Psalm 102:25-26 This World Is Temporary, God Is Not

Footprint in the sand

In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Psalm 102:25-26

Over time a person can watch the changing of the earth in small ways. Rivers wear down the banks, making it wider. Small hills are leveled down from erosion. Cliffs break off into the sea.

These are minute changes that can be physically seen within the lifetime of a person. Scientists often claim that the world will have to come to an end some day. While their reasoning may be off, the fact that the world will come to an end some day is true.

Just like the earth, people also will come to a physical end some day. The body wears down and eventually dies.

The author of this psalm recognizes that everything God has made will wear out and perish, but God will remain. God does not change, nor does He come to an end. He will remain for eternity.

Many people fear the end of the earth and death. They do not know what is next. God has provided for what is next. Sending Jesus, He provides a way to have life after the physical death on this earth.

Knowing that God remains forever can bring peace to the heart and mind of a person who believes in Him. God has provided for a way to man to live forever also. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, every person can live for eternity, long after the destruction of this world.

God does not change as this earth does. He does not wear down and die off, He remains for eternity. This can give the believer a hope, despite the wearing down of this world.

Instead of fighting for things of this earth, that will wear down and fade away, you can live for God and aim for things that last for eternity. Seek His perfect love in your life. Love will never fade away or die off, it is eternal.

See to bring others to Jesus by being His witness. Their souls are eternal and need eternal life in them. Do not focus or fear the temporary things of this earth. Everything temporary will fade away soon.

Put all of your trust in God and not this earth. In the end you will have eternal life beyond this earth.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the life God has for you; that God will remove the fear of temporary things on this earth; and that you will be a witness for Jesus.
