1 Corinthians 2:2 The Most Important Thing To Know

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2

Knowledge is something that everyone appears to be seeking. People want to know more and more. They want to be able to know more faster and faster.

With the internet, information about nearly anything and everything can be found almost instantly. Information is often sought out to make life easier by making oneself richer, happier, healthier or more popular.

It can be overwhelming from some people as to how much information is available. Many struggle with where to start in their search for good, reliable information.

Paul tells the Corinthian church that he did not want to know anything except about Jesus and his crucifixion while he was with them.

Looking at the bible and Christianity, there is a lot of information available. There are hundreds of topics one can study in the bible alone. Then there are hundreds of more topics that can be studied concerning Christianity outside of the bible.

Even though it is good to know all the information available, it can become overwhelming and bog one down with not having the best information first. As with any topic, there are certain pieces of information that are most important to know first. Knowing these pieces can set a firm foundation for all the other information learned.

The beginning foundation for Christianity is knowing Jesus and His crucifixion. If one begins on anything else, he has a faulty foundation that is not Christianity, nor will it stand the test of time and struggles in life.

Knowing Jesus is knowing what, how and why He thinks, speaks and acts in every situation as He does. Then it leads one to think, speak and act in the same way. And it was His crucifixion that gives a person the ability and reason to live this way.

There are things that you must learn in order to do your job or to just live life on this planet. While all of these things can be important, the most important thing is to know Jesus. You can know everything and gain the whole world, but lose your soul and die for eternity if you don’t know Jesus and Him crucified for you.

Put all of your first efforts and strength in knowing Jesus more and more. Then focus on living as Jesus did more and more. That is the most important information to know.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what Jesus did for you; that you will learn to think, speak and act like Jesus; and that your first focus will be on living for God.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 The Most Important Information

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

At times, in different situations, there is certain information that is of the utmost importance to those involved. That information is put to the forefront, on the headlines, because someone needs to know about it. It is imperative to know in order to accomplish a task or to prevent something.

Often when someone hears that some information is very important, they will listen. Only the fool will refuse to listen to very important information.

Paul said that the first thing that he wants to pass on to the people, that is of importance is the death and resurrection of Jesus. He also points out that this occurred as prophesied in the Scriptures.

Every believer has one piece of information that is imperative for them to believe in. That information is the death and resurrection of Jesus.

What Jesus did is the focal point of what it means to be a believer. He had to die and raise from the dead in order for the sins of anyone who believes in Him to be removed.

If Jesus had died and not rose again, then He would not have been able to remove the sins of anyone. If Jesus had not died at all, then everyone would have to remain in sin, because the wage of sin is death.

One of the most important pieces of information that every believer must share when witnessing is that Jesus died and rose again. If this is not passed on, all the rest of what Jesus taught is meaningless, there is no longer any purpose for a believer to believe anything.

As a believer, you must believe that Jesus died and rose again. This can give you strength and hope for your future, while going through difficult times. It is knowing that no matter how difficult today is, there is hope for tomorrow.

You may be dying today, but in a short time you will be raised to a new life. Jesus came to give life and is able to give it, because of what He did.

As you share the gospel message, this is to be of first priority to every person it is shared with. Let people know what Jesus did.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have faith in what Jesus did; that you will focus your life on what Jesus did for you; that you will find strength and hope in Jesus for your future; and that you will be a witness of what Jesus did.

1 Corinthians 15:3 Most Important

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3

There are a lot of things that appear to be very important in the lives of people. Depending upon what the situation a person is in depends upon what is considered as the most important factor at the moment.

When a person wakes up late, having overslept, the most important thing at the moment is to get going and get to work on time. When a person lives in a controlled neighborhood, and it has been raining steady for two weeks, the most important thing is to get the lawn mowed.

When a person has not had any money to buy food and the cupboards are empty, the most important thing is to find food to eat. When a person has been seriously injured in an auto accident, the most important thing is to get to a doctor quickly. When a person is in the water and is sinking, drowning, the most important thing is to get to safety.

In the eyes of most people, what is most important changes on a regular basis. However, there is one thing that surpasses all things in the level of importance. That one thing is the knowledge that Jesus Christ died for the sins of a person.

One can be on time for work, have the law mowed, have food, have healing, get to safety, but if the sins are not forgiven, then all those things are meaningless. Everything except the forgiveness of sins is temporary fixes, not permanent and eternal.

Many believers start out with trying to change a sinner from sinful ways or to get him to look different or for him to go to a church. The message needs to start out with Jesus dying for their sins and the need to have the forgiveness Jesus provides.

You would not need to believe in Jesus, if Jesus had not died for your sins. There would be no purpose in following Him. If this is true for your life, it is also true for everyone else.

Paul knew this and reminded the people of what he passed on to them, that they should pass it on to others.

As a believer, what knowledge is most important to you? What information must you pass on to others?

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides; that you will pass on the knowledge of the reason Jesus died on the cross; that you will be a witness of what Jesus did; and that you will live for God because of what Jesu did for you.
