Hosea 12:6 Waiting For God

But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always. Hosea 12:6

Jacob was the man whose family God chose to become His nation of people. In the beginning of Jacob’s time, he fought with an angel to get God’s blessings. He had to wait for God to provide those blessings. It took many years and a lot of struggles, but his children did receive the blessing and favor of God, they became a nation who followed God.

Over time the nation chose to walk away from God. Hosea is now calling them to return to God and follow His ways. Just like Jacob, they are told to wait for God.

Waiting is something that most people do not really like to do. People want what they want, and they want it right now. In fact, they want it ten minutes ago, now is too late. No matter how fast a computer is, people want it faster. No matter how fast the service is at a restaurant, some want it faster. People are impatient.

Believers have this same problem with God, they get very impatient. They stop and pray for a moment for something to happen or the favor of God in some situation, and expect their prayer to be answer in their way, right away. When God does not answer it in their way, right away, many think that God does not love them or did not hear them, or is against them. At that point, many choose to walk away from God and stop following His ways.

Following and believing in Jesus means that you will wait upon God for everything. You will trust that God has heard your prayers and will answer in His time and in His way.

As you are waiting on God to provide His answer to your prayer, you must maintain your love for God and for others. You must also stand true to His word and maintain the truth in this world.

Satan and this world will strive to get you to believe that God will not answer you, but it is not the truth. Wait on God and He will answer. He will not only answer you, but He will give you the best answer possible to your situation.

Are you trusting and waiting on God?

I pray today that you will know God hears your prayers; that God will give you the patience to wait for His answer; that you will ignore the lies of this world about God; and that you stay faithful to God as you wait for Him.

Hosea 3:1 Love As God Loves

The LORD said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.” Hosea 3:1

Hosea’s wife had been unfaithful to him and went off to be with other men. God tells him to accept her back and still love her. He takes it even further with telling Hosea to love her in the same way that He loved the Israelites, who had chosen to follow other gods.

Marriage is one area that people will often talk about unfaithfulness. One spouse becomes unsatisfied with the other and goes out seeking where that one can find love from another. As that occurs, anger and revenge usually builds up, the relationship is often destroyed and trust is lost. The spouse that was faithful, usually tell the other one that the marriage is over and will not be loved again.

People in the church are often guilty of this same unfaithfulness to God and to others. Loyal friends stab a friend in the back, striving to look better or raise higher. Hurting gossip is spread, damaging a person’s reputation or life. Turning the back on a friend in need. Telling lies behind a person’s back.

Each of these things and many more can happen, causing great pain and anger. Most people will reject a person who has done this, and refuse to have anything to do with that person. There is no forgiveness or love shown, because of the pain and anger.

Yet, God tells His people to love as He loved. God loved so much that He sent His Son to die for a people who rejected Him and did not want Him. He loved you before you even knew about Him or accepted Him.

God also loved you when you rejected Him. Think of the times when you went against God and followed this world or your own ways. Even then, God still loved you.

In this same way, you must be willing to love those who have hurt you and rejected you. Show God’s eternal perfect love to everyone around you, not just those who are faithful. It is through this love that others can learn of God’s true love. Love as God loves you.

I pray today that you will know God’s love for you and others; that you will show God’s love to others; that you will trust God in the pain others put you through; and that you will be His witness to this dying and hurting world.

Deuteronomy 30:4 You Will Be Brought Back

Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you back. Deuteronomy 30:4

Moses had told the people that if they follow God with all of their heart, they will prosper and be made the head of all nations. He also said that if they disobey God, they would be destroyed as a nation. The people are warned that they will fall away from God in the future, but they are also given some hope. After they have fallen away and been scattered over the earth, if they turn back to God, He will bring them back, regardless of how far away they are.

There are some people who grew up in a Christian home, serving and loving God. As they get to teen-age or young adult levels, they walk away from God. They start choosing a path that is far from God and filled with great sin.

Years later, someone reminds them of Jesus, and they turn it down, because they feel they have walked too far away from God to get back. Many feel that they have sinned too much for God to forgive them anymore and that God does not want them again.

You may be in that place. A lonely place where you have chosen things that pulled you away from God. You chose to disobey God and walk away and feel you can’t get back.

No matter how far you have walked away from God, you can still get back to Him. God is everywhere, even where you are as you try to walk away from Him. As soon as you turn towards Him, He turns and runs to you.

God does not seek to destroy you. He has no desire to destroy anyone. Jesus came to save everyone in the world, which includes you. God will go any distance needed to get you to come back to Him or to come to Him for the first time.

Accept the forgiveness Jesus offers and start serving and loving God again. He will love and restore you. He wants that relationship with you.

Are you loving God?

Or are you running in fear from Him?

I pray today that you will give your life to God; that you will return to God with all of your heart; that you will know the forgiveness Jesus gives; and that God will restore you to what He wants you to be.
