You have established your people Israel as your very own forever, and you, LORD, have become their God. 2 Samuel 7:24
People around the world have one thing in common that they want to feel wanted and needed. They want to have purpose in this life. In desiring this, people are always searching for purpose and need.
In order to find these things, people will do nearly anything they can. Often they are searching in the wrong areas. The search usually is finding people or things, which really do not solve the problem. In this process, they will often bounce from one thing to another or one person to another, not finding what they desire.
As David was beginning to be the new king of Israel, God appeared to him and stated He was with him and will establish him and his family forever as His. David praises God for making the people of Israel His very own.
Being God’s people is something that the majority of the world does not see or know the benefit of. It does not make sense to the world. They want something that they can feel and touch physically.
During the Old Testament, Israel was God’s chosen people. It was an exclusive group. However, when Jesus came, He opened this door to everyone. Any one who believes in Him are now a part of God’s people.
It was even brought further, not only are believers are part of God’s people, they also become a child of God, they become family with God. They are wanted, loved, and have a purpose. This becomes an establishment that lasts for all eternity. It does not change as seasons, or fashions, or trends, or anything else changes. God does not die off or move away as people do. The purpose is the same for all eternity–to love God and love others.
As you are walking through this life you need purpose. You need to feel wanted and desired. This can be found only in Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He is ready and willing to graft you in as His people and His family. You can be His child for all eternity.
God will never stop loving you or go away. God is always there for you. This is a firmer establishment than anything that this world can offer you. It will last for eternity.
How are you established today?
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know you can be family with God; and that you will be established in God’s love and family.
The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the LORD your God and walk in obedience to him. Deuteronomy 28:9
People are usually known by what they do. It is common for men, when talking to tell each other what they do for a job or career. For many people it is their job or career is what defines who they are, it becomes their reputation. Jobs or careers are what most people do with the majority of their time.
While there is nothing wrong with having a job or career, that is not really what make the person who they are. There is a grander, life-long description that describes a person. This can be seen in how they act and react to situations. It is seen in what their overall view of life is.
God had raised up the Israelites into a nation. All they had to do was keep the commands of God and obey Him. If they did that, God would establish them and set up their reputation as His holy people. They would belong to God and God would let the world know that.
Although believers no longer have to follow the law for salvation, God still desires His people to obey Him and follow Jesus. In the process of obeying God and following Jesus, every believer will be established on this earth as His holy people.
People will see the believer’s reputation as one who believes in God, obeys God, follows God. They will see the reputation of one who shows love, grace and mercy just as Jesus shows. People will talk about the reputation of the believer.
As a believer, you are a child of God. You are a part of His holy family. You have a family reputation to uphold. God is a holy, loving God, who is merciful and full of grace.
Obeying God, will put love, grace and mercy first in everything you do in this life. It will cause God to stand out front in your life. Your reputation will be established as one of God’s holy people. This is not ‘holy than thou’ but pure holiness, staying out of sin, holiness.
Going through life, you will establish a reputation. How you are known as? Are you known by your job, career, or accomplishments in this world?
Or are you known as a child of God, holy and pure?
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will learn to obey all of God’s commands to you; that people will know you as a follower of Jesus; and that you not be ashamed of Jesus.
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, Ephesians 3:17
Every person has some roots as to who he is. Ancestry plays a large part in who a person is. Often people are determined who they are by who their parents were and where they were from. For many years in America, people were labeled as some nationality because within two to three generations, they had family that had immigrated from another nation. Their roots were from another nation.
Although ancestry is still looked at, it is not seen as much. Yet, people are still rooted in things that are often family related. It is common to see people rooted in their job positions. What their position is, determines who they are.
Those who have not become believers are rooted in the things of this world and the sin of this world. It is the things and sin of this world that determines who they are. Since they are rooted this way, they do not know anything different.
Some believers are rooted in a church. They see themselves as some denomination or another. This is not the root God has given them. The physical church does not give them purpose or meaning in this life.
Believers, however, are to have a different root system. They are rooted in love. Scriptures state that God is love and that Jesus is God, therefore Jesus is love. He gives the believer a root and meaning in this life.
Love becomes the whole purpose of the believer’s life. It is what causes a person to turn from sin. Love is what causes a person to tell another person about Jesus. Love is what causes a person to forgive, have mercy, show grace and be patient.
God’s love is what begins to define who a person is. It gives the person an eternal purpose and value.
As a believer you must look at what you are rooted and established in. Your base line root system must be rooted and established in Jesus–Love. Love is what should determine your every action, thought, motive, and word.
Being rooted in love will keep you from sin and on the right path with God. It will make you more like Jesus everyday.

I pray today that you will know the love of God; that you will know the salvation Jesus gives you; that you will live in the love of God; and that your life will show the love of God.
