2 Kings 17:7 Results Of Sin

All this took place because the Israelites had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of Egypt from under the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They worshiped other gods 2 Kings 17:7

There is an old saying that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Everyday people do many different things, both good and bad. Due to whatever action that one does, there is another reaction to it, sometimes good, sometimes negative. Often people do not expect anything negative to come from their actions, so they do the actions anyways.

God had destroyed Judah and sent them into exile because they had sinned against Him and worshiped other gods.

As finite human beings living in the here and now, many people do not think about the end results of their actions. The only thing on their minds is immediate pleasure.

Many nations around the world have some history of being predominantly Christian at some point in their history. Even though they had been delivered from the bondage and slavery of sin, the people of those nations have chosen to reject God and worship false gods.

Although some of these nations worship physical false gods, all work on worshiping self, self-pleasure and things. As a result, God has brought about disaster on nations and people.

Some believers have chosen to walk away from God partially or fully to live in sin and follow false gods in their lives. God works to draw them back but will allow them to suffer for their choices. Full joy, satisfaction, purpose, peace and love will elude them in worshiping the false gods. Ultimately death, eternal death awaits them.

God brings on disaster in the hopes of drawing people back to Him. As long as there is breath, there is a chance to repent and turn to Him.

You may or may not be drifting away from God following false gods in your life. If you are following any false god in your life, repent and turn back to God. He is waiting, ready and willing to forgive you of any sins you have committed against Him in following false gods and take you back as His child.

Make God the one and only God in your life. Leave the life of sin and do not go back to a life of sin and death.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal any false gods in your life; that God will give you strength to leave the false gods; that you will follow and worship God alone; and that you will never go back to your old life of sin.

Ezekiel 11:18 Returning And Cleaning Up

Dirty room

They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. Ezekiel 11:18

During times of cleaning, it is common for a person to ignore certain areas. They are sort of out of sight, out of mind, so why clean it. It is often thought that there should be nothing there to clean when it is unseen or unused. However, dirt does still compile in all areas.

Leaving a place empty will cause it to get dirty with dust and dirt over time that settles every where. When a person returns to it, he must clean it up to have it prepared to be used again.

At the time of Ezekiel, the Israelites were in captivity, but only for a time. God was going to gather them together again and return them to their land. At the time they return to their land, they would clean it up again, removing all the idols that ere there.

Before becoming a believer, every person has some idols and vile images in his life. The world promotes sin and idol worship. At the time of becoming a believer all these idols must be removed.

However, some will go back to those idols and worship them some more, rejecting God. In the process, God may cause the person to go into exile to get his attention. God’s hand of blessing and provision may be lifted for a time to draw the person back to Him.

Once the person returns to God, the house needs to be cleaned up. Removal of sin and sinful practices must occur. The believer’s heart must be dedicated to serving God and God alone, not being divided between God and idols.

This cleaning is not a one time cleaning, but an ongoing cleaning. It is the work of the Holy Spirit in cleaning the heart of a person and keeping it pure for God to work with.

As with the Israelites, there are idols that you had worshipped in your past. Allow God to clean up your past and remove those idols. Move away from those idols and worship God alone.

Jesus came to remove sin and cleanse you from all sin. Allow Him to do so in your life. Do not allow yourself to go back and pick up those worthless idols, but clean them out of your life. Have a clean temple for God to dwell in.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will allow God’s Holy Spirit to clean up your life; that you will not return to old idols of sin; that your life will be focused upon God; and that you will be a clean temple for God to dwell in.

Jeremiah 29:7 Praying For Your Enemy For Prosperity

City buildings

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. Jeremiah 29:7

Every group or entity has an enemy of some sort. There is someone or something in competition against them. Every business has another business that is in direct competition to them wanting to be the best and largest business. The opponent always wants to be the best.

Most people seek to have the opponent crushed and destroyed. They do not want to see the opponent prosper in any way. They are the enemy.

As God is getting ready to put the Israelites into Exile, God tells them to go peaceably and seek the peace and prosperity of the place they are going to. This is seeking the peace and prosperity of the enemy who had captured them and forced them into exile.

