The Lord is good, a refuge inn times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him, Nahum 1:7
Throughout a person’s lifetime one will have times when he needs a safe place to retreat to. Children often have a place in their room or yard that they will go to when they are scared, or often they will run to their parent’s room for comfort.
Adults often turn to entertainment, drugs, alcohol, porn, food, or some activity when they are faced with times of trouble. They seek to be able to get away from the trouble, rather than face it.
Nahum tells the people that God is always good and is a safe refuge for in times of trouble. Nineveh had been coming against the people of Israel causing great trouble for them.
Every person will go through times of trouble and hardship. As they go through it most will seek ways of relief and comfort from the troubles. The ways most people seek relief are the ways of the world, which are temporary and often sinful. They do not give any true refuge.
Believers have one that they can always run to in times of trouble and find true refuge. It is God who they can run to. God has perfect love for every person, thus cares for every person in the most perfect way.
Knowing and understanding God’s love and care can give a person great peace when he turns to God for help as a refuge during times of trouble. As one trusts in and turns to God, he will realize that with God all these troubles are temporary and are also being used by God for a good purpose.
This peace is found in knowing and trusting God’s great love and care. It is believing that He is the best refuge in times of trouble.
As days come when you are going through tough times do not turn to the things and ways of this world. Run to God and seek His comfort and peace as a safe refuge. Trust that God will take care of you and meet every need you have.
Allow God to work in every situation to bring His glory and purpose into your life. As God is a refuge, give Him praise and let the world know what He is and has done in your life.
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God as a safe refuge; that you will know the peace God can give; that you will know God’s comfort for you; and that you will trust God.
