He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Revelation 14:7
Every day people drive down the roading going well above the speed limit, breaking the law, because they do not expect to be caught or judged. Since judgment does not occur immediately, people feel that they are free to do as they please.
The world has chosen to live in sin with no fear of God’s judgment. They do not see what is coming.
John records an angel telling everyone to fear God and worship Him, because the time of judgment has come.
It is easy for the world to continue to live in sin, pleasing self, since they have no fear of God, nor do they know God. At the same time there are many ‘believers’ who do not fear God and live in sin, while claiming to be a believer and worship Him. They put off changing and repentance, thinking that they can do it some other day.
God is a merciful and patient God who waits to punish wrongdoing. He does not want to punish anyone but wants all to repent and follow Him. With this, God is waiting to inflict punishment upon all who reject Jesus, but the time is coming when He will punish and judge the world.
Instead of rejecting God, every believer must be willing to give God the respect and fear He deserves and worship Him with their lives, turning away from all sin. Living in this way can start immediately in the life of every person. God’s Holy Spirit will guide a person on how to live for Him and worship Him with all of one’s heart, soul, mind and strength, so that he will be ready on the day of judgment.
You may know of God but ask yourself if you fear God. Do you allow yourself to dabble in sin or do you reject sin and flee from it?
Things may be going well for you today, but God is watching and sees all that you are doing or not doing for Him. Put God first in your life and worship Him with your life. Do not give God a reason to have to punish you in the end.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will fear God with all of your life; that you will worship God with all of your life; that you will repent and turn from your sins against God; and that you will allow God to lead you in how to live for Him.
