Revelation 18:4 Get Out While You Can

Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues;” Revelation 18:4

In places where there is a major disaster about to occur, such as a hurricane or a major fire, people are encouraged to leave. The encouragement to leave is for their protection and safety in the long run. It is an attempt to keep them from possible death or major injury.

Many people will heed the warnings, while others will try to ride out the disaster.

In John’s vision he sees that Babylon is about to be judged and destroyed. There is a voice that calls for the people to come out. This is so that they will not share in the sins or destruction of Babylon.

The majority of the world is living in a sinful way, with no regard to the future. They are living to be pleased in the moment, not realizing the danger that is ahead of them.

God has called His people out of the life of sin. He has forgiven them and has a plan for them in heaven. Yet, until Jesus returns, every believer is still living in this fallen world. Although believers live in this world, they do not have to partake in its sin.

Everyone who does not follow Jesus will eventually be judged and condemned for eternity. It will be the greatest disaster that mankind will have ever experienced when God judges the world for its sin.

No person has to be under God’s judgement, if He will only choose to repent of his sins and follow Jesus. Every day God is calling His people out of the world of sin into His righteousness and holiness.

No matter what you have done in your past or are currently doing today, God is calling you to step out of those sins. His does not desire to have you caught up in His final judgement against all mankind for un-repented sins.

Choose today to turn away from sin. Repent and follow Jesus with all of your life. Be in this world, but not of this world. God is ready and willing to forgive you of all sins and give you eternal life.

When Jesus returns, it will be for final judgement or for eternal life. Are you getting out while you can?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of all sins; that you will flee the life of sin; that you will follow God with all of your heart; and that you will not have to share in the final judgement that God will bring upon this world.

Revelation 9:20-21 Refusing To Repent

The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood–idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21

The world loves to live the way that it lives. They do not see bad situations as warnings as to how they are to change their bad patterns of living.

Most people live with the here and now attitude, not realizing the future dangers that are awaiting them.

John sees a vision of the future judgements of God being poured out upon the earth. After a world-wide plague kills many people and animals, the people still refuse to repent of their sinful ways.

Throughout history God has used disasters to attempt to get people to turn towards Him. Some of those disasters are direct judgements upon the people for what they are doing. Instead of seeing those disasters as a calling card to repent, most people continue to live in sin.

God never wants to destroy people, but wants them to turn towards Him, trusting Him and having a loving relationship with Him. He is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen, including plagues and disasters.

Across America and the world, more and more people are living in more and more sin, and promoting those sins to a greater extent. They worship their golden idols and sexual immorality, with no apparent consequence. Regardless of the plagues that come, people continue to live in sin.

People need to repent of all sins and turn away from their sins before God chooses to pour out judgement upon them.

God may be using disasters in your life to get your attention upon Him. He has good plans for you, but you must be willing to turn from sin and follow Jesus with all of your heart, rejecting all sin.

Do not be like the world, embracing sin, but flee temptation to sin. Be holy as God is holy. If you choose to live in sin, as the world does, there will come a day of God’s final judgement upon you that will last for the rest of eternity.

Repent of your sins and turn from those sins while it is today.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will reveal to you sins that you need to repent of; that God will give you strength to resist temptations to sin; that you will see God’s hand at work in every disaster; and that you will live for God.

Amos 4:10 Refusing To Return

“I sent plagues among you as I did to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps, yet you have not returned to me, declares the Lord.” Amos 4:10

Judges give out punishments to correct criminals for doing some crime. Some of those criminals have been placed in prison multiple times and given many different fines to get them to stop doing some crime. Yet, they go back out and do the same crime again and again. They refuse to change, regardless of the punishment or correction given to them.

God points out to the Israelites how He has sent plagues among them and killed many of their horses to get their attention. Yet, they had chosen to refuse to return to the Lord and stayed in their sins.

Throughout the old testament, God had used plagues to get the attention of His people when they were living in sin. It was to get them to turn back to Him for help. God can still do that today.

America, along with many other nations, has turned its back upon God. They have chosen to walk away from His standards and live in and promote sin. Churches have stood by idly and not said much about the rampant sin. Many have even included the sin in their own lives.

