Isaiah 11:5 Holding Clothes Up

Belt on waist

Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. Isaiah 11:5

In order to keep from being exposed, one must wear some clothes. While the shirt will hold itself on correctly, pants often need something to hold them up. A belt of some sort is put on around the waist to hold the pants up.

While most people will wear clothes that will hold up and block exposure, there are some who do not appear to care. They will refuse to wear clothing that will keep them from being exposed. Some will be embarrassed by the exposure, while others will thrive in exposure.

Isaiah is writing about Jesus and that He will have righteousness and faithfulness tied around His waist to hold His clothing on.

The two things that are keeping Jesus from bad exposure are righteousness and faithfulness. Righteousness is doing the right thing every time. It is choosing to live for God, despite the cost. Faithfulness is being able to be relied up to do what is right every time.

Doing these two things keeps a person from being exposed to shameful sin in his life.

It is often heard of some believer being caught in shameful sins. These are not just a simple accidental sins, but sinful lifestyles. This occurs because he is not clothed with righteousness and faithfulness.

The believer cannot cloth himself correctly in his own, he needs help. Jesus has provided the righteousness that every believer needs. Accepting His forgiveness and holiness into one’s life is clothing oneself correctly.

Every believer is also supposed to be living as Jesus lived–in holiness, righteousness and faithfulness. When Jesus left, He sent back His Holy Spirit to give every believer the needed strength and clothing. This is what gives the believer the ability to be His witness to the world.

Take a moment to look at your life. Are people able to see a sinful person who is not really living for God? Or are they seeing Christ in you?

Clothe yourself with His righteousness and then live that life of righteousness. He has given all that you need to live for Him.

Since you have faith in Jesus to save you, live a faithful life to Him. Live in a way that God can trust you with the riches He has available for you.

As you live, properly clothed, you will not have to fear being exposed in the wrong way, but can be His true witness to this dark world.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will put on His righteousness; that you will be faithful like Jesus is; that God will help you turn from all sin to live for Him; and that you will be His witness to this world.

John 3:20 Avoiding the Light

“Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.” John 3:20

John just told how God loved the world so much that He sent His Son to the world to save the world. Only those who believe in Jesus will be saved. He then describes Jesus as the light in the world. Now he points out that anyone who does evil will not come into that Light because they will be exposed.

Light reveals what is hidden. It will reveal what cannot be seen directly. Darkness hides everything.

Although many sins are done openly in the daytime many more are committed in the dark of night. Most thieves will strike a place to rob in the night. They do not want the light of day to expose them. They do not want to be seen and caught.

Even in the church many people like to hide in the darkness. No one likes to be exposed for something wrong. It is shameful. People fear the consequences or the thoughts of others.

In the church many people have a struggle with a dark sin in their lives. They do not want anyone to know about it, because they are a “good” Christian. They always go to church, worship during the worship time, pray out loud, and dress sharply. How could they be a sinful person? They fear how they look.

Any one who comes to Jesus will walk into the Light. They know they will be exposed before God. Every sin will be brought to the light. Doing this allows God to work in their life to change them.

The first step to getting rid of sin in your life is admitting it is there. This allows God to forgive you and clean you up.

Do not be like the world and hide in the shadows and darkness. Walk into the Light. Go to Jesus. Allow yourself to be seen. God already sees everything, even as you hide in the dark. Allow God to do a work in your life and change you. The Light will bring true life to your life. Allow yourself to be exposed.

I pray today that you will go to Jesus with everything; that you will not fear being exposed before God; that you will admit to God the sins in your life; that you will love Jesus with all your heart; and that God will do a new work in your life.

Luke 8:17 Secrets Exposed

“For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” Luke 8:17

Jesus had just finished talking about sowing the seed everywhere. Now He starts talking about letting a light shine out for everyone to see. He points out that everything that is hidden will be made known.

Secrets are something everyone has. Children often have secrets that they are proud of. They will tell another child, “I have a secret that I will tell you, if you promise not to tell anyone else”.

Adults, also have many secrets, although they do not like to share them with anyone.

The secrets that many adults have are often secret sinful acts. Since the beginning of mankind, there have been secret acts that men and women have tried to hide.

Cain tried to hide the fact that he killed Abel. David tried to hide the fact of his being with Bathsheba. Today, all the time in the news you can read about a CEO getting caught for embezzlement, men/women caught cheating on their spouses, important people who had previously did drugs, and much more.

