Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:33
Thousands of books and websites are everywhere that talk about how to be prosperous. People will pay thousands of dollars to find out how to be prosperous. They are looking for the magical trick to build their wealth, along with being able to live longer.
As people purchase all of this information, very few actually gain any real wealth or become prosperous. Or they get prosperous for a short moment, then go back down again.
Moses told the people to obey all that God had commanded so that they may live and prosper with long lives in the new land.
Financial gain appears to be very good and prosperous when one sees or immediately upon receiving it. However, financial gain often disappears very quickly. It also brings a lot of fear and uncertainty with it. It is an elusive gain that fades as fast as one receives it.
Rather than seeking to be physically prosperous with money, the believer must seek to obey God in everything that He commands. Obedience to God brings about perfect love, joy and peace, regardless of the situation and gives purpose to life here on this planet. These are things that nothing can take away or destroy and will last for eternity.
Every command God gives is meant to bring a full and abundant life to the believer. Unlike some who think God is out to destroy them, God desires to give a full life to each and every person.
No matter who a person is, where he lives, or his family line, he can have this full life, if he is willing to obey God in every way.
God has a plan to give you a full and prosperous life. This life may not look like what the world is seeking, but it is one that cannot fade, rot, be stolen or lost. In order to gain this prosperous life all, all you need to do is obey God in every area of your life.
Allowing God to be your ruler will ensure that you live the perfect and prosperous life that the world cannot find or understand. Seek God and not the temporary things of this fallen world and you will have a prosperous life.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will strive to obey every command of God; that God will give you the strength to trust and obey Him; that you will see the prosperity in obeying God; and that you will know the peace and contentment you can have in obeying God.
