Revelation 6:11 Wait A Little Longer

Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed as they had been. Revelation 6:11

Problems occur in the lives of every person on the earth. When these problems occur because of the acts of someone else, people want to see vengeance brought upon the other person. They want to see the other person punished.

One thing people ask is how long it will take to punish the offender. Punishment is expected to be expedient.

In a vision, John sees an angel open seven seals. After the fifth seal was opened, he saw souls of those who had died because of their belief, and they wanted to know when they would be avenged. They were given a white robe and told to wait until a certain number of then had been killed.

It is common for people who have become believers to believe that life will become easier as a believer. It is expected that all problems will go away.

However this is not true. Jesus promised troubles and that people would be martyred for their belief in Him.

The world hates Jesus and God and any one who follows Jesus with a true heart. Satan will do whatever he can to stop every believer, including murder.

God is patiently watching what is going on and keeping record of what evil people are doing to believers. Those who do evil against His people are only storing up a record for His wrath to be poured out upon.

At the right time, Jesus will return and get the vengeance against those who harmed His people. Until that time occurs, believers will be killed. Every believer needs to be willing to stand strong and true to God, despite the troubles that they may and will face.

God sees every trouble that you are going through. He knows exactly who is doing you harm.

Do not worry or fret over what others are doing or have done to you, God is watching. At the right time He will call each of those people into account and get His vengeance. His vengeance will be greater than anything you or anyone on this earth can provide.

Just as God is patient, be patient and wait just a little longer. In light of eternity, life on this planet is very, very short.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will trust God’s plan for your life; that you will know God will take vengeance for you; that you will have God’s patience in waiting for His next move; and that God will give you strength to continue to follow Him through any troubles that come your way.

2 Timothy 4:7 Keep Going Until You Finish

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

Physical races are common all over the world. People run or race cars in races in order to win a prize. In order for someone to be good enough to win the first prize, he must work at it and keep running. He must fight against his body crying out for him to stop.

In the same way, there are also many other races that people have to run in life. However, when things get difficult, people give up the fight and stop running the race. They allow others to win the race.

Paul is evidently nearing the end of his life as he tells Timothy that he has fought the good fight and is finishing the race. He never gave up on the faith.

The greatest fight a person can fight is for the fight of his soul and the souls of other people. Living on this earth for God is a race against death and sin. The world does not want anyone to succeed in following God, because it goes against everything they believe.

The world will do whatever it can to stop a believer from following God. For the believer there is a race against time to keep in the race and to finish it. The finish line is when a believer dies.

Many people have succumbed to the pressures of this world to give up the race and quit the faith. They got weary and chose to stop running and fighting for their souls and the souls of others.

Every believer needs to look at what is at the finish line–eternal life. No one knows exactly where is finish line is, but he must never give up on the race and the fight until he crosses the finish line and wins the prize.

As you are going through life, the world will throw every thing it can at you to stop you from following Jesus. Do not give in to the pressure to stop. Do not give up what you know to be truth from God’s word.

Rely upon God strength to keep running and fighting the good faith for your soul and the souls of others. It won’t be long before you will cross the finish line and you don’t want to be caught short of finishing it well with God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will hold on to your faith in God; that you will fight against the temptation to sin against God; that you will keep running the race that God has called you to run; and that you will finish the race God has given you.

2 Corinthians 10:3 At War In A Different Way

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 2 Corinthians 10:3

In nearly every area of the world there is a war going on. Some are physical wars with guns and bombs at local, national and international levels.

There are also many wars that do not include physical fighting, but are trying to destroy other people. People lie, cheat, and slander other people and businesses in order to destroy them. Some do it just to destroy the competition, while others are just trying to become the best in their field.

Paul acknowledges living in world, but points out that believers do not wage war in the same way as the world does.

In the spiritual realm of life, there is a war going on. It is the war for the control and ownership of the souls of men and women. Satan and his evil forces are doing all they can to destroy the hearts and lives of every person they can, by whatever means they have available. The world fights in a dirty manner by lying, cheating, and stealing.

God also has His followers fighting in a war. It is a war for their soul. This war is not a physical fighting war or one out to destroy other people.

