John 18:36 Not Of This World

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” John 18:36

Throughout the world there are many different types of kingdoms. The most commonly known ones are those of different nations. Along with the nations being kingdoms, there are also kingdoms among businesses.

The focus of the kingdoms is to rule and reign as the best, and pushing back or removing the competition or enemy. Each one has a different method of focus and method to be the best.

As Jesus was being arrested and tried, he was asked what He had done to cause His people to hand Him over. Jesus stated that His kingdom was not of this world and that it worked in a different manner.

The world likes to fight for what it wants. The type of fighting that is usually done is physically. Nations and businesses are made up of people and people will do whatever it takes to get what they want.

Those who are a part of the kingdoms are willing to fight for their leaders and country. Their desire is to protect it at all costs.

God’s kingdom is not of this world and thus works in a different way. No one can physically walk to God’s kingdom, it is in a different realm. Even though it is of a different realm, there is still a battle going on.

Although there is a battle going on, it is not a physical one, but a spiritual battle. Physical fighting is not a part of the battle plan. Believers do not have to physically fight to win this battle. It is won with prayer, sound doctrine, and love. With this type of battle, things may occur that appear crazy, such as Jesus going to the cross, to win the real battle.

Even though you are a part of this physical world, as a believer you are a part of another kingdom and world. As God works in your life, there will be times you must go through situations that do not make any sense.

Instead of physically fighting, you must pray and move forward with God’s plan for your life. You are a part of an eternal kingdom that will never fail or fade away. The problems in this life will fade away with time.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be a part of God’s eternal kingdom; that you will be a part of the spiritual battle of God’s kingdom; that you will fight in God’s manner and ways; and that you will look forward to eternal life with God some day.

Jude 1:20-21 Built Up In Faith And Prayer

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Jude 1:20-21

When someone talks about being built up, he is often talking about physically, emotionally or in a position socially. On a regular basis people go to a gym to build up the physical bodies. Many will seek to be built up in positions at work or in their community. Still others work at being built up in their emotions.

All of these things are for temporary build ups.

Jude tells the people to build themselves up in their faith and by praying in the Holy Spirit. The purpose is to keep themselves in God’s love while waiting for the return of Jesus.

While the world is seeking to build themselves up in temporary things of this world, the believer is also to build himself up in something different. The entire focus of a believer is not the temporary, but the eternal.

Everything that a believer does is with a focus that some day Jesus will return to take him home with Him for all eternity. This is a hope that cannot be seen with the physical eyes, it is faith that what God’s word says is true.

At the point a person becomes a believer he has some faith in God. This should not stay at that point, but continue to grow more and more. Over time a person’s faith in God should grow stronger as he sees God’s faithfulness.

In order for this faith to grow, one must also be praying in the Holy Spirit. This is allowing the Holy Spirit to guide his prayers.

Building one’s faith and prayers will keep one in the center of God’s love.

Regardless of how much you work on building yourself up in the temporary things of this world, work more at building up your faith in God and your times of prayer.

Work to trust God more and more each day. Take more and more time to spend time communicating with God in prayer. Allow His Holy Spirit to guide your prayers, so that they will be effectual and fervent prayers that accomplish great things.

Keep growing as you wait for the return of Jesus to take you to heaven for eternity.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that your faith in God will grow daily; that you will pray more each day; that your life will be focused upon God’s eternal promises; and that you will stay in God’s love till Jesus returns.

2 Corinthians 10:3 At War In A Different Way

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 2 Corinthians 10:3

In nearly every area of the world there is a war going on. Some are physical wars with guns and bombs at local, national and international levels.

There are also many wars that do not include physical fighting, but are trying to destroy other people. People lie, cheat, and slander other people and businesses in order to destroy them. Some do it just to destroy the competition, while others are just trying to become the best in their field.

Paul acknowledges living in world, but points out that believers do not wage war in the same way as the world does.

In the spiritual realm of life, there is a war going on. It is the war for the control and ownership of the souls of men and women. Satan and his evil forces are doing all they can to destroy the hearts and lives of every person they can, by whatever means they have available. The world fights in a dirty manner by lying, cheating, and stealing.

God also has His followers fighting in a war. It is a war for their soul. This war is not a physical fighting war or one out to destroy other people.

