Psalm 9:2 Be Glad

Glad child flying

I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:2

Walking down a busy street in a major city, one will see hundreds of people walking. Out of those hundreds of people walking, only a few will be showing a smile on their face, if any are actually smiling.

Very few people go about their day being glad. Usually they are upset about something not going right, or they just don’t want to be where they are at.

It is common to hear people complaining about something all the time in a workplace. The more people that work there, the higher the chance of someone complaining. There is no gladness or joy in their lives.

Despite all the enemies against him and his life always being in danger, David said that he would be glad and sing praises about God. He made a conscious choice to be glad and to rejoice in God. He made a conscious effort to sing praises about God.

The world is not alone in people not being glad. Going to a church one will see many people with sadness in their faces, there is no joy and gladness in their appearance. And these are the believers, the ones who should be full of joy. Ask many people what praise report they have of what God is doing in their lives and most people have nothing to say.

Every believer should always be full of gladness and joy. They have the greatest gifts ever–forgiveness of sins and eternal life. No matter what life gives a believer, he can know he has life, this should put gladness on his face and a song in his heart of praise. He should not be able to stop talking about how great God is. It is a choice to be made.

Take a moment to think about how much God has done for you already. Think about how great His love for you is. Think about what Jesus did for you in the cross. These few things should make you very glad. It should give you an endless list of things to praise about God to others.

As you go through your day, put a smile on your face and be glad. Show the world that you believe in God, that He is in control and you really do have a great life. It is your choice to be glad, choose it.

I pray today that you will know God personally; that you will see what God has done for you; that you will have gladness of God in your life; and that you will constantly sing praises of who God is and what He has done.

Psalm 7:17 Giving Thanks And Praises

Guitar playing

I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High. Psalm 7:17

When a person does something good, people will often give thanks and praise. Those that receive some of that good will give the thanks for what was done. Those that did not receive it, but did see it, will give praise for what was done.

People like to see good things being done by others. Although the world does not always see good things as being really good. When lives are touched for God, the world sees that as a bad thing, but when lives are touched by provision and healing, they see it as good.

David sees God’s righteousness as something that is good and give Him thanks and then praises His name. This was done at a time when David’s life was at risk, when his enemies were numerous and treachery against him was common.

Seeing God’s righteousness as good is not always easy or fun to do. Being righteous means doing the right thing each and every time, regardless of how it looks or feels. That ‘doing the right thing’ is doing the right thing for everyone, not just one or two people. It is also done with eternity in mind.

In the process of God doing the right thing in a person’s life, many people get upset. They do not want to be corrected or go through a tough time, in order to grow stronger. People are then not very thankful for what God is doing.

As they grumble about God’s choices and actions, they forget to sing praises of His name. They only speak words of grumbling and complaining. Some will even choose to walk away from God, thinking that He does not love them. However, this is not true, God’s love for each and every person is real and perfect.

As you look upon what God is doing or not doing in your life, know that those actions are the best ones for your life. God’s love for you is perfect and undying. He will only do the best for your life. This is done because of His perfect righteousness and love.

Give God thanks for what He is doing in your life or not doing in your life. Trust that He knows what is best. Then, sing praises to His name. He is worthy of all praise.

I pray today that you will know the work of God in your life; that you will know God’s love for you; that you will know God’s perfect righteousness; that you will give God thanks for all He is doing; and that you will sing praises of God’s name to this world.
