Isaiah 26:8 Walking While Waiting

Walking on a sand dune

Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. Isaiah 26:8

Waiting for someone or something is a thing that most people do not like to do. Everyone wants things right away on their own time.

It is common to see people fidgeting while waiting in a line, or sitting frustrated while waiting to move forward. As they wait, they are thinking about all the things that they could be doing, if they did not have to wait. Often there comes a great anger during this waiting, because the person is no longer in control of the situation and timing of everything.

In Isaiah’s prayer, he tells God that they are waiting for Him, that He is the desire of their hearts. However, as they are waiting, they are also walking in His ways.

Most believers are waiting on God for something. They are waiting on Him to answer some prayer that is upon their heart. This prayer could be for themselves or for someone else, but it is a desire of theirs.

While waiting, just like waiting in a line, many will also get frustrated. They are upset that God is not moving any faster than what He is doing. It is common to see one stop in his tracks to wait for God. Some will stop believing in God, because He did not answer fast enough for their liking.

The true believer in God will not stop, but will continue to walk in His ways. They will live a Jesus did, continuing their mission upon this earth, while they wait for God to answer their prayers.

The desire of their heart is God, so they will live for Him and wait upon Him, not just sitting and doing nothing. They will continue to be active for God.

Focus your heart upon Him and desire God in all that you do. As you are waiting for Him to answer your heart’s prayers, keep walking. Keep being His witness in this world. Continue to live for God and to be His witness in this world.

Do not let and unanswered prayer stop you or distract you from living for God. Keep walking and do not stop. Live for God in every area of your life.

God will show up at the right time and answer your prayer, until then keep walking and waiting.

I pray today that you will seek to know God more; that God will be the full desire of your heart; that God will strengthen you to keep walking in His ways; and that you will work for God as you wait for Him.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 Understanding God’s Ways

Wind blown dandelion

As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. Ecclesiastes 11:5

Scientists are always working hard to understand how things work. They are determined to figure out what makes things work the way that they do. Study after study is done on nearly everything that can be seen or unseen, touched or untouched.

As they study to answer their many questions, often many more questions are raised than are answered. Men are limited in their knowledge of how things work, yet their curiosity is still there.

Two areas of great interest for men is the weather and the human body. They want to be able to control the weather to keep people safe from harm in storms. And the desire to create a human being is great.

Solomon was the wisest person on the earth and knew that one cannot fully understand the path the wind takes, nor how a body is formed. He also realized that in the same way one cannot understand how God works.

Although the Bible does show their are a few principles that God always works on, such as love and forgiveness, there are many things that a person cannot fully understand. God works in one way with a person in a situation, and in a completely different way with another person in the same situation. He heals one way with one person and in a different way with another.

God is above all and in complete control. He is beyond fully understanding. However, one can know that God is in control and does what is best.

Holding on that trust is what can give a person peace and comfort in His life. The greatest thing a believer can do is trust that God knows what He is doing, rather than striving to fully understand Him.

God will work in many different ways in your life. Each situation may reveal a different way that God works. Do not fight to understand God’s ways or refuse to trust His ways when you do not understand them. Just accept what God is doing and trust Him.

If you could fully understand God, you would be God, but since you are not God, you cannot fully understand Him. Instead of doubt and confusion, trust Him as you trust that your body will function and grow the way it is supposed to.

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus offers you; that you will not fear the way God works in your life; that you will trust the way God is working; that you will know that God is working out the best for you; and that you will know God loves you.

Psalm 82:2 The Wrong Support

“How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? Psalm 82:2

All around the world are various groups who have their agendas to change laws of a nation. They want to get support for their group in ways that has never been done or allowed before.

While there are many that are fighting for good things to occur, there are also many who are fighting for things that go against God. They want support for sin.

Nations and groups often support these groups who are promoting sin and demanding that they be defended. In America there are some who have been shown great partiality to the point that anyone who opposes in any way is considered as one who hates.

Asaph is coming against the leaders and people of Israel. They had been defending the unjust and giving partiality to the wicked, those who do not follow or believe in God. He questions them as to how long they will continue to do these actions.

Many in the church have begun to act as the Israelites had been acting. They are supporting and defending the unjust and wicked. Multiple churches have begun to say that one can live in purposeful sin and still be a believer. Sometimes this is done because the sinful person is donating a large sum of money to the church.

Giving preferential treatment is wrong and giving it to a wicked person is even worse. One who does it is supporting a fight against God and His ways of living.

