Revelation 3:4 Are Your Clothes Dirty?

Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. Revelation 3:4

Everyone expects clothing that is put on to be clean and presentable. Once the clothing gets soiled, they are expected to get cleaned before using again.

In many businesses, the workers are expected to dress in business attire that is clean. They work in an environment that does not usually get a person’s clothing dirty. If their clothing gets soiled, they have to change their clothing or else they are in danger of losing their position.

John tells the church of Sardis that some have not soiled their clothing because of their deeds done. Those people will walk with God, dressed in white because they are worthy.

God expects people to do various types of work for His kingdom. All of these works focus on building up His kingdom. When a person is doing what God has called him to do, he will not get his clothing dirty with the things of the world.

This fallen world is full of sin and sinful activities. The world strives hard to get the believer to follow their ways and get his clothing dirty with sin.

In every situation, God has provided a way out of stepping into sin and getting soiled. Sadly many believers are like little children in that they love to get into the mud and cover themselves with it. They want to look just like the world, covered in sin. Instead of resisting temptation, they walk into it soiling their souls.

The believer who chooses to follow God, will run away from the mud of sin. He will keep himself clean by resisting temptation and clothing himself with the righteousness that Jesus provides. At that point, he will be worthy of God.

As a believer you must be willing to look at yourself and see if you have soiled your clothing with sin. When Jesus had forgiven you, He gave you a robe of pure white righteousness.

Do not allow yourself to walk in the ways of the world and get those clothes dirty with sin. Keep yourself pure and holy before God, so that you will be considered worthy before God.

Be alive and victorious in Jesus, remaining in clean clothing, not sin-soiled clothing.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the forgiveness of sin Jesus offers; that you will keep your soul clean of sinful activities; that you will follow God with all of your heart; and that your deeds will honor God.

Ezekiel 24:13 Refusing To Be Clean

Muddy hands lifted up

Now you impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would  not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided. Ezekiel 24:13

Some children love to play in the dirt and get dirty. They have a wonderful day on the days it had just rained and there is mud everywhere outside to play in. Children often do not care if they are dirty.

Parents work to keep their children clean. Children will be told to stay away from the mud or out of the dirt. When they come in the parents will quickly try to clean them up from the dirt. Many will fight against getting cleaned up and some will go back out into the dirt again.

God speaks against the people of Israel because of their sinful acts. They had been very impure in acting in sinful sexual acts and thoughts. God tried to clean them up, but they refused and stayed in their sinful ways.

God is a pure and holy God and He wants all of His people to be in the same way, pure and holy. He made a way for that to happen by sending Jesus to pay the price for people to be cleansed and made pure and holy.

While there are many who allow God to cleanse them and they strive to remain clean, there are also many who refuse to be cleansed and remain dirty. They continue to live the same sinful lifestyle with no regard to God’s call to holiness. The enjoyment of sin is so great that they do not want to be clean.

For those who refuse to be clean, there is coming a day of judgement against them. Every believer must allow God to work in his life and make him clean. Doing so shows true love for God and true acceptance of what Jesus has done for him.

As a believer God is at work in your life. Jesus is right there ready to cleanse you and help you remain clean. You have to make the choice to accept or reject what Jesus has done and is doing in your life.

Do not allow yourself to go back into the mud and dirt of sin making your life dirty again, thus bringing upon you God’s wrath. Be cleansed and Holy as Jesus is. He will give you the ability to do so, if you allow His Holy Spirit to guide you.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of all sins; that you will allow God to cleanse you of all sin; that you will allow God’s Holy Spirit to guide you away from all sin; and that you will be holy before God.

Leviticus 11:43 Stay Clean

Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them. Leviticus 11:43

Being clean is something that most people strive to do. When a person gets done working hard and has been made dirty, he is quick to take a shower and clean the dirt off. He does not want to be found dirty around others.

Though the concept of being physically clean, there is another type of clean that most people ignore. That type of clean is being spiritually clean. Every person is born into a world of sin and quickly adapts to the sinful ways of the world.

As God was giving Moses the directions on what to do to worship Him and how to be holy, one of the things stated was staying away from some animals that can cause defilement. God had listed groups of animals that a person was not to eat or even touch because they would defile the person and make him dirty.

Although with the coming of Jesus the defilement of animals was erased, there are many other things or ways that a person must not defile his body with. These things are not so much physical as they are spiritual things.

For the believer in a fallen world, it is easy to get defiled with sinful things of this world. Going through life day by day he will always come in contact with sin. If he is not careful, he will take a part in the sin and become unclean.

Sin shows up in how people talk, act, react, see and think. Walking down the street, turning on a tv, walking among the world are just a few ways that a person can be swayed to touch something sinful. The world wants the believer to join them in sin and be made unclean.

Every day you will be tempted to defile yourself before God. While the world will choose to be unclean, you must keep yourself clean from all sin. Turn away from sin and do not even touch it in any way. Do not set yourself up to be tempted to sin.

Jesus cleansed you from all sin with His death upon the cross. He made you clean before God. Don’t go back into sin and become dirty again. Do not defile yourselves by touching the sin of this world.

I pray today that you will know the cleansing of sin by Jesus; that you will not touch anything sinful in this world; that you will focus your life upon God; and that you will be holy in God’s sight through the power of Jesus.
