to stand in the gap for the people.

As His witness you are His representative upon this earth. You are also their representative before God. You can plead their challenges and struggles before God to bring the walls down in their lives. You can plead for God to change their heart and call them towards Him. This is standing in the gap for the lost.

Are you standing in the gap for others today?

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be His witness to this lost and dying world; that you will stand in the gap before God for the lost; and that many will come to Jesus and be saved through your stand.
