Revelation 20:6 Death Has No Power

Live and dead trees

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but  they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. Revelation 20:6

Death is something that is feared by the majority of people. They do not want to die. Billions of dollars are spent every year to prevent death. No expense is spared in this prevention.

For most people, death is an end. There is no hope after death. There is nothing after death. This is often believed whether they love this life or not. Some want death, in order to get away from the pain and suffering in this life, but that is the minority of people.

People fear death, often because they do not really know what happens after death. Or they know that there will be a judgment and they believe they are not ready for that judgment.

The people who have participated in the first resurrection have already died and no longer fear death. This resurrection is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. He has conquered death and sin. In participation of His death and resurrection they have died to self and given their lives over to the control of Jesus.

Believers no longer have to fear death, because they know that they will reign with God in the end. There is hope and life after the physical death on this earth.

Death no longer has any power over them.

As a believer in Jesus, you no longer have to fear death or what this world can do to you. The most that this world can do, is send you home to God for all eternity–physical death.

Now, live life for God, because death no longer has any power.

I pray today that you will know the resurrection power of Jesus; that you will be dead to self and sin and alive to God; that God will remove all fear of physical death; and that you will know the hope of life eternal that you have in Jesus.

Colossians 3:3 A New Life After Death

A New Life

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3

Death is something that most people do not like to talk about. They do not want to think about the fact that some day they must die. Many fear what happens after death.

For the majority of people, death is the end of the line, things are over. When a person is dead, there is nothing more that can be done. It usually brings about sadness and depression, missing the one who has died.

With the exception of a few, most people cling to life. They want to live and keep going for a long time, despite the problems in this life. Yet, there is a death that God wants every person to go through.

God wants people to die to self, sin and this temporary sinful world. Sin had brought death into this world, and it is death that can cast death and sin out of this world.

Removal of sin required a death, which is what Jesus did. Jesus died on the cross to remove sin and death from the lives of all people. He did the work of dying, now every believer needs to follow Jesus in His death. They must also die to sin and self.

Paul said that the believer has died and that his life is now found in Jesus. This death is not the physical death that the world knows of, but death to self and sin. It is getting rid of sinful habits. It is dying to the old way of living in sin.

When a believer has died and is now living in Jesus, he no longer is concerned with the things of this world. He is not concerned with what people think about his beliefs. He is now only concerned with what God wants. It is God who is now moving in him and giving him life.

Allow yourself to die to the old self and sin. Allow Jesus to live in and through you. As a dead person, allow God to move you in what needs to be done and how to do it.

Now that you have died, the world and sin no longer has any control over you. You are a new person found in Jesus. It is Christ who is living in and through you.

You have a new life, live the life God has for you.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will allow yourself to die to sin; that you will allow Jesus to live through you; and that you will allow God to control every part of your life.
