Numbers 16:26 Stay Away

He warned the assembly, “Move back from the tents of these wicked men! Do not touch anything belonging to them, or you will be swept away because of their sins.” Numbers 16:26

Signs are placed around places of danger to keep people out or to make them aware of the danger. It is always very important for people to stay away or to use extreme caution when in dangerous places.

While most people heed the warnings, some will go in anyway with no concern. Failing to heed the warnings will often bring on danger and cause damage or injury.

After Dathan and Abiram had sinned against God, Moses told the people to stay away from them so that will not be swept away in their sins.

Believers have been forgiven and cleansed of their sins by the blood of Jesus and His mercy upon their lives. Although one is forgiven, it can be easy for him to go back into sinful ways. This can occur even easier when they are around people who are purposefully living in sin.

While believers are to be around unbelievers to be a witness, they must also be careful not to participate in their sins. One may not be able to completely, physically remove themselves from the presence of sinners, but he can remove himself from participation in the sin.

Every believer is to be a light and an example of who Jesus is, separate from sin and the fallen world. Jesus walked daily among sinners, but did not join them in their sin. He moved away from the sin and pointed them to the ways of God.

As believers are separate from sin, the world will be able to see the truth of God and how lives are changed and different in Jesus.

God has forgiven you and removed sin from your life. Do not allow yourself to step back into sinful ways. When you are among unbelievers, do not follow their ways or be influenced by them, but be an influence to them of who Jesus is. Touching and handling things of sin will be a temptation to participate in sin, bringing on God’s judgement against you.

Keep yourself away from sin and sinful ways. Focus on living for and obeying God in all of your life. Walk on the path God has for you and not the path of this sinful world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will flee all sin around you; that God will strengthen you to turn away from sinful ways; that God will strengthen you to keep from being influenced by the world; and that you will be a witness of who Jesus is.

Revelation 14:7 Fear God And Worship Him

He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Revelation 14:7

Every day people drive down the roading going well above the speed limit, breaking the law, because they do not expect to be caught or judged. Since judgment does not occur immediately, people feel that they are free to do as they please.

The world has chosen to live in sin with no fear of God’s judgment. They do not see what is coming.

John records an angel telling everyone to fear God and worship Him, because the time of judgment has come.

It is easy for the world to continue to live in sin, pleasing self, since they have no fear of God, nor do they know God. At the same time there are many ‘believers’ who do not fear God and live in sin, while claiming to be a believer and worship Him. They put off changing and repentance, thinking that they can do it some other day.

God is a merciful and patient God who waits to punish wrongdoing. He does not want to punish anyone but wants all to repent and follow Him. With this, God is waiting to inflict punishment upon all who reject Jesus, but the time is coming when He will punish and judge the world.

Instead of rejecting God, every believer must be willing to give God the respect and fear He deserves and worship Him with their lives, turning away from all sin. Living in this way can start immediately in the life of every person. God’s Holy Spirit will guide a person on how to live for Him and worship Him with all of one’s heart, soul, mind and strength, so that he will be ready on the day of judgment.

You may know of God but ask yourself if you fear God. Do you allow yourself to dabble in sin or do you reject sin and flee from it?

Things may be going well for you today, but God is watching and sees all that you are doing or not doing for Him. Put God first in your life and worship Him with your life. Do not give God a reason to have to punish you in the end.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will fear God with all of your life; that you will worship God with all of your life; that you will repent and turn from your sins against God; and that you will allow God to lead you in how to live for Him.
