Leviticus 22:32 It Is God Who Makes You Holy

Do not profane my holy name, for I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the Lord, who made you holy Leviticus 22:32

Being able to accomplish something on their own is what most people like to strive for. Praise is often given for those who are self-made millionaires. It displays hard work and dedication to succeed when it appears that they did it on their own.

No one can really succeed completely on his own. Everyone needs at least some help from others to make it big. Some will recognize this, but many do not.

God reminds the people to not profane His holy name, because He must be acknowledged as holy and is the One who made them holy.

Throughout the church there are many people who take great pride in following the rules and commands of God in their life. They feel as if they are holy because of all the things that they do in obeying God.

While obeying God is great, it is not what makes one holy before God. From the moment a person sins one time as a child, he is no longer holy and can never be holy in his own abilities or power. There is a death sentence upon his head for the rest of eternity, unless removed by God.

The Israelites, under the law, had to offer certain sacrifices in order to be made holy. When the sacrifice was offered, God made them holy, not the work that they did.

Jesus, dying upon the cross and raising from the dead, became the sacrifice for all mankind. It is by His sacrificial blood that any person is made holy. All a person must do is believe in Jesus, repent of his sins and God will make him holy, not his own personal sacrifices.

Nothing you can personally do will ever make you holy before God. Sin has infected your life and will keep you from ever being holy on your own.

The good news is that Jesus can make you holy. Turn away from sin, so that you do not profane God’s holy name, believe in Jesus and allow Him to make you holy by removing all of your sin.

Once your sins are removed, live in the holiness God has given you. Begin to obey His commands and flee from all sin. Be holy as He is holy.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the forgiveness of sins Jesus offers; that you will allow Jesus to make you holy; that you will live a holy life as God has called you to live; and that you will trust God for your holiness.

Leviticus 21:6 Be Holy As You Give To God

They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the food offerings to the Lord, the food of their God, they are to be holy. Leviticus 21:6

People who work in a restaurant or any other place dealing with serving food must keep themselves clean of any dirt. They are required to wash their hands on a regular basis. Many times they are required to wear gloves and a face covering.

All these regulations are to protect the food from contamination which, in turn, protects others.

The priests were told to be holy and not profane the name of God and that because they present the food offerings to God, they must be holy.

Believers are no longer required by God to offer food offerings to God as sacrifices. Food offerings were done away with when Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for all.

Even though a believer does not need to offer a physical food offering, there are many other offerings he may give. There are offerings of praise and worship, thanks, time, abilities, prayer and ministry that can be offered as a sacrifice unto God.

Regardless of which offering a believer is offering up to God, he must not profane the name of God. In other words, he must be holy as God is holy and not be defiled with sin in his life. This can be done by repentance and trust in the cleansing of sin by Jesus.

The call to be holy is not just in the Old Testament, nor just for priests of the Levitical priesthood, but for every believer in Jesus. Every believer is now the temple of God, which must be holy and pure for God to dwell in.

As a believer, you are expected by God to offer up sacrifices of praise, prayer and more to Him. You are now a priest before God, regardless of your position in this world.

Do not allow yourself to be defiled and contaminated with the sin of this world. Stive to be holy as God is holy out of love for God for what He did for you in the death and resurrection of Jesus. If and when you do sin, repent of those sins and fleeing all sin and be holy.

God has opened the door for you to present offerings to Him, do not profane His name in the process, but be holy.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will repent of any sins against God; that you will be holy as God is holy; that you will present offerings to God on a regular basis; and that you will allow Jesus to keep you holy.

Leviticus 22:32-33 Don’t Profane God’s Holy Name

Man worships at night

Do not profane my holy name, for I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the LORD, who made you holy and who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD. Leviticus 22:32-33

Comedians are known for making fun of things or other people. It is very common for different comedians to make fun of people of power or position. They treat the position of the person as irreverent and disrespect. As this occurs people lose respect for the person or the position being made fun of.

The world is very quick to tear someone down with disrespect. They demand respect for themselves, but are unwilling to give it to others.

One of the commands God had to give the Israelites was to not profane His holy name. They were to not make fun of, make light of, or disrespect God’s holy name.

All of these things can be done by how a person speaks and acts about the things of God. Although most believers would say they would never profane God’s Holy name, it is done in the church a lot. This can be seen when people refuse to show up on time to worship God with others, think about other things while in prayer for someone specific, not repenting of sins, giving only a portion of the tithe when stating it is all of the tithe, and many more ways.

Many believers also profane God’s holy name outside the church. This can be seen in the actions and words of believers while at work, in a public place, or at home. Any action that does not honor and mirror an action of God, is profane to God. It is disrespecting what God has done for the believer.

Just as God had brought the Israelites up out of Egypt, He has brought you up out of this world of sin. As a believer and follower of Jesus, you must also acknowledge God as holy. Take time to look at your own life and see how you are treating God’s name.

You are wearing God’s name as a believer. Does your actions, words and thoughts bring honor to God’s holy name?

Or are your actions, words and thoughts the same as the world’s and showing disrespect for God’s holy name?

God must be acknowledged as holy. Let the world know God is holy by being holy as He has made you holy.

I pray today that you will know what Jesus has done for you; that you will pattern your life as that of Jesus; that you will live holy as God has made you holy through Jesus; and that your actions, thoughts and words will honor God.
