Genesis 41:16 I Cannot, But God Can

“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” Genesis 41:16

Thinking that one can do anything on his own is a common view of many people. Very few people like the feeling of needing help to get something accomplished.

Unless someone does not want to do some task, most people will never say that they cannot do it when asked to do a task. They will push forward and do it without a care about the real outcome. It will appear as though they know what they are doing.

Pharaoh had a dream that no one could interpret. He was told Joseph could interpret it. Joseph says that he cannot interpret the dream, but God can.

When speaking words, it is easy for someone to say anything and everything without really speaking what is correct. It is common to hear people talk about things that they have no real idea or expertise in what they are discussing.

This is often done out of pride. No one wants to be seen is incapable of something, whether it is speaking or physically doing something. To admit that one cannot do something, is to admit a fault or weakness.

True believers in God have come to realize the true weakness of their own abilities and what God is actually able to do. They are quick to point people to God, rather to themselves. They are clothed with the humility that Christ portrayed and are unwilling to take credit for something that God is doing.

God has the amazing ability to do anything and everything Himself or through people who lean on Him for strength and ability. Without God giving breath of life and strength, no man can do anything at all. With God, nothing is impossible.

God is at work in your life. He is there to give you abilities to do things that would otherwise be impossible. He is also there to give you wisdom in the spiritual realm that the world cannot see nor understand.

As the world is trying to tell you that you can do anything on your own, point the world back towards God. Do not let the ways of the world corrupt your mind and filling you with selfish and false pride.

Lean on God for all of your abilities and understanding. Let God do what you cannot.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will trust God’s abilities over your own; that you will point the world towards God; that God will strengthen you to remove all pride in your life; and that you will be humble before man and God.

Exodus 10:3 Refusing To Be Humble

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.’ Exodus 10:3

Humility is putting other people before one’s own self. It is allowing someone else to be above self. The world does not believe in humility. Starting with Satan and going through every person, life has always been about self. Man wants to be in absolute control of every area of his own life. He wants to be the one who sits on the throne of authority.

People want to receive the honor and praise for everything that happens. This even includes many who are in the church. Pride is allowed to be a part of the life of a person, pushing God back or completely out of the picture.

God asked Pharaoh how long he would refuse to humble himself before Him. Pharaoh believed that he was the one in control and even above God, Himself. He refused to let the people go, even though God was proving over and over that He had the true authority and power over Pharaoh and his people.

There are many believers who are also guilty of not humbling themselves before God. They feel as though they are the ones in control. It is all about their ministry, their work, their power, their authority and God is not allowed to be on the throne. In word, they say that God is the King and in control, but in reality, it is all about how they look to others. It is about self.

Humbling yourself means that you will allow God to be the one in control of your life. It means you know that in yourself, you have no control or power. The only control you have is humbling yourself and letting God have the control.

Do not be like Pharaoh and allow the sin of self-pride to rule your life. God had to crush both Pharaoh and all of Egypt to get them to realize that He was in control. As with Pharaoh, it is not about you, but about God and others.

Who are you putting on the throne of your life? Is it God? Or is it yourself?

Humble yourself before God today and let Him be God of your life.

I pray today that you will know the authority God has; that you will humble yourself before God; that you will let God rule your life; and that you will point all people towards God and not towards yourself.

Genesis 41:16 God Warns Even The Lost

“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” Genesis 41:16

Joseph had been thrown into prison for something he did not do. While there God was with him and gave him great favor with the guards. Later God gives him the interpretation of the dreams of two other prisoners that come to pass as said. Now Pharaoh has two dreams that no one can interpret. After some time of searching for someone to interpret them, someone tells him about Joseph and his ability to interpret dreams. Joseph tells Pharaoh that only God can give the answer to what those dreams mean.

Many people think that because someone does not believe in God, that God will not use or even help them at all. Pharaoh did not have room for God in his life. He was looked upon as a god himself. Yet, God gave Pharaoh two dreams. These dreams were to be a warning to Pharaoh and all of Egypt that a great time of harvesting would come, and then a great famine would come.

God cares for those who do not love Him. He is working to draw ever person to Him. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the time of famine upon Egypt was a punishment upon them. It was just the way of nature and God was using it.

God used the dreams to give Joseph favor with Pharaoh. Through Joseph, God would get glory from Pharaoh. Pharaoh would realize that there was a God and that He spoke through Joseph.

People today, who do not know God, may have a dream or a situation in their life that you will have the answer from God for them. They may be questioning why something is happening or what to do next. God may use you to give them the answer they are looking for.

You must be open to God giving you the answers for those who are lost. Be willing to show them love and compassion for their situation. God loves them with a great love and wants to do good for them. He wants every lost person to know that He cares for them.

Are you willing to be used by God to touch the lost? To answer their questions?

Or will you let them remain lost and hurting?

I pray today that God will show you what the lost need to hear or see; that God will use you to reach the lost; that the lost will know you have a relationship with God; and that God will draw many to Jesus through you.
