Romans 9:2 Having Great Sorrow

I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. Romans 9:2

Having great sorrow in a heart is very common to many people. Often it is due to a loss of a loved or some other type of loss–such as job loss, health, money, things, or friends.

Many in the world do not know how to deal with extreme sorrow and anguish in the heart. It tears them up and destroys their days. Some will try to end the sorrow by choosing suicide over life.

Paul promises that he has great sorrow and anguish in his heart. This sorrow is over the Jewish Israelites who are rejecting Christ and are cut off from life.

No matter where a person lives in this world, if he is a believer and follower of Jesus, he knows someone who is not a believer. This is something that occurs in every nation, city, town, and countryside around the entire world. No place is immune to it.

Sadly many believers are numb to the fact that most people they meet are not believers. People in the church have grown used to the idea that the world, as a whole, does not believe in Jesus and are dying, going to hell. It does not affect their heart.

The believer who is running after God and has an understanding of His heart, will also have a heart that breaks in sorrow for those who are lost. He will see the lost as dying and with no hope and he will weep over what he is seeing.

That sorrow can be used by God to motivate the believer to be His witness to those dying. It will help him realize that there is a great need to get the gospel message out to as many people as possible, because people are dying with Christ.

As a believer, someone had taken the time to tell you about Jesus. Look around you and see how many more people still need to hear about Jesus. See the world as God sees it, people dying without true life.

You have the message that the world needs to hear and they need to hear it today. Allow your heart to break at the death that is occurring right before your eyes, and then let it motivate you to tell more people about Jesus. Give them a chance to believe.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will see the world as God sees it; that you will see the people dying who need Jesus and weep in your heart; and that you will tell everyone you can about Jesus.

Jonah 2:6 God Will Lift You Up

In a pit

To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit. Jonah 2:6

There are times in the lives of some people in which they are crushed down. Everything that can go wrong appears to go wrong. They have made all the wrong choices and ended up at the bottom of the ladder of life.

While being down, all hope appears to be lost. Most of the friends have abandoned them and the world has turned its back upon them. It is at this point that many will give up, some will even contemplate or bring themselves to suicide.

Jonah had chosen to run away from God and His call upon his life. After running for a time, God had him swallowed by a whale. While in the whale Jonah was at the bottom of the pit of life. It was then God raised his life up out of the pit and gave him hope again.

There have been many believers who have fallen into sin and begun to walk or run away from God. As things begin to fall apart in their life, they feel has if they have no hope left and God will not accept them anymore.

No matter how far a person has sunk in this life or how far he has run away from God, there can still be hope. God is always only just a prayer away. God can also lift a person back up and put him back on the right track in this life.

When Jesus died and rose again from the grave, it gave Him the power and authority to do anything. There is nothing that a person or this world can do that can stop God from being able to lift up and restore a person. God is ready to lift a person back up out of the pit he is in.

You may be in a pit that is brought on by running from God’s call. Look back up to God and trust in Him. Repent of your sins and running and return to Him.

God is right there waiting to lift you back up and restore you. He is a God of great love, mercy and forgiveness. Instead of staying in the pit, allow God to lift you up out of it so that you may live for Him.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will follow God with all of your life; that you will look to God to lift you up; and that you will know God’s saving power in your life.

1 Chronicles 10:4 Nothing Left Without God

Man look out

Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and abuse me.” But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it. 1 Chronicles 10:4

Life in this world can often seem empty and worthless. There is nothing but struggles and death. People hurting people, wars and crimes. Abuse and hatred abound everywhere one goes. Depression and fear. Anxiety and pain. Hunger and sickness.

This is just a small list of what is wrong in this world on a daily basis all over the world. There is not a location in the world that one of these or something else that is bad is not happening.

When one sees all these things, there appears to be no hope, no reason to go on living. It is depressing. Many people have chosen over the years to end it all, because they do not see any hope.

Saul had started out by serving God. God had chosen him to be the first king of Israel. Saul had chosen to not follow God’s instructions and God chose to remove His hand of blessing on him. God had stated that He would remove Saul as king.

Later, in a battle, Saul was severely injured. Rather than take a chance on living, he ended his life. He had no hope, because he did not have God in his life anymore. He chose to walk away from God.

The world does not have any hope in themselves. A person is born, lives, works, plays and dies. There is nothing after death for them, in their eyes. As they are trying to live life, if things do not go correctly, life becomes pointless or unbearable.

Wondering why one should go through all the pain and suffering becomes the focus. Many, as Saul, choose to end it all, because there is no hope in sight, no reason to keep going through the pain and suffering.

As a believer, you have a hope. You know that in the end you will have eternal life in heaven with no more sorrow or pain. This pain that you may be feeling today is only temporary, in light of eternity.

You can share this hope with the world. Every person in this world needs to know this hope that they can have. When a person knows the hope of Jesus, life becomes worth living.

Have and share this hope with every one you meet.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus; that you will share Jesus with everyone you meet; and that many will come to know Jesus as their Savior.

Job 14:11-12 No Hope

As the water of a lake dries up or a riverbed becomes parched and dry, so he lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are no more, people will not awake or be roused from their sleep. Job 14:11-12

Job is requesting that God remove His hand from his life. He wanted God to look away from him so that he would no longer be in trouble and be tormented. While feeling this, he felt that he had less hope than a tree that dies. A tree that dies leaves seeds behind that grow a new tree. A person who dies is done and can never live again.

During the Old Testament times, there was no hope of life after death. The focus was to live for God while on this earth and be blessed during that time. Once a person died, everything was over, there was no more hope.

The world believes this same way. A person is to live by eating, drinking and partying, because tomorrow they die and all is over. Most of the world believes that once a person dies there is no more life to be found.

Evolutionists paint the picture of survival of the fittest. Only the strong will survive, but only until they die, then it is over. It is a dreary, worthless way of living.

When life is looked at in this manner, it is easy to see why Job wanted God to remove His hand from him. He wanted to be able to live life and enjoy it while alive here on this earth. When he died it would be over.

Jesus had changed all of that. He said that He had come to give life abundantly. Jesus not only comes to give life, He is life itself. Without Jesus there is no life, no reason for living.

As a human being, there will come a day when you will die. Everyone in the world knows that they will die. The difference is that if you follow Jesus, even though you may die, you will live. Your body will be resurrected.

This gives you hope beyond today. It gives you purpose for living, in spite of all the troubles of this life. It gives you something to focus on and aim for. You do not have to live in despair with no hope as Job did.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your savior; that you will have hope in Jesus; that you will not fear death; and that God will fill  you with abundant life.
