“Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then each of you will eat fruit from your own vine and fig tree and drink water from your own cistern, Isaiah 36:16
Reports abound everywhere on everything and anything. Some of the reports are filled with truth, while many are false. Some of the false ones are on purpose to lead others astray, while some are false in ignorance.
With a few well said words and being place in strategic places, people will believe just about anything. They can make one believe that he absolutely needs something that will kill him in the end.
As Jerusalem was under attack, Hezekiah was telling the people to not give in to the enemy and to trust in God alone. The king of the enemy tried to tell the people that if they just followed him, making peace, they would get everything that they dreamed of.
Times have not changed. The world wants believers to just believe in what the world is saying. Acceptance of what is sinful is being promoted and believers are expected to agree with it.
Satan promises the world to the believer as long as he compromises his following God. The enemy wants the believer to make peace with him in a way that will destroy his testimony and reject God. The words of the world are said in such a way as to sound good and very promising, but in the end bring about death and separation from God.
The only peace that a believer truly needs is peace with God. Peace with the world is not true peace and will bring about death only. Peace with God is truth and brings about life. Peace with God will bring about war with the world.
Everyday you will be bombarded with media telling you to follow the world’s ways of acting and thinking. The world wants you to compromise your walk and belief in God to follow them.
You have a choice. You can buy into the lies of the enemy or you can trust God.
The world will lie to you saying that you need something or have to believe a certain way in order to have peace and all that you want. These things will only bring death and separation from God.
Do not fall for the lies of the enemy who try to get you to go against God’s word.
I pray today that God will open your eyes to the lies of the enemy; that you will put your whole trust in God alone; that you will be guided by God’s Holy Spirit; and that you will not live or act as the world does in sin against God.
Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread. Isaiah 8:12-13
Rumors and conspiracy theories abound world wide about everything and anything. In a lot of these theories people are full of fear. Things that are small are made to be out to be large. False statements are made out to be true and people believe them
In today’s society the speed at which a thought can spread around the world is lightning quick with the internet. Within minutes, millions of people can hear about some false report, conspiracy theory or fake news and buy into it with fear.
During the time of Isaiah, this was also a problem. People would spread conspiracy theories and spread great fear. God tells the people not to believe those theories, but only to fear Him.
Events will occur in this world, but that does not mean a believer should fear them. Theories will abound, some will be true, some will be false, but the believer as no reason to fear them, God is the One who is in control.
When the believer is trusting in God and knows that He is in control, all he needs to be concerned about is pleasing God. Every believer is called to one thing–to love God with all of his heart, soul, mind and body. When he loves God he will obey God. This is what pleases God.
The things that man can do will no longer matter to the one who is trusting God. Man can only destroy the body, but not the soul. Man and the things he can do, do not need to be feared at all.
You will hear about things that the world will be scared about. Sometimes they will be false theories that are driven to scare people into a certain way of thinking. Other times they may be true. Either way you do not need to fear what is said or happening.
Put your trust in God and fear Him alone. Strive to love and obey God with all of your abilities. He is the one who gives you life for eternity, not just a temporary life.
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will trust God in all things; that God will give you His peace in all things; and that God will help you remove all fear of this world.
