Revelation 9:20-21 Refusing To Repent

The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood–idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21

The world loves to live the way that it lives. They do not see bad situations as warnings as to how they are to change their bad patterns of living.

Most people live with the here and now attitude, not realizing the future dangers that are awaiting them.

John sees a vision of the future judgements of God being poured out upon the earth. After a world-wide plague kills many people and animals, the people still refuse to repent of their sinful ways.

Throughout history God has used disasters to attempt to get people to turn towards Him. Some of those disasters are direct judgements upon the people for what they are doing. Instead of seeing those disasters as a calling card to repent, most people continue to live in sin.

God never wants to destroy people, but wants them to turn towards Him, trusting Him and having a loving relationship with Him. He is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen, including plagues and disasters.

Across America and the world, more and more people are living in more and more sin, and promoting those sins to a greater extent. They worship their golden idols and sexual immorality, with no apparent consequence. Regardless of the plagues that come, people continue to live in sin.

People need to repent of all sins and turn away from their sins before God chooses to pour out judgement upon them.

God may be using disasters in your life to get your attention upon Him. He has good plans for you, but you must be willing to turn from sin and follow Jesus with all of your heart, rejecting all sin.

Do not be like the world, embracing sin, but flee temptation to sin. Be holy as God is holy. If you choose to live in sin, as the world does, there will come a day of God’s final judgement upon you that will last for the rest of eternity.

Repent of your sins and turn from those sins while it is today.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will reveal to you sins that you need to repent of; that God will give you strength to resist temptations to sin; that you will see God’s hand at work in every disaster; and that you will live for God.

2 Thessalonians 2:10 Refusing The Truth

and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 2 Thessalonians 2:10

The news media has all types of stories. The interesting thing is that two different sources of media can report the news with exactly two opposite different views on what occurred. With this being done, one side is most likely telling a lie or attempting to deceive the public.

This is done in order to push a certain agenda or belief, rather than face the truth of the matter.

Paul talks about the coming lawless one who will promote lies. Many will follow because they refuse to love the truth, thus they will not be saved.

Rejection of truth is a very common problem for many people. The truth can often cause embarrassment or shame and lots of temporary pain. Very few people want to face the truth that they are wrong and are being condemned. They love their wicked ways and cannot see that what they are doing is wrong.

Throughout history many people have left a church because they did not want to face the truth that was being preached. The base truth is that every person is a sinner and steeped in sinful ways.

Living as a sinner will cause one to be condemned by God to eternal life in hell. No one wants to believe that God would do such a thing, so they reject the truth and continue to live in sin. Things are seen and believed only in a way that promotes self, not God or others.

Every person who chooses to believe the truth will turn from all sin and choose to live as God desires. Believing the truth that Jesus brought will bring one to a saving knowledge of Him.

Examine your life and see what you are believing is the truth. Be willing to reject the lies that the world is promoting and believe in the truth of Jesus Christ and the gospel message He proclaimed.

Do not allow yourself to be deceived by the sinful ways of this world that cause you to sin and live in sin. Allow the truth of Jesus to change your life, your actions and ways of thinking.

God will give you His Holy Spirit to open your eyes to His truth and the deception of this fallen world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will accept the truth of God in your life; that you will allow God to reveal the lies of this world; that you will know the salvation Jesus promises; and that you will live according to God’s commands.

Jeremiah 18:6 Get Molded By God

He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.” Jeremiah 18:6

The nation of Israel was raised up by God to be His very own nation. They were there for His purpose, not their own. Since they were there for His purpose, He was to be allowed to mold them into what He wanted. Just as clay is formed by a potter into the pot or vessel that the potter decides, so the nation of Israel was formed as God desired.

Many of the people in Israel refused to be molded by God. They did not want to be the nation or people who God wanted them to be. They had refused to be clay in God’s hands, and in the end God had to destroy their nation and put them in captivity.

Every person and every nation that is on this earth was put here by God. He formed each one to be what He wanted them to be. The sad part of it is, that like Israel, most of the world has chosen to refuse to be what God wants them to be–to be just like Jesus. Following in the footsteps of Adam and Eve, and later Israel, they continue to sin and reject God.

Being molded into what God wants you to be is not always easy or fun. The pressure that is upon you to remove a sin will be heavy, but it will be better than the punishment later for not following God’s will for your life.

Along with being molded to remove sin, God molds you to do what Jesus did on this earth and more. You have to be shaped into what God needs. It has nothing to do with temporary things or comfort, but with all eternity for you and those around you.

Think about how much God could do with you, if you allowed Him to have absolute full control of your life. If you allowed Him to shape you into being exactly like Jesus, how much could He do through you?

Allow God to mold you into a beautiful vessel that He can use to build His kingdom here on this earth for all eternity. Do not be stubborn and refuse His work.

I pray today that you will know God’s plans for your life; that you will allow God to use you; that you will allow God to mold and shape you for His use; and that God will make a difference in this world through you.

Mark 16:14 Lack of Faith

“Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.” Mark 16:14

Jesus had been crucified, died, and rose again from the dead. Several women had seen Him after the resurrection. They told the disciples that they had seen Jesus alive, but the disciples did not believe them.

Now Jesus appears to them directly and rebukes them for not having faith and for refusing to believe the women. The disciples were described as being stubborn in that refusal.

They were adamant that Jesus did not rise from the dead. They refused to believe the words of those who had seen Jesus risen.

Today ever believer in Jesus believes that He rose from the dead. Only those who do not follow Jesus do not believe He rose from the dead.

Although many believe He rose from the dead, they do not always believe the other testimonies about Jesus. Many people struggle with believing that Jesus can heal them, or provide for them, or get them through a bad situation. They do not believe that Jesus is really in control.

Believers will give testimony about how Jesus helped them in many different ways and situations. Others will hear it, but refuse to believe that Jesus can and will do the same for them.

You may not believe you are worthy of Jesus working in your life. True, you are not worthy, but God is loving and merciful and will work in your life.

You may not believe Jesus will work in your life. Look at the promises Jesus had made. They are for every believer. Believe in Jesus. He is faithful.

Listen to the testimonies of other people and believe them. God does work in lives today. He can and will work in your life today.

Do not have a lack of faith in God. Do not refuse to believe the testimonies of others or that God will not do what He has promised. Believe in Jesus today for both salvation and for getting you through every situation in your life.

I pray today that God will reveal His love for you more than ever before; that God will show His faithfulness to you; that you will have faith in God; that you will testify to others what God is doing in your life; and that God will use you to build His kingdom.