It is one with words that destroys actions and evil thoughts. It is pushing back temptation to sin against God. It is a war of loving one who is unlovable to change their hearts towards God. It is a war that reveals the lies and deception of the enemy and points people to the truth only found in Jesus.

While killing and lies do some destruction, the destruction is temporary. The battle of the believer destroys sin and brings about eternal life, lasting forever.

You are in the battle for your soul and for the souls of those around you. This battle is one to show people the way to eternal life.

The world does not want you to win this battle for yourself or for others and will do all it can to stop you. Choose to be on God’s side and wage war as He does with love and His living word.

Destroy the thoughts and actions of disobedience that the world promotes and live for God. Bring others to Jesus for salvation. God will win the war in the end. You will win, when you fight it God’s way.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know how God wants you to fight in this world; that you will fight for your soul and for others to be more like Jesus; and that God will use you to win the souls of others away from the world.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee Sexual Immorality

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18

One of the greatest sellers in media, whether it is books, magazines, tv shows or movies is sex. People, as a whole, like to see things that are sexual in nature.

The porn industry is the greatest, most profitable industry across the entire world. Along with purchasing sexual acts, the acts of sexual acts is extremely common among all people, everywhere and of every age level.

Paul just finished telling the Corinthian people that their bodies are members of the body of Christ. Now he tells them that they must flee all sexual immorality.

Sexual sins has not only permeated the society at large, it has also permeated throughout the church. It is common to hear of couples living together in sin, without being married. Many churches have begun to accept people living in homosexual lifestyles and not call it a sin. And this is just the physical act side of things.

There are another group of believers who won’t do the physical acts, but have it in their minds and dreams. They will watch porn, or think about it on a constant basis as if it does not matter and there is nothing wrong with it.

Jesus had brought about the idea that not only is the act sinful, but thinking about the act is also sinful. Thinking about the act, will often bring about the physical action.

As with any sin, the believer must flee it. Temptation to sin sexually will arise, but one must flee it. He must turn and run away as fast as he can and focus his attention upon God and His word, rather than the sinful ways of this fallen world.

You must examine what your thoughts and actions are about. What are you willing to see and do? Do not allow the beliefs that free sexual acts or thoughts are good outside of the marriage God instituted in the Bible.

Line your thoughts and actions up with what God has put in place. Whenever temptation to sexually sin arises, flee with everything that is in you. Do not allow thoughts to stay, leading to greater things against God.

Sexual acts are good, but within the boundaries of marriage that God made. Live for God, not self.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will strengthen you to flee all sexual sins; that God will guide you to flee all sin; that you will focus your life on God and His word; and that you will live for God in every area of your life.

John 9:39 Can You Really See?

Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.” John 9:39

Sight is something most people believe that they have, when talking about natural vision. They can see things that are physical in nature.

Insights into things that are spiritual or non-physical are often not seen by most people. They are blind to what is going on outside the physical realm of this world.

Jesus stated that He came so that those who cannot see will see and that those who can see will be unable to see.

One of the beliefs running through America is for people to be a ‘woke’ people. Many are claiming to be woke up to the reality of things occurring in this world. This belief has also worked itself its way into the church.

The world believes that they can see the truth and that belief in God or church is wrong. Anyone who sees in this way is blind and cannot really see the truth set before them.

Jesus came to open the spiritual eyes of spiritually blind people. Those who have seen Jesus for who He is, is willing to allow Him to reveal the spiritual truths around them.

They will be able to discern (see) God at work in and around them. They will be able to discern (see) what God desires of them. They will also be able to discern (see) what the enemy, the world, is doing or trying to do.

Those who refuse to see Jesus as Savior, God is allowing them to remain blind as to what God is doing. He will allow them to remain blind in their fallen sinful ways, though He continually calls them to open their eyes and see the truth.

While it is important that you may see with your physical eyes, it is more important to see with spiritual eyes. You need to allow God to open your spiritual eyes to see what God sees.

Do not allow yourself to remain blind to the truth found in God’s word. Do not allow yourself to be blind in believing that it is acceptable to live in sin and still get into heaven.

See the reality of the false lies that this world is trying to teach and promote. See the reality that believing in Jesus is the only way to know true life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will open your spiritual eyes to see; that God will reveal the lies of this world; that you will see what God is doing; and that you will not be blind to the truth in God’s word.
