2 Chronicles 6:4 Praise For Fulfilled Promises

Then he said: “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David.” 2 Chronicles 6:4

Often when someone fulfills a promise to someone else, they are thanked. Others will give praise about the person because he did what he had promised. People will talk good about him keeping his word.

It is often talked about even more because many people do not keep their promises. It is very common for promises to be broken for nearly any reason to not fulfill it.

As Solomon was dedicating the new temple of God, he told the people to praise God because He had fulfilled His promise to his father David.

It is difficult for people to trust anyone to keep their promises. When one does find someone who keeps his promises, it is often slightly to very shocking and unexpected.

God, however, has always kept every promise that He has ever made to anyone and everyone. He has never failed to keep His promises. While this is true, many believers do not always trust God to keep His promises and then forget to give Him praise for the ones He fulfills.

If one stops and thinks about it for a moment, he will probably be able to name of dozens of promises God has fulfilled in his own life recently. Promises of provision, of life, of joy, of forgiveness, of protection, of salvation, of His presence, of wisdom, of direction and much more.

Everyday God is fulfilling at least one promise to each and every believer, if one is really willing to see what God is doing in his life. Knowing this gives the believer reason to give God praise for what He has done and is doing and will continue to do.

Through the Bible, God has given you hundreds of promises. He may also have given you direct personal promises to in your spirit or through someone else.

Many things that occur in your life do not just happen by random chance or good luck, but by the promises and will of God.

Take time on a regular basis to think of what promises God has recently fulfilled in your life. Give Him praise for those fulfilled promises. Then go out and tell others how God is fulfilling His promises in your life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the promises of God in your life; that you will see when God fulfills a promise; that you will give God praise for fulfilled promises; and that you will tell others of what God has done in your life.

Joshua 21:44 The Enemy Cannot Hold Out

The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hands. Joshua 21:44

Battles occur all over the world on a regular basis. Often the striking enemy is able to overcome those being attacked. This can occur because the strength of the enemy is so great, or that the one being attacked does not have the resources to defend, or that they give up in the fight out of fear.

Every so often there is a very small group that is able to defeat a very large enemy.

God gave the Israelites the promised land and then gave them rest. None of the enemies were able to stand up against the Israelites because God gave them into their hands.

Any person who is following God with all of his heart, mind, soul and strength will have some enemies. While most will not have enemies that physically strike them, there will be enemies that strive to stop them from believing in Jesus or at least distract them in their walk with God.

The most common enemy is inside the heart and mind of each individual. Thoughts will often lead a person astray, giving the enemy victory over the believer.

Jesus defeated the enemy–sin–with His death and resurrection. Then He gave believers all His authority to overcome the enemy and gave His Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen them in their victory.

Believers who choose to not stand in His promises and be led by the Holy Spirit, will be defeated by the enemies in their lives. God has given all that is needed to have victory over the enemy as long as one will take it. The world cannot stand up against a believer who is trusting in God’s promises.

You have enemies in your life that are warring for your soul and mind. It is a battle to get you to sin against God and follow the ways of the world.

God is ready to hand the enemy over into your hands and give you victory, however, you must choose to follow His ways and be led by the Holy Spirit. Do not give in or back down from standing up against the enemy, you are given victory.

Jesus has already defeated the enemy, now stand in that victory.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the victory Jesus has won; that you will stand in God’s power and authority against the enemy; that you will choose to follow God with all of your life; and that you will see God defeat the enemies of your soul.

Hebrews 11:39-40 Waiting In Faith

“These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.” Hebrews 11:39-40

After going through a long list of a hall of fame of people of faith, the author of Hebrews gives some disturbing information. That disturbing news was that none of them had received what was promised. Every one of them had died without getting the promise.

When a person is promised something, he expects the promised to be delivered and in a timely manner. No one likes to wait for a promise to be fulfilled. Often, after waiting a while, they give up on the person who made the promise. They do not expect it to be fulfilled any longer.

God had promised every person in the Old Testament His great kingdom someday. Each one of those people of faith lived their lives with that expectation, even though they never saw it.

They had to wait until Jesus came, because of their sins, they were still not made perfect. Only perfect people can get into God’s kingdom in heaven. When Jesus came He was able to remove their sins and make them perfect.

Jesus made them perfect, and will make you perfect also. Yet, His kingdom is still unseen. There is coming a day when He will return and take you into His kingdom for all eternity.

There are many things that God has promised you. You must wait for God’s timing for those promises to be fulfilled. You must wait in faith, knowing God will do what He promised.

Some of those promises will be fulfilled in this life, others will be when you step through death’s door into heaven. Either way, you must trust God will fulfill His Words to you.

When things look rough, and like God has deserted you, don’t give up your faith. God is still there, just as He was with all the men and women of faith in the Old Testament. Some of those just died of old age, others were killed. Wait for God’s promise to be fulfilled in His way and His time. He will come through for you in the end.

I pray today that you will know the promises of God for your life; that you will trust God will fulfill them; that you will not give up your faith; and that your faith in God will grow more each day.
