1 Chronicles 17:16 Who Am I That God Helps Me?

Who am I, LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 1 Chronicles 17:16

People want to feel important and needed. They want to believe that they are valuable. There are always arguments in the workplace that the worker has because he feels he deserves more pay than what he is getting. People feel tend to always feel that they deserve more than they are getting.

When people get a promotion or some other honor, most people feel as they got what they deserved, if not wanting yet more. This is often done is self pride.

David had decided that he wanted to build a temple for God. God loved his heart, but told him that he was not the one to do it, but his son would build the temple. God also told him that he would always have a son sitting on the throne.

David was overwhelmed with what God had said and asked who he was that God would do this for him. He did not get angry with God, but understood the favor that God was giving him, and could not understand it.

It is common for believers to develop the same attitude that the world has. They often feel that they deserve to have the best of everything, and then get upset when God does not give them  something they desire.

The reality is that no person really deserves anything but painful death from God. Sin has brought death upon every person, including believers. Yet, God loved people so much that He provided a way out of that death. He has given every believer unmerited favor upon their lives.

In every believer, God has poured out many blessings and His favor in ways that the world cannot understand.

Take a look at your own life. How has God blessed you over the days and years? Despite any situation you may be going through or have gone through, God has still given you great favor.

God has also spoken over your life and promised a great future. Your future includes eternal life with no more pain or suffering.

Over time God has already brought you through many things that you did not deserve to survive from. God did this because of His great love for you, not because you deserved anything.

Realize who you are in Christ Jesus. You are God’s child, because of Jesus, not because of you. Give God praise for what He has done for you and made you to be.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God has done for you; that you will praise God for His work in your life; and that you will live for God every day.

Luke 15:21 True Remorse

“The son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” Luke 15:21

Jesus was telling the parable about a son who went against his father’s desires and started living a wild life. He chose to move away from home and just party. After everything came crashing down on him and failed, he decided to go back to his father.

His words to his father were ones of great humility and remorse. He knew he messed up badly and was now unworthy of any type of love from his father.

People often state that they are sorry for something wrong they did once they are caught. Very few people come up and admit doing wrong before being caught. This goes for both believers and non-believers. Most people hope to never get caught for the wrong that they did.

Once they get caught and repent of the wrong, it is usually more of a being sorry at being caught, not for what was done wrong.

The boy in the story realized he messed up so bad that his father would have the right to disown him entirely. Yet, the father showed great love to him and accepted him back.

As a believer that is human, every person makes mistakes and sins against God at times. Every time you sin, you must look at that sin as so great that God has the right to disown you and punish you. Do not think of the sin as some little thing, it carries the punishment of a death sentence.

Repent of the sin with the mind that God hates that sin. Know that you do not deserve anything from God. This is true remorse for the sin.

Just like the father in the story, God will open His arms and accept you back with great love. God wants to forgive you. God wants to love you and have a relationship with you.

I pray today that you will turn to God and away from sin; that you will repent of every sin; that you will know the love and forgiveness God has for you; and that you will give your life to serve God.
