His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, Ephesians 3:10
Every organization or business has some purpose for its being in place. They have some focus on what is to be accomplished in the day-to-day operations, with a long term goal in sight.
Any group that does not have some set purpose, has no reason to exist. They will flounder around and accomplish nothing of any value. Having purpose works all the way from corporate settings down to the individual himself.
Paul points out that God’s intent for the church was that the church would make known His wisdom to the world and all rulers and authorities.
Although it is commonly thought of the church being just the building, this is not true. The church is the people that attend a building and give reason and purpose to the physical building. It is people who make up the real body of the Christ, being the church.
Often many people wonder what the purpose of the church is and what their purpose in this life is. Being a believer makes one part of the church, and the purpose, thus, is one and the same–to make the wisdom of God known to everyone else.
This wisdom that is to be made known, is the wisdom God had in providing salvation from the judgement for sin for every person. It is the process of releasing a person from the death sentence upon his head for the sins he committed.
Every believer, as a part of God’s church, has this mandate to make known what Jesus has already done to every person that they can tell. The entire world needs to hear of God’s wisdom and the church body is the one to pass it on.
At some point in your life, someone passed on God’s wisdom to you, to provide you salvation. Once you have accepted the forgiveness of Jesus, you became a part of God’s great church, regardless of what physical building you attend.
Now as a part of God’s church, you have a purpose to pass on that wisdom to others. Be His witness to every person you meet in your day-to-day living. Jesus saved you and wants to save everyone else. Let it be known.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will let others know about Jesus; that you will be a part of God’s church; and that God’s kingdom will grow from your work to be His witness.
