Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our Father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Mark 11:9
When a famous person is arriving in town, everyone gets excited. They roll out the red carpet and line the streets to see the person arrive. Flags are flown and people are talking about it.
The excitement goes even higher when the person is there to help them and make life better. Praises and honor are given to the person in their excitement.
As Jesus came riding into Jerusalem, the people lined the road before and after Him. They shouted praises to Him and about Him in their excitement. They expected great things.
Although He does not physically come riding in on a donkey, Jesus still loves to make an appearance in the lives of people. He now sends His Holy Spirit in to touch and change the lives of people. The Holy Spirit is there to help the believer overcome the world.
However, there are some people who are not excited about God showing up. Sadly this includes some in the church. Upon seeing God showing up, they know that there will be changes needed to be made.
The Pharisees did not like it when Jesus arrived. God’s presence shines light upon sin. It meant change.
Every believer should be excited when God shows up, whether in a church service or somewhere else. He should be welcomed. Praise should be raised up, because God is there to bring about life and to make changes for the better.
In the presence of God, the cares of this world should take a back seat. Praise, honor and worship should take priority in God’s presence.
God wants to work in your life. He wants to be an ever-present presence in your life.
Allow yourself to stop what you are doing and roll out the red carpet for God to enter into your life. Be aware of when God is showing up to make a change.
Do not fear God’s presence, but embrace it, knowing He loves you and wants to be with you. God is desiring a relationship with you and is riding in on a colt to meet with you.
Are you excited about His presence? Or do you dread His arrival?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will welcome God’s presence in your life; that you will give great praise to God; and that you will allow God to change your life.