In today’s technological society, many are learning how hard it is to keep secrets. With Facebook, and Twitter, people can see or learn of something, post it, and within matter of seconds, thousands of people around the world know about it.

Jesus said everything will be exposed. Those little things you do in private, will be exposed some day. If nothing else, God sees it. If you do not willingly bring it out into the open with God and turn from it, God will eventually expose you openly.

Turn from all sin and turn to God. Let the light of God shine in and through you. When there is light in you, everything will be exposed. Allow Jesus to clean you of all dark spots in your life. Do not be exposed as dirty. Don’t try to hide any secrets from Him.

You are a witness for God. Let His light shine.

I pray today that God will shine in and through you; that you will turn away from all sin; that you will allow yourself to be open before God; that there will be no secret sins that you are trying to hide; and that God will use you to be His witness.

Luke 4:33-34 Go Away

“In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!” Luke 4:33-34

While Jesus was teaching in a synagogue in Capernaum, a man who was possessed by a demon came up to Him. The demon in this man knew who Jesus was and what His power was. He was scared and wanted Jesus to go away. He expected Jesus to destroy him.

The demon was of Satan and full of sin. His purpose was to cause sin to occur and keep people from God.

Jesus came to the earth to save man from sin. In order to do that He has to destroy sin.

Today, at least in the USA, you do not see or hear a lot of demon possession happening. Yet, many people are still making this same cry that this man did.

People in the world do not want to be exposed. When Jesus shows up, their sin is exposed. They realize they are in the wrong and God can destroy them. They do not want anything to do with Jesus. The world wants Jesus to go away.

Yes, Jesus will destroy all at some point in the future, but right now He has come to save, not destroy.

Even some believers have this same problem with Jesus. They have a secret sin in their life and when Jesus gets close they want Him to go away, or they run away. Many try to justify their actions.

Often Jesus will show up through another person, a real friend or pastor. They will see a sin and point it out to get a change. Accept it, rather than tell them to go away.

If you are one of these, you need to run to Jesus. Find the forgiveness He gives. Seek the deliverance that He can provide.

Do not run away from Jesus. Draw closer to Him. He wants to give you life, not destroy you.

Today I pray that Jesus will reveal Himself to you more; that you will draw closer to Jesus; that you will allow God to change you; that you will not fear God, but trust Him; and that you will be His witness to someone else.

Revelation 16:15 Stay Clothed

“Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remain clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.” Revelation 16:15

God has poured out the vials of wrath upon the earth. Men and demonic spirits are rising up against God to fight Him. The final battle of Armageddon is about to take place.

Every battle that has ever taken place on the earth has one thing in common: neither side lets the other side know when they are about to attack. God is going to be the same way in the end. He will come unexpectedly and strike the enemy.

A thief never attacks while you are watching. He waits until you are asleep and then sneaks in to steal quickly and quietly. In order to catch the thief you have to be awake and watching.

In this verse you are told that blessed is the person who is awake and clothed. Being awake is that you are spiritually awake and watching for the return of Jesus. You are aware of what God is doing or is going to do. You are on the battle front ready for the fight.

Along with being awake you are supposed to be clothed also. There are two things that every believer must be clothed with. First is the righteousness of Jesus. It is the blood of Jesus that has cleansed you and made you holy. All the good deeds you have done has absolutely nothing to do with your righteousness.

The second thing to be clothed with is the armor of God. Each believer is to be clothed with the full armor of God in order to be ready to fight the battle. This battle is not a physical battle, but a spiritual one right now. In the end at the battle of Armageddon it will be a physical and spiritual battle.

If you do not have both of these clothing on you will end up going out naked and be shamefully exposed. You may call yourself a believer in God, but without the righteousness of Jesus, even the demons will not fear you and you will not have the armor to fight the battle.

Today you must keep yourself clothed with the righteousness of Jesus. You must put on the armor of God. Today is a training ground for the future battle. Are you preparing yourself? Are you watching and waiting for His return? Do not allow yourself to be caught not prepared.

I pray today that God will cloth you with His righteousness; that God will help you to remain awake and watching; that you will put on the full armor of God; that you will not be caught ashamed; and that God will strengthen you to be ready for the battles to come.
