Luke 11:23 Are You Really With Jesus?

Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Luke 11:23

In every sports game, the teammates must work together in order to win the game. There are often some person who chooses to do his own thing, wanting all of the glory, which ends up costing all of the rest the game.

This type of action, doing their own thing, can be found in many other areas of life. Although they may not say it directly, these people are against the rest of the group, causing their downfall.

After being accused of doing works by the power of satan, Jesus tells the people that anyone who is not with Him is against Him. He also says that anyone who does not gather with Him is scattering.

God has always been a God of unity. He wants one thing for everyone. In order to accomplish that, everyone who is on His side must also have that same focus and purpose.

It is easy for a person to claim to believe in and follow Jesus. These are just words. It is much more different to actually believe in and follow Jesus.

Many people claim to follow Jesus and are willing to go to church, however, when it comes to doing the work Jesus is doing, it is a different story. Although they go to church every week, many do not witness to others, pray for and with others, or snatch others from the fire. They are all talk and no work.

Every person who is living like that are actually against Jesus. They are not with Jesus and are not gathering.

The true believer and follower of Jesus, will do what Jesus is doing. They will spread the gospel message to everyone they can. They will gather new people to Jesus as much as possible.

As you examine your life, you must determine if you are really for or against Jesus. This can be determined by the fruit in your life.

Are you doing the works that Jesus is doing? Are you gathering, rather than scattering?

Doing nothing is scattering, pushing people away from Jesus. Doing nothing is not with Jesus, but with self or this world. It is being truly against Jesus, even though in word you may claim to follow Him.

Ask yourself today if who you are with. Jesus or self and this world?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will do the work Jesus is doing; that you will gather souls with Jesus; that you will not work against what God is doing; and that you will be a witness for Jesus for all the world to see.

Matthew 12:30 Are You For Or Against Jesus?

“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” Matthew 12:30

In order for any business to be successful, all of the workers must work in unity. If every worker does what he wants, the way he wants and when he wants, nothing will happen successfully. There will be division, which will cause a loss of production and eventual destruction.

Working together for a common goal can produce amazing results. Those who work together for the common goal and working in unity and not against each other.

After being accused of working by the power of demons, Jesus tells them that there must be unity and that anyone is not with Him is against Him and scatters.

When Jesus came to the earth, He did not come with ten thousand different goals on the agenda to be accomplished. He came with only one goal. That one goal was to seek and save those who are lost. Jesus came to gather together all who are lost in sin and give them eternal life.

Just as in the workplace, there are many who have their own individual agendas, people in the church have their own agendas. Some are just focused on building a large program, or the perfect worship service, or to have the fanciest building, or some other temporary goal.

Many churches and believers have lost focus of the one goal that Jesus had–to seek and save the lost. Believers who are not seeking to find the lost are against Jesus and just building their own temporary kingdom. They are not working with Jesus, but against Him.

The methods of reaching the lost are as numerous as the stars in the sky, but every believer must have that focus. Either they are gathering or they are scattering.

As you live your life with a belief in Jesus, you must ask yourself if you are with Jesus or against Jesus.

Look at your life and see whether your focus and goal will match up with the focus and goal of Jesus or not. Do not find yourself as the one who is against Jesus and scattering, even though you are claiming to be His follower.

Work in unity with Jesus to reach the lost in this world. At some point, someone took the time to reach you for Jesus, do the same for someone else as you work with Jesus.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the goal Jesus has for your life; that you will seek the lost with Jesus; and that you will be a witness for Jesus to all you meet.

Luke 11:23 Are You With Or Against God?

“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” Luke 11:23

Being with someone requires that the person follows and agrees with the other person. If both do not walk and talk in agreement with each other, they are really not together.

Many businesses require that their workers agree to their policies in order to work there. The policies will line out what their goals and expectations are for each worker. Each worker can decide for themselves if they will work with the boss or against. This often decides if they will even get hired or if they will be able to continue with the job.

Jesus just talked about a kingdom being divided. He now says that if is anyone not with Him or gathering with Him is against Him.

It is easy to say that someone believes in and follows Jesus. However, it is entirely something to actually believe in and follow Jesus.

There are many who claim to believe in Jesus, yet continue to live a full life of sin, refusing to repent and turn from some sins. Others will claim to believe in and follow Jesus, yet, are not being a witness or discipling others to be like Jesus.

In both cases they are not really with God, but against God. They are in rebellion against what Jesus had told them to do and how to be.

The true believer will be walking alongside Jesus striving to be more like Him, both in character and in action. They will put on the righteousness and holiness of Jesus. They will go out and gather in people to believe in and follow Jesus. They will make disciples of all men, women and children.

It is a choice of being with God or with the world.

You have to choose who you are with in this world. Jesus set the example of how you are to live and act. As a believer it is no longer up for option as to how you live and act, you must live and act as Jesus did.

Examine your life and see if you are striving to be more like Jesus or more like the world. Are you being with Jesus or with the world? Are you gathering with Jesus or gathering with the world?

How you answer these questions determines if you are with God or not.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will live as Jesus lived; that you will walk with God each day; that you will be a witness for Jesus; and that you will do the works Jesus did.

Joel 1:14 Cry Out To God

Cross overlooking a city

Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God and cry out to the Lord. Joel 1:14

During times of great disaster, sickness or unrest people are scared. People are dying and many are living in fear, not sure what is going on or what is going to happen next. They do not know when things will change and get back to normal.

Many are looking to the government or other organizations to solve the issues of the day. Those groups are at a loss as to what to do or how to cage things. They compete against each other as to the best route to take, yet, not a whole lot changes.

During the time of Joel, the nation of Israel was being overrun and destroyed. He calls for the people to fast and cry out to God.

When great disasters come upon people, the world really does not know what to do. Sometimes it is the world that is bringing on the problems, raising persecution against all believers.

God often allows disaster to come when the people are refusing to serve Him with all of their heart. The church is not being His witness and people are living in sin. God wants their attention, thus brings on disaster.

As this occurs believers must begin to fast and cry out to God. They need to seek forgiveness for their sins and not doing His will. The believers can turn the eyes of the people back to God and get them on the right track.

God is a God of mercy and forgiveness. He is quick to relent bringing on disaster if His people will call out to Him. The land as a whole must cry out to God and turn from their wicked ways so that He can heal them and the land.

You may be going through a time of disaster or trouble, or you may know of others who are going through it themselves. Start with yourself with crying out to God for His mercy. Then as you cry out to God, call on other believers to do the same.

As God’s people call out to Him, He will show up in His great love and mercy. The land, no matter what nation you are a part of, needs you to be crying out to God for it. Seek God and know His salvation.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will seek God’s forgiveness for your sins and the sins of your land; that you will seek God’s mercy upon all people; and that you will humble yourself and live for God.
