Luke 13:32 No Stopping Under Threats

He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.'” Luke 13:32

Setting a goal is something that many people do. They have dreams of accomplishing something and set a goal to achieve it.

Although goals are commonly set, most do not reach their goals. Most hit some roadblock or difficulty and give up. Or the goal costs too much for them to continue to pursue it.

Some of the Pharisees suggested to Jesus that He leave the area because Herod wanted to kill Him. Instead of leaving, Jesus told them that He would continue to do what He does until He reaches His goal–death on a cross.

Every time a goal is set, there will also be some obstacles that a person must overcome. Every goal will come with some challenges to stay focused in order to reach the goal.

The ultimate goal Jesus had was to die upon the cross in order to give life to those who follow Him. Every believer must also have an ultimate goal in his life. That goal is to die to self so that he may live for Christ.

Doing the work of God upon this earth is the beginning of dying to self. Every day God presents opportunities for the believer to do His work upon this earth.

As these opportunities arise, there will always be challenges to accomplishing them. Satan and the world will be out to kill the believer, either physically or mentally. They do not want the believer to succeed.

Yet, each believer must be determined to continue to do God’s work until that goal is met. He must die to self and be a witness to as many people as possible, as he becomes more like Jesus each day.

God is working in your life to make you more like Jesus. You must determine in your heart that you will not give up or stop short of that goal.

When this fallen world puts obstacles in your way or threatens your life, keep going forward. Do not let threats of the enemy stop you from what God has for you.

Keep doing the work God places before you day by day and reach that goal.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the path God has for you; that you will do the work God has for you; and that you will become more like Jesus every day.

2 Kings 18:6 No Stopping

He held fast to the LORD and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses. 2 Kings 18:6

As people are moving forward with something, there will come a lot of opposition and challenges. It can become easy to throw in the towel and give up. Or it can be easy to get distracted on the way and change paths.

It is very common for a person to begin something, but then to shortly give it up for something else or because it is too difficult. Those who continue to press on are the ones who become successful. Very few people become successful without a lot of struggle and dedication. Beginning well is easy, but finishing well is a challenge.

Hezekiah had become king of Judah and immediately he went through the nation and had all the high places to the false gods torn down. He focused on serving God and obeying all of His commands. He chose to hold fast to God and refuse to stop.

Starting to following God is not a difficult thing to do for most people. However, continuing to follow Him and obey Him may be a challenge. It challenge one’s belief and trust in God. It challenges his focus on serving God.

As soon as one begins to follow God, the world will strive to stop the following. Things will attempt to get in the way and distract the person from God and His commands. Reasons to not obey will constantly pop up.

The believer must hold on fast to God and not give up. He must hold on to God as though he were holding on to a rope that his life depended upon, because his life does depend upon God. One cannot save his life, but once saved he needs to honor God with his life by obedience.

At some point in your life, you have chosen to follow God and obey Him. The world will do what it can to distract you and turn you away from God and obeying Him. Do not allow yourself to get distracted and disobey God’s commands to you. Hold fast onto God.

Know that God has the best plans for you. The world has plans to destroy you in the end. As you are holding fast to God, He is holding fast to you. God will not allow you to be destroyed. Don’t stop holding on to God.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be dedicated to serving God; that you will know what God wants of you; and that you will not stop obeying God.
