Exodus 23:33 Don’t Allow Them Live With You

Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you. Exodus 23:33

Residing with a physical enemy is not something that most people would be willing to agree to do knowingly. The danger of having an enemy so close is understood and avoided.

On the surface most people attempt to stay away from danger. They want to live their lives being happy and carefree in the moment with very little concern for eternity or the undercurrents of the enemy.

God tells the Israelites that when they get into the new land, they are to not allow the people of the land or enemy to live there with them, because they will ensnare them in the worship of their gods.

While people will be quick to say that they would never allow their enemies into their homes, they are allowing the enemy into their homes on a daily basis, and many believers are doing the same thing.

Believers go to church on Sundays, worshipping God and claiming to follow Him alone, but throughout the rest of the week they allow the enemy into their homes. Satan walks into their homes through media of various sorts.

Movies, music and online sites that promote sin and things against God are watched, read and listened to on a regular basis. All these things are often idolized as ‘great’ by many believers becoming a great snare in their lives. Over time of allowing these things, many fall into more sin and worshipping false gods, rather than God.

Every believer must be willing to shut the door of their lives on the enemy and worship God alone. One must be willing to turn and flee from all sin and appearance of sin and be holy as God is holy.

Take an inventory of your life and what you allow into your life. Do the people and things you allow into your life draw you closer to God or attempt to pull you away from God?

The world has nothing to offer that is lasting and life giving. Satan is only out to kill and destroy you. Do not allow the things of this world to be a snare in your life.

Be willing to worship God alone and keep the enemy from getting a hold in your life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to the enemy in your life; that you will strive to be holy as God is holy; that you will worship God alone; and that God will help you get rid of the snares of the enemy in your life.

Mark 8:29 What Is Your Opinion?

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.” Mark 8:29

Everyday people talk about their opinions on what they think about different people and situations. The majority of people tend to make their opinion about someone famous based off of what media says.

If the large media likes that person and portrays him positively, more people will also like the person. At the same time, if the large media portrays the person as bad, most people will hate him or think less of him. Many allow their thoughts about a famous person to be dictated by the public at large.

Jesus had been asking the disciples who the people think He was. After hearing their answers, He then asked the disciples who they think He was. Peter said He was the Messiah.

Every year around Christmas and Easter, the world talks about who Jesus was. Most of the world tends to think of Him as a good teacher and a good person, but nothing more than that, and that is at best. Many also hate Jesus because of His strong words.

Sadly many in the church claim that Jesus is the Messiah, but are still trying to do good works to earn their way into heaven. They also do not want to completely surrender their lives over to Him, allowing Him to save and use them to build His kingdom. They are believing the deception of the media that Jesus is just a good teacher and not The King, The Master, The One in absolute control.

Each person, individually, has to make their own decision as to who Jesus is. Each one has to choose if He is the Messiah or not, if He is in control or not, if He is King or not. Their choices cannot be based off of what others think or say, but off of personal experience with God.

As with everyone else, you also have to make a choice as to who you think Jesus is. It is a personal choice that only you can make. Your destiny on this earth and for all of eternity is based off of who you think Jesus is.

If you believe that Jesus is the Messiah, your Savior, then you must ask yourself if you live believing that. Do you allow Jesus to be your Savior and in control of your life? Or do you try to earn your salvation and be in control?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will allow Jesus to rule your life; that you will know Jesus as more than a good teacher; and that you will let the world see who Jesus is through you.

When A Nation Forgets God

Title: When A Nation Forgets God
Author: Erwin W. Lutzer
Publisher: Moody Publishers
Date: 2010
Pages: 160

Erwin Lutzer looks at seven different lessons that people can learn from Nazi Germany on when a nation forgets God. He looks at how Hitler won the favor of the churches in Germany in order to gain control of the nation.

Hitler had used kind, favorable words to win their support. Once he had their support, he changed some rules that removed the authority of the churches and was able to get them shut down.

Using propaganda and education the people of Germany were slowly numbed to the changes that Hitler was striving to bring about. Most of the Germans would not have accepted the torture and killing that was going on, but due to the change of words and the picture given, it was made acceptable.

A lot of the same things have happened in America. He points out that thirty years ago homosexuality was scorned and hated. Through the media of television, movies, and music it was portrayed first as a funny or crazy thing, but it numbed the people to it. Today it is now widely accepted, even inside the church.

Along with that are the topics of abortion, evolution, drugs and many other areas. The people of the church are being numbed to the sin of these acts and are starting to accept them as good.

The author points out that every believer must keep their focus on God and what He wants. They must remain well grounded in the Bible to be aware of the schemes of the enemy. Satan will strive to get believers to take their eyes off of Jesus and be numbed to what he is really doing.

He is not a doomsday prophet in any way, but does present a picture that the church is allowing the enemy to take over. They are accepting the lies from the enemy.

This is a short but easy to read book. I would highly recommend every believer to read it and see what God has for them. You should pray and seek God in what He wants you to do. Seek God for spiritual eyes that will see the deception that is being presented everywhere around. Do not allow yourself to be deceived.