As a result, the world is seeing a destruction from the COVID 19 plague in nearly every nation. People are wondering why it is there and when it will stop. God is trying to get the attention of His people to turn back to Him, to really live for Him.

Every believer must repent of sins and point others to God and His ways in order to stop the plague. God does not want any to perish, so He is willing to strike in order to get their attention.

Ask yourself if you are really living for God. Or if you are just going through the motions.

As a believer, you must be turning away from all sin, pointing people to Jesus and encouraging others to live for God. Holiness is the standard God has called all of His people to.

Do not be like the Israelites refusing to return to God and live for Him as they chase after false idols. Devote your whole life to God and He will take care of you and remove the plagues in your life.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will turn from all sin to God; that you will point others to Jesus; and that you will live a holy life unto God.

Amos 4:9 Getting Your Attention

“Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, destroying them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet, you have not returned to me,” declares the LORD. Amos 4:9

In this chapter, Amos is quoting God, who is upset with Israel. They had chosen to walk away from God, so God brought on many different calamities, drought, plagues, and death. God had struck their gardens and vineyards, which is their livelihood and food. Yet, the people refused to return to Him. They chose to continue to live in their sinful ways, knowing God was angry with them.

Disaster strikes people all the time. Some of those disasters are caused by another person, while others are caused by the weather. The world looks at those disasters as a bad luck of the draw, part life. Many will blame others for the natural disasters, claiming that it is because of the way people run things. It is natural for the world to see things this way, because they do not know God and have never known Him.

For believers, it is a different story. When disaster strikes a believer, the first thing he should do is turn to God for help. Disaster can strike a believer for one of two main reasons: 1) God is trying to get his attention, because he has walked away from Him 2) God is allowing Satan to strike and test him. Either way, the believer should turn to God.

There are many believers do not choose to turn to God, but turn to other people and things of this world. They reject God’s help, especially when it is being done because of sin in their lives. They will seek help in medicine, drugs, alcohol, entertainment, music, people, and even doing more ministry work, everything but turning to God.

In your own personal life, things may be occurring that are making things extremely difficult for you. As you are going through these situations seek God out. Take a look at your life and see where you are really standing with God.

Are you walking with God? Then trust that He will give you the strength to make it through the situation.

Have you walked away from God? Then turn back to Him and repent of all sin. Seek to know His ways and then follow them.

I pray today that you will always follow Jesus; that you will not turn from the path God has for you; that when disaster strikes, you will turn to God first; and that you will know that God is always waiting for you to return to Him.

Isaiah 19:22 A Strike, Then Repair

The LORD will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the LORD, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them. Isaiah 19:22

Egypt was one of the many nations that God had planned to strike and break down. They had refused to follow Him, so He chose to strike them. During the process of being struck down, the Egyptians would turn to God and cry out to Him. God would hear their cries and stop the time of destruction and heal them. He would pour out blessings on Egypt in the end.

Punishment comes in many forms all around the world. It occurs with individuals, all the way up to entire nations. Most nations are very quick to punish someone for doing something wrong. The purpose of the punishment is to make the person pay for the wrong that they did.

Once the punishment is over, however, very few nations or people, strive to rebuild the person or nation back up again. Once a person is punished, most will leave that person there in the position, saying that is the price that is paid for doing wrong. The individual has to fight for himself to build himself back up.

God works in a different way. His purpose of punishment is to get the person to focus back on Him. Once the purpose is accomplished, God will build that person back up.

God listens to the cries of every person in this world. As that person cries out repentance and seeks forgiveness, God is ready to forgive and build that person back up correctly.

In your own life you must realize God may be allowing you to go through a touch time right now to get your focus back on Him. Turn to Him and allow Him to build you up.

Along with getting repaired yourself, work to build others up who have harmed you. There will be people who have done you wrong. As they seek forgiveness, give it to them. And then work to build them back up.

Those who have made bad choices in their life give you an opportunity to love and build up in Jesus. Don’t force the person to stay down. Show God’s love and mercy to them and lift them up from the mud. Allow God to use you to rebuild their lives for Him.

I pray today that you will see God’s hand to rebuild lives; that you will learn from God’s corrections in your life; that God will use you to build others up; and that you will cry out to God for your own life and the lives of others.
