Psalm 99:3 Praise The Name Of The Lord

Let them praise your great and awesome name–he is holy. Psalm 99:3

Throughout history there have been some men and women who have done some great things. A few have changed the way things are done, helping mankind as a whole. Some have discovered ways to help those who are sick or to make things easier for people. Some have led nations into doing great things.

People who have done these things are honored in different ways. Some have their own special day on a calendar each year. Some have had statues made of them. Museums have been built to remember what they have done. People all over will praise them for the great things that they have done.

While these men and women have often done great things, most of these things done are temporary. They will not last for eternity.

In this psalm people are encouraged to praise the Lord’s name–God’s name. His name is called great and awesome.

In itself, the name, ‘God’, ‘Lord’ or ‘Jesus’ does not mean a whole lot. It is just a name. False gods have taken on these names. Some people have even taken on these names.

The name of God is more when it is looked at with the nature of God. The Lord is holy and worthy of praise. God has created everything that is. The Lord has provided for the forgiveness of sins and offers eternal life. What greater thing can one do than that?

Death is the greatest enemy of mankind. No man is able to overcome it. The only reason that there is death, is because of sin. Jesus has overcome death, so that each and every person has the chance to be saved and overcome death.

With having done this, there is no one worthy of more praise and honor than Jesus in all of history.

Take a moment to think about what Jesus has done for you. Just the fact of His removing all of your sins and giving you eternal life is enough to be worthy of praise for ever.

God has not only given you eternal life, He gives you joy and peace today. He provides for what you need. His presence is with you around the clock.

Now take time to praise the Lord for all that He has done for you. Praise Him for all the blessings He has given you.

I pray today that you will know what Jesus has done for you; that you will remember how God has helped you each day; that you will praise His name; and that you will tell others of what Jesus has done.