It is common for believers to seek the destruction of those in the world, who are living in and promoting sin. They often rejoice when bad things occur to the enemy or those who are against the church.

Thinking and acting in this way is having a short term view and showing no love.

Even though people are living in and promoting sin, they are still people who need things and need God. Seeking their destruction is not showing God’s love for them.

When the world is falling apart economically and socially, the world of the believer will also fall with There are a part of this world in that they are living in it.

Believers need to be praying for peace and prosperity for those who do not know God. This is showing that one cares for them and wants the best for them. In doing so, this allows the believer the chance to be a witness and point them to Jesus. It shows genuine care for those who don’t know God.

There will be groups or people you know who do not know or serve God in any way. Despite their not knowing God, they need to have food, housing and clothing. You can pray for their prosperity and peace to increase so that they may come to know God.

As the businesses around you prosper and have peace, you can also have prosperity and peace, allowing the gospel to be shared even more.

What are you praying for enemies to receive?

I pray today that you will know God’s love for all people; that you will know God’s peace; that you will understand how God wants people to prosper; and that you will seek opportunities to be His witness.

Ezekiel 39:27-28 Know The Lord God

When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. Ezekiel 39:27-28

Israel had chosen, for a time, to sin against God by rejecting Him and following idols and other nations. Because of their sin, God sent them into exile to punish them. While in exile the Israelites would realize their great sin and turn back to God. He would bring them back to their homeland in Israel. At that point, they and all the nations, would realize that God is God. The nations of the world would see that God is holy and just.

It is common for people to think of the judgments of God to be harsh and cruel. They do not see the judgments, while living on this earth, are methods to get a person to look towards Him and turn from his sinful ways. Until the final judgment at the end of time, God is not judging with the intent of total destruction, but is judging to get a person to turn towards Him.

People who choose to walk away from Him may go through a time of punishment. God may exile them into a difficult situation to get them to turn their eyes back on Him. The exile today is not always being sent to another nation, but one that still displaces them from the familiar or comfortable.

If you are going through a time of feeling exiled from God, take a look at your life. Are you following God or are you following your own ways? If you are serving God with all of your heart, then it is probably an attack from the enemy.

If you are not serving God, it may be God trying to get your attention back on Him. God may be trying to restore you to where you should be. Allow Him to move you and know that He is God and He is holy and just in all that He does.

I pray today that you will know that God is God; that you will know the holiness of God; that you will serve God with all of your heart; and that you will know that God will not leave you behind as you serve Him.

Ezekiel 36:24-25 Pulled Out Of A Nation

For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. Ezekiel 36:24-25

As God had sent the Israelites into exile in various countries, He also told them that He would restore them some day. He promised that He would gather them back up and bring them back to their own land and build them back up. In the process of bringing them back, they would be cleansed of all their sin and they would focus their lives back on following God alone.

Throughout the years, there have been many people who have been forced to leave their homeland for different reasons. Some are glad to leave, while many do not want to leave. Some of those who have had to leave desire to return someday. Others have accepted the move and the new location and never return to their homeland.

In the beginning God had created man to be with Him in His land. Since man chose to sin, that could no longer be the case. God had to remove man from His land. Yet, even as He removed Adam and Eve from His land, He had a plan in place to return them someday. His goal was to bring all of His people from all the nations of their earth back to His land.

As a non-believer, one is living in the world and in the ways of this world. They are not in God’s kingdom. They are living as exiles in a different kingdom, one that is not physical, but a spiritual kingdom.

Through Jesus the move is no longer a move from a physical land or physical nation, but one of the spirit. Each person is living in sin and needs to be cleansed to be brought back into God’s kingdom.

Jesus died on the cross to remove the sin in your life and bring you back into His kingdom. You are removed from the nations and power of this world and placed in His kingdom. There will come a day when you will be physically removed from this world and placed in heaven, God’s eternal kingdom and home.

Are you following Jesus and getting ready for that move back home?

I pray today that you will know the cleansing power of Jesus; that you will allow God to move you to His kingdom; that you will follow Jesus with all your life; and that you will no longer live in the ways of this world.
