Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. Psalm 72:18
Credit is often given to a person for doing something great. People see him do something great and think that he is wonderful for doing a great action. However, the action done is not usually done completely alone. It often takes more than one to do a great action.
Businesses are known for honoring a person for some great sales, but in reality it took a whole team to make the sales happen. Often, there are several that were the real work behind the great deed done.
Solomon praises God because He is the one who does marvelous deeds. He sees God as the only one who does marvelous deeds completely on His own.
It is easy for a person to take credit for doing something, but forget about where the real credit should go.
While people can do good things, even great things, they cannot do those good things on their own. Every person needs help to do anything, whether great or small. There is always the support of other people, but ultimately there is the support of God.
God gives each and every person the ability to do whatever is done, whether great or small. However, God is able to do great and marvelous deeds with no help from anyone else. He is the One the who is able to provide food, healing, life, health, salvation and much more to anyone and everyone who needs it.
Although honoring a person is good, praising God is needed for every good deed done. God is able to do those things alone, though He often chooses to use others to make things happen. God is behind everything good.
God is the one who is worthy of all praise for the good deeds being done.
Think about all the good things that you have in your life. Think about all the good things you have done in your lifetime. Realize that it was God who is working in your life. He is the one who made those things possible.
Give God the praise for what He has done and is doing in and through you and others all over this world. He is always at work doing marvelous deeds, changing and saving lives around the world, despite the evil being done in this world.
I pray today that you will see what God has done; that you will know the work God is doing in your life; that you will know the work God is doing in this world; that you will give God praise for His work; and that you will be a witness of God’s marvelous deeds.
Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:3
Lifting someone or something up and glorifying it is a very common thing to occur among people. What people glorify is uncountable. Some will glorify a job, a singer, an actor, a sports team, and the list in endless. People will glorify whatever it is that they are excited about, whether it is for the positive or the negative.
In the process of lifting up, they will often make the person or thing out to be the best in whatever field the person or thing is. This can also be see abstractly in that some will say some thing glorifies an action, attitude or thought.
Some will say that football may glorify violence. Movies will glorify crime and killing. Again the list is endless as to what is glorified and how it is glorified.
David called for the people to glorify the Lord with him. He wanted to praise God with others and not just himself, alone.
Glorifying God is talking extremely highly of Him to everyone and anyone anywhere a person is. It is constantly talking about God around other people.
When a person thinks about it, there is not too much that can be said about God. The list of His qualities and qualifications are infinite, going on forever. The list of good things that God has done is endless. And this list is for each and every believer.
As one is glorifying God, he is also being a witness to others as to who God is. It is the process of letting the world get a glimpse of who God is. This also takes the focus off of problems and this world and focuses on the eternal. It will bring joy to the heart.
Take time each day to think about the qualities and characteristics of God and what He has done for you and for others. Think of all the blessings God has blessed you with. Give God praise for those things.
Be willing to glorify the Lord by telling Him what you think of what He has done and who He is. Then go out and tell the world what God has done and who He is. This is glorifying God.
Do not let the temporary things of this world get your focus and bring you down. Focus on God and His perfect qualities and actions. Who or what will you glorify today?
I pray today that you will have a personal relationship with God; that you will know God’s character; that you will know the blessings you have in Jesus; and that you will glorify God wherever you are.
I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:2
Walking down a busy street in a major city, one will see hundreds of people walking. Out of those hundreds of people walking, only a few will be showing a smile on their face, if any are actually smiling.
Very few people go about their day being glad. Usually they are upset about something not going right, or they just don’t want to be where they are at.
It is common to hear people complaining about something all the time in a workplace. The more people that work there, the higher the chance of someone complaining. There is no gladness or joy in their lives.
Despite all the enemies against him and his life always being in danger, David said that he would be glad and sing praises about God. He made a conscious choice to be glad and to rejoice in God. He made a conscious effort to sing praises about God.
The world is not alone in people not being glad. Going to a church one will see many people with sadness in their faces, there is no joy and gladness in their appearance. And these are the believers, the ones who should be full of joy. Ask many people what praise report they have of what God is doing in their lives and most people have nothing to say.
Every believer should always be full of gladness and joy. They have the greatest gifts ever–forgiveness of sins and eternal life. No matter what life gives a believer, he can know he has life, this should put gladness on his face and a song in his heart of praise. He should not be able to stop talking about how great God is. It is a choice to be made.
Take a moment to think about how much God has done for you already. Think about how great His love for you is. Think about what Jesus did for you in the cross. These few things should make you very glad. It should give you an endless list of things to praise about God to others.
As you go through your day, put a smile on your face and be glad. Show the world that you believe in God, that He is in control and you really do have a great life. It is your choice to be glad, choose it.
I pray today that you will know God personally; that you will see what God has done for you; that you will have gladness of God in your life; and that you will constantly sing praises of who God is and what He has done.