It is one with words that destroys actions and evil thoughts. It is pushing back temptation to sin against God. It is a war of loving one who is unlovable to change their hearts towards God. It is a war that reveals the lies and deception of the enemy and points people to the truth only found in Jesus.

While killing and lies do some destruction, the destruction is temporary. The battle of the believer destroys sin and brings about eternal life, lasting forever.

You are in the battle for your soul and for the souls of those around you. This battle is one to show people the way to eternal life.

The world does not want you to win this battle for yourself or for others and will do all it can to stop you. Choose to be on God’s side and wage war as He does with love and His living word.

Destroy the thoughts and actions of disobedience that the world promotes and live for God. Bring others to Jesus for salvation. God will win the war in the end. You will win, when you fight it God’s way.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know how God wants you to fight in this world; that you will fight for your soul and for others to be more like Jesus; and that God will use you to win the souls of others away from the world.

Luke 9:25 Gaining The Wrong Thing

Wealth & Death.jpg

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Luke 9:25

Jesus had just predicted His suffering and death. As He is talking to the disciples He tells them that they must deny themselves and take up their cross. Now He tells them that a person can gain the whole world, but still lose His soul. If that happens it is of no value.

Everyday people all around the world go to work to make more money. There are many that will put in long, extra hours in order to purchase or own something that they desire.

People will go to college, earn a great degree so that they can make a lot of money, so that they do not have to work so hard. Then they get the job they desire and as the money starts to roll in, they work extra long over-time hours to get even more money for more stuff.

Others may not be working so hard for the fancy stuff, but are focused on working hard to get a large fancy retirement. Either way many of those people are working hard to gain something that does not last for eternity, all those things are only temporary. They are working for self and saving themselves in this world. They do not look to life after death.

As they work hard, many do not work on their own souls. They do not work for what lasts for eternity. A person can have everything there is in this world, but when he dies, he loses everything, including life, if he does not have a relationship with Jesus.

The things that last for eternity are not the physical things of this world, they are the souls of people. This includes all people including yourself.

As a believer, you must be willing to turn away from the temporary things of this earth, that are not important, and focus on what is eternal and of greatest importance.

It may be painful and a displeasure to turn selfish desires down now, but in the end God will reward you greatly for doing His work.

Release yourself into the hands of God and trust Him to meet your needs as you do His work. His work is of eternal importance. Gain Jesus and you gain eternity.

Gain this world and you get nothing in the end.

I pray today that you will seek what God has for you; that you will deny selfish desires and follow after God alone; that you will gain eternity in Jesus; and that you will trust God with your life and soul.

Mark 13:2 Every Thing Is Temporary

Magnificent Buildings.jpg

“Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” Mark 13:2

The disciples and Jesus were walking through town one day. The disciples started talking about the great buildings that they were seeing. Jesus points out that every one of those buildings would be destroyed at some point in the future.

Men have taken time and money to build some very beautiful and magnificent buildings over the years. Some are impressive with their height. Others by how they are designed.

Not only has men made these buildings they have built other things that are very impressive. Sculptures, vehicles, boats, planes, and many other things that are unique and magnificent to see.

No matter how magnificent these buildings and things are, they are all temporary. Some of these buildings are still standing after a thousand years or more, but eventually they will crumble.

The Titanic was a very impressive ship, but was sunk very quickly. The Twin Towers in New York were very impressive large buildings, but were taken down in one day with the crashing of a plane.

People need to realize that all the things of this world are all temporary. The physical things will not last forever. They were out and break down. Or they can be destroyed by someone.

Think about all the stuff that you have owned over the years, the clothes, the shoes, the cars, and other things. How many of those things do you still own ten years later? How many different pairs of clothing have you had to throw out or get rid of because they wore out and can no longer be worn?

People often put their trust in the things they can see, feel and touch, but all those things are temporary. The only thing that is temporary is the soul and God with His Word.

As a believer you should be focusing on the things that are eternal and of eternal value. The two things that are of eternal value is your own soul and the souls of other people. You, along with every other person on this planet need to know Jesus as their Savior. And these are not physical things that you can see and touch, they are spiritual things.

What are you focused on today? The temporary physical? Or the spiritual eternal?

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will tell others of Jesus; that you will not be caught up in the temporary; and that you will focus on God and the eternal.
