Psalm 125:1 Unshakeable

Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. Psalm 125:1

People go through life trusting in various things to help them along the way. They will trust that their paycheck will continue, that their retirement will be enough, that the economy will be good, and the list goes on.

That trust in those things often gets severely tested from time to time. As a person is trusting his job, suddenly there is a time where they are laying off people, making cuts. The person is often shaken to his core, wondering if he will have a job in a few weeks, or how he will provide for his family if he is laid off.

When things start to take a turn for the worse, people become scared and worried. They are shaken with the fear that is in them of the unknown future. All peace has left them.

Nations and economies have risen and fallen over and over throughout all of history. No nation has lasted forever.  Every thing in those nations have risen and fallen. Jobs that were in place one hundred years ago are now gone. Equipment that was used fifty years ago is now gone. The economy of thirty years ago is gone. Nothing on this earth last forever. With everything going away the fear can rise in a person.

Trusting in God removes that fear. God is a foundation that has been in place since the beginning of time. Throughout history, God has never changed. He remains the same since the time of Adam, and will remain the same for the rest of eternity.

God can be your unshakeable peace when all of your world seems to be falling apart. When things fail in this world, God is still right by your side holding you up.

As you trust in Jesus for everything, you will have His perfect peace in you. You will know that no matter how bad things get, He is still in control. You will not be shaken as many in this world are shaken with fear. You know your future will be an eternal life in heaven with God.

Where is your trust today?

Are you being shaken?

I pray today that you will trust in God with our life; that you will know His peace in your life; that you will not be shaken as the world is shaken; and that God’s love will remove all fear in your life.

Psalm 55:22 Don’t Carry Your Cares

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22

Caring can be something that is good, or it can be something that is bad. Caring in a way that is meeting someone or something’s need is a good thing. Caring in a way that is worrying about something or someone is the opposite of good caring.

All over the world, people are caring (worrying) about something. The level of care about something is different for each person. Some are worried about how to pay the next electricity bill, while others are caring about how they will look in an outfit at the next meeting. The list for what people care about is endless.

With many of these cares, people are shaken. They are scared that things will go from bad to worse. They are scared that the problem will only get worse.

Everyday people are faced with things that concern them, some very large, while others are small. The size of the concern is all a matter of perspective. The person who makes a six digit income does not care about the electricity bill as much as the person who is living on welfare.

Believers in Jesus need to have the correct perspective on what they care about. God is larger than the largest problem that any person could ever possibly have. He already has a plan to meet every care that a person could ever have.

You do not need to be like most of the world and get shaken about some problem or care in your life. You need to take that care and cast it onto Jesus. He is there to carry all the burdens of the world, that includes all of your burdens also.

Do not allow yourself to be shaken with fear at some care that has come up. God’s love will remove all that fear and He will sustain you through the situation.

God owns everything, so let Him carry the cares of this world. Just trust Him and obey what He tells you to do.

Don’t take on the burden of carrying all your cares, let God do it for you.

I pray today that you will trust God to care for you; that you will cast all your cares on Jesus; that you will know God’s peace in your life; and that God will not allow you to be shaken.

Hebrews 12:28-29 God is a Consuming Fire

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ‘God is a consuming fire’. Hebrews 12:28-29

Just before this verse the author talks about Mount Zion in the Old Testament. When God came down to meet with Moses on the mountain, the whole mountain was on fire. Along with the fire there was thunder and lightning and the ground was shaking. None of the people were allowed to even touch the mountain during that time. Even Moses had trembled with fear of going before God. He knew that God was a Holy God and a consuming fire.

How is God a consuming fire? He burns up sin. He is against all who sin against Him. God will burn out impurities and immoralities in your life. God has not changed, He is still a consuming fire. The difference is that now you are coming to a heavenly kingdom that cannot be shaken like the mountain was.

In the Old Testament, Moses was invited by God to see Him on a physical mountain. That mountain was temporary. Today you are invited by God to see Him at His throne in heaven. Heaven is not physical and cannot be shaken. Now you are invited into a greater place. With this in mind the author tells you to be thankful and worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

What are you to be thankful for? You must be thankful that God is accepting you; that He is calling you to be with Him; and that He loves you. With all of this you must worship Him with a grateful heart. Your worship must recognize that God is the ultimate number one king of all the universe. Your worship must not be just something you do, only going through the motions. It must be on purpose because God deserves it. It must be focused on God and on Him alone. Worship must be done with a certain amount of fear, because God is Holy and a consuming fire and He has all rights to destroy you for the sins you have done.

Today you can go before God directly because of Jesus. Jesus took away all your sins. God will no longer burn you up because of sin if you have confessed your sins and believed in Jesus. Give your thanks to God for who He is and what He has done for you. Worship God with extreme reverence and awe. Even though God will not destroy you, you must know that He has the ability and right to do so.

I pray that today God will give you a vision of how great He is; that God will give you a vision of His kingdom; that God will help you in learning to worship Him in the correct manner with reverence and awe; that God will consume all the sins in your life; and that God will set you on fire for Him.
