John 19:30 No More Need

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:20

Jesus was accused of blasphemy against God and was sentenced to die on the cross. After extreme abuse, He was nailed to the cross. At the moment He died, Jesus said, “It is finished,” and He gave up His Spirit and died.

People are known for starting many different projects in and around the house and property. In order to finish the project, one must completely do everything that is needed to be done. If any part is left undone, it is not finished.

Often people will start a project, then skip some of the steps in order to try to get it done faster. One project that is known for people to try and skip the steps or change the order is in putting a model airplane together. As they work on it, they miss one or two steps. When they believe they are finished, there is something missing and it does not work.

When Jesus was on the earth, He made sure that every step of the project that His Father had given him was completed correctly. The project He had been given to do was to seek and save those who are lost.

In order for a person to be saved from his sins, a perfect living sacrifice had to be offered. Jesus was and is that perfect sacrifice.

When He gave up His life on the cross, He said that it is finished. With that, there is no more need to work for salvation. The price had been paid. The project was over and completed.

Too often, believers try to add to the requirements to be saved. They add different things that a person must do to be saved. Yet, Jesus paid the price and it was complete. All a person must do is repent of sins and accept what Jesus did.

You must be willing to trust in Jesus and His sacrifice for you for your salvation. Do not try to earn it, it can no longer be earned. Jesus said that His work was done, the price was paid, it is finished and no more is needed.

Believe in Jesus and now live for Him. Tell everyone what Jesus has done for them. Bring everyone to Jesus. No more is needed.

I pray today that you will know the work Jesus did for you; that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will trust in His death for you; and that you will live for Jesus all the days of your life.

Matthew 27:51 It Was Not Taken

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. Matthew 27:51

The leaders of the Jewish people had led the people to want to have Jesus crucified on a cross. While He was on the cross He asked the Father to forgive them for what the were doing. At the end of a lot of agony, Jesus gave up His spirit and died on the cross.

The Jewish people are commonly blamed for the death of Jesus. Several leaders throughout history have attempted to destroy the Jews for that very reason. Yet it was not the Jews that put Jesus on the cross and caused Him to die.

God the Father was the one who sent Jesus to the cross. The reason God sent Jesus to the cross was for the sins of each and every person who has ever lived. The Jewish people were only the physical hands that put Jesus on the cross. Had not the Father wanted Him on the cross, they would not have been able to do so.

In fact, many times in His life they wanted to capture Him and kill Him, but were unable to do so. He always slipped out of their grasp.

In the very end, Jesus gave up His life. He laid it down to be a sacrifice to the Father. This was for every person who has sinned, which is every person who has ever lived.

Jesus was able to lay down His life because He knew the Father was in control and had something better on the other end. He knew His life was not over, even though it physically came to an end. Jesus would arise to live forever to give life to all.

Keeping this in mind, you must be also willing to lay down your life for Jesus in response to what He has willingly done for you.

God may never ask you to die for Him physically, but you must be willing to lay down your desires to follow Him. Seek Him and desire Him and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Your ultimate goal should be to spend eternity in heaven with God the Father and Jesus, and to bring as many people with you as possible. This is only to show appreciation for what Jesus has done for you.

What are you going to give up for Him?

I pray that you may know Jesus as your Savior; that you will live only for Jesus; that you will tell others of what Jesus has done; and that God will strengthen you in your walk with Him.
