I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! Deuteronomy 32:3
To proclaim something is to talk about it, to let something be known to others. It is to open about some information or news.
Many years ago in nations that had a king, the king would have people who were town criers. They would go out through a town crying, shouting out loud, that the king had some news for the people. Later in time, the newspaper companies had people walking around to sell papers. As they would try to sell the papers, they would shout out loud some part of the news to get the people’s attention to buy the paper.
Those people were not ashamed to shout out that they had some important information that they felt every person needed to hear about. They did not keep silent with what they knew.
Today when people know of some great news, they are quick to talk about it. When they know of some great person, who does great work, they are quick to tell others about that person.
As Moses is getting ready for his death, he states that he proclaims the name of the Lord and praises God’s greatness. He will not be silent with what he knows about God.
The world really does not know who God is. They do not know what He can do or has done. People need to let the people know this information.
God has many names that are attached to His name. He is God the Healer, God the Provider, God our Salvation, God our Helper, God our Peace, God our Banner and many more. Believers can go around proclaiming these names of God.
Take a moment and think about all the great things God has done for you and how great He really is to you. This is great news! Now you need to take the time to proclaim what you know.
Do not be ashamed to shout this information on the streets and from the rooftop. You have the greatest news the world has ever heard. No news story can top the greatness of the news of Jesus.
As you praise God for what He has done or is doing in your life, proclaim it to this dark and dying world. Tell everyone what you know about God. Let them know Jesus.
What can you shout out today?
I pray today that you will realize how great God is; that you will proclaim the news of Jesus to this world; that you will tell others of what God can do and has done; and that you will give God praise for His greatness.
“And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. Genesis 14:20
People have victory in situations in their lives every so often. They are able to win a battle, get promoted, overcome a sickness, or some other struggle in their life. As the victory occurs, most people look to themselves as having accomplished the feat.
They look back on all the hard work that they had done to gain the victory over their situation. The larger the battle, the greater the victory. There is often a lot of pride in one’s self for gaining that victory. Many will also claim that they got lucky or had good karma in order to have that victory.
Abram had been told that the King of Sodom and several other kings had invaded the land of his nephew Lot. He went in to rescue Lot and his people from the other kings. Abram had won the battle.
Melchizedek blessed Abram, but also stated that God had given Abram the victory. He praised God for delivering the enemies over to Abram. Abram also gave God the praise for the victory, instead of taking the praise himself.
Most people will take the praise and credit for the victory themselves. They will be quick to point out what they did in accomplishing that victory, without recognizing where that victory came from.
Believers are also known to take this praise from God for themselves. While it is true that a person did some of the work, they are not acknowledging that God gave the victory. Without God’s strength, provision, and favor, no person can win any battle.
A person does not have any power or abilities in and of himself, it is only by the power of God that a person even lives at all. God sustains all life, and is the One who gives victory over every situation.
There may be battles in your life that you have found victory. Give God the praise for giving you the victory over that enemy, whether it is a person or some other enemy in your life.
God still delivers His people from the hands of the enemy. That enemy may be a person, a thing, or a sickness. Ultimately the real enemy is the spiritual forces in this life, yet, God can deliver all enemies.
Give God praise for victory today.
I pray today that you will see God’s work in your life; that you will give God praise for all victories in your life; that you will know it is by God’s power you have victory; and that God will deliver your enemies over to you.