Every believer needs to stand strong and true to God and His word. They need to support those who stand for God, rather than those who stand for wickedness.

God defends the weak and upright, not those who are powerful and wicked. Believers must follow God’s ways.

You will have times where you will be around someone who is living in a purposeful sinful lifestyle. Or it may be around a person who treats others with injustice.

You have a choice in what you do with that person. You can join him and support the sin and wickedness, or you can point him to God and His ways of living.

Work in your own life to defend the weak and upright. Then make sure that you are supporting those who do the same.

Everything that you say and do must be about what God wants said and done. Supporting or doing anything less than this is going against God. Who are you for?

I pray today that you will God’s love for all people; that you will live by God’s standards; that you will support those who live by God’s standards; and that you will turn from and discourage all sin and sinful lifestyles that God hates.

Job 34:12 God Cannot Do Wrong

Rainbow on river

It is unthinkable that God would do wrong, that the Almighty would pervert justice. Job 34:12

Watching some people, it sometimes appears as if they can never do anything wrong. They live such a good life, that they almost appear perfect. Yet, if one examines their life closer, there will be faults found in them.

There are also some people that many people feel as if the person cannot do anything wrong. People often put a politician on a pedestal and believe that no matter what he does, he cannot do anything wrong. Again, if a person really  looks closely at the person, faults will be found.

Job had been feeling as though God may be doing something wrong in judging him. Elihu points out that it is completely unthinkable that God would do something wrong, or that He would pervert justice.

Over time there have been many people who have turned against God because they thought He did something wrong. They had a loved one who God allowed to die from a sickness, rather than heal that person. God allows a person to lose his job. Things in his life do not go correctly and they blame God for it.

It is easy for a person to blame God for things when they go wrong. However, one needs to determine what is considered ‘something going wrong’. When a sickness overtakes a person, most people think that is wrong, but God may have it there for a greater, eternal purpose. Losing a job may feel as a bad wrong, but it may be done in order to move him to somewhere better or to get him out of what will become a bad situation.

God ways of doing things is strange to man’s thinking, but it is always correct and always the best action.

When things go ‘bad’ in your life, don’t just blame God and get angry with Him. Ask Him to reveal His purpose for those bad times. Ask Him how you can grow closer to Him through those bad times. Ask Him how you can be His witness in those bad times.

God will not and cannot ever do anything wrong. His love for you is so great that He will only do what is best for you. Trust Him, don’t blame Him. Despite the problems in this life, there is coming a day when it will be worth it all for eternity.

I pray today that you will know God’s love for you; that you will trust God’s choices for your life; that you will know God never does things wrong; and that you will have a life of perfection for eternity in heaven with God some day.

Job 11:7-8 God’s Ways Are Greater

Distant galaxy

Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above–what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below–what can you know? Job 11:7-8

When one really looks at this world and the universe there are many different mysteries that cannot be explained. There are things yet to be discovered. There are also many things that have been discovered, but cannot be fully explained.

Many times throughout history man has thought he understood something, only to find out years later that he was wrong. People often think that they fully understand something, only to be proven wrong later. Some things are greater than man and cannot fully be understood.

One of Job’s friends, Zophar, decided to speak up to Job. He questions Job about whether he can fully understand the mysteries and limits of God. He points out that the ways of God are much higher than the heavens and deeper than the earth. While Zophar was focusing on sin in Job’s life, he was right that God’s ways are a greater than anything man can think or do.

Believers try their best to fully understand God and His ways, and they should. Yet, they have to understand that sometimes one just cannot fully understand what God is doing or is allowing to happen. It falls down to just trusting Him.

Looking at Job’s life and situation, it is easy to think that all the bad things occurred because of sin, yet that was not the case. Sin in Job’s life had zero to do with the suffering he was going through. This does not make sense to the human mind. Why would God allow suffering when nothing was done wrong? Yet, God did allow the suffering.

The ways God works is so much greater than what you can even begin to imagine. In order to somewhat understand what God is doing, you must have the right perspective of who God is. Know that He is love, He is holy, He is perfect and He is in full control. Knowing these things will help you know that whatever is happening, good or bad, it is done out of love and with your best interest in mind.

You will rarely to never fully understand the why of what is happening, but you can know that it is for your best. It is to prepare you and others for eternity. Trust God’s ways today.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will trust God’s ways; that you will know God’s love; and that you will not fear what God is allowing in your life.
