Hebrews 6:10 God Sees Your Work

Hands of Homeless Man Receiving Bowl of Soup

God is not unjust, he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10

Janitors are very important people who often do not get recognized. They clean the workplace very clean every day or through the night, yet, very few people give them thanks. Yet, if the work was not done, immediately every person would notice the trash lying around. They are servants who work behind the scene.

Showing love and helping other people can often seem like a thankless, worthless job. It can often appear that no one sees what a person has been doing in helping someone else out. It is often done behind the scenes.

There have been many people who have served others out of love for God and for other people. As they serve, they are very seldom noticed or recognized. Some of those people give up serving others after a time, because the lack of recognition. They feel as if no one really cares, so it does not matter if they help someone else out or not.

Many of the people who help out in the church can often feel that way. They serve as a Sunday School teacher, or nursery worker, they visit the sick in the hospitals or homes, they help out the elderly in and many other ways of helping out people. Yet it always seems to be hidden from God’s sight.

God does see what a person is doing and will reward the person in the end. Every time a believer does a service for someone else, God works on preparing a reward. That reward may or may not be seen in this life, but it will come. One must not give up on serving others.

You may be one of these people who have served others for a long time and not seen anything come from it. Trust that God sees what you are doing and will reward you in His time. Do not give up serving others.

Jesus served and did not always see immediate results of His service. You are to be just like Jesus. There will come a day when you will stand before God and He will tell you well done, good and faithful servant.

Continue to serve out of love for God and for others and wait for your reward.

I pray today that you will know God’s love for you and others; that you will know God sees what you are doing for others; that you will have the heart of Jesus to serve; and that you will see God’s reward for your work.

John 10:18 Laying Life Down By Choice

“No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” John 10:18

Jesus was talking about Himself as being the good shepherd. He was willing to lay His life down for His sheep, unlike those who are not a good shepherd, but a hired hand.

All over the world people dedicate themselves to do certain jobs. They love that job, or the love the paycheck and are willing to go the extra mile to do the job. However, in those jobs, very few people would be willing to directly sacrifice their lives for that job. It the sacrifice has to occur, it is because it was unavoidable, but not on purpose. Very few soldiers sacrifice their physical life on purpose for another.

Giving one’s life for someone else is not an easy thing to do. There has to be an extreme amount of love for the other person in order to do that. Very few people are willing to do that. It is only done in extreme cases, and then not directly meant to be done.

Jesus went to the cross of purpose to die for every person. He allowed the people to ridicule Him, whip Him, drive the nails into His hands and feet and to hang Him on the cross. Through it all, He did not cry out or fight back in any way.

Those who hung Him on the cross, did not have any authority to put Him there. It was all done by the choice of Jesus. This showed true love and commitment. He did not back down from a hard choice to make.

God may never ask you to physically lay down your life to die, but He wants you to lay down your life before Him. Allow your sinful, selfish self to die and be raised to serve Him. Do this because of what Jesus has done for you.

Jesus died on the cross for you. He laid down His life, so that you could have life. He did not die on accident or by the hands of man, but by His own choice.

Accept the abundant life that Jesus is providing for you. Know the tremendous love He has for you. Lay your life down for Him.

I pray today that you will know the love Jesus has for you; that you will lay your life down for God; that you will tell others of His love for them; and that you will know God is in control.

Ezekiel 4:4 Doing What Seems Crazy

“Then lie on your left side and put the sin of the people of Israel upon yourself. You are to bear their sin for the number of days you lie on your side.” Ezekiel 4:4

As God was getting ready to destroy Jerusalem and place all the people into exile, He sent various prophets to warn the people. Ezekiel was one who brought the message of the coming destruction to the people. One of the ways God wanted to show that message was by having Ezekiel lie on his side on the ground for 390 days and bear the sins of the people. Reading later it shows in the same chapter that after this event, he had to roll over and lie for another forty days.

There are times when God has a person do something that seems crazy. For the person, it may seem insane to do what God has asked him to do. God asked Moses to go before Pharaoh to ask him to release the slaves. He asked Moses to cross a sea on foot. He asked Jeremiah to defy the king. He asked John to step out of a boat and walk on water. He asked Jesus to die on the cross.

Each and everything God has asked a person to do was for a purpose. That purpose was greater than the pain, suffering or fear that person might have had in doing it. His goal is to build His kingdom and restore all people to Him.

God may one day ask you to do something that seems crazy. It may go against the norm of most people, including believers. It may be life threatening. It may be painful.

What God may ask of you, may not be the same as what Ezekiel had to do, in fact, read the Bible and very few people did the same exact crazy thing twice. However, it may be crazy by today’s normal standards, or just crazy for you. It could be just be willing to take a hard stand for Jesus; telling someone about Jesus; going into an area to be a witness that is dangerous; quitting a good paying job to do another work for God in a different place; and the list goes on.

Will you be willing to do whatever God asks of you, regardless of how crazy it seems?

Or would you reject God’s request?

I pray today that God will show you what He wants you to do; that He will give you strength to do the work; that love for God and His people will be strong enough for you to do what God wants; and that you will work to build God’s kingdom each day.
