Revelation 14:7 Fear God And Worship Him

He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Revelation 14:7

Every day people drive down the roading going well above the speed limit, breaking the law, because they do not expect to be caught or judged. Since judgment does not occur immediately, people feel that they are free to do as they please.

The world has chosen to live in sin with no fear of God’s judgment. They do not see what is coming.

John records an angel telling everyone to fear God and worship Him, because the time of judgment has come.

It is easy for the world to continue to live in sin, pleasing self, since they have no fear of God, nor do they know God. At the same time there are many ‘believers’ who do not fear God and live in sin, while claiming to be a believer and worship Him. They put off changing and repentance, thinking that they can do it some other day.

God is a merciful and patient God who waits to punish wrongdoing. He does not want to punish anyone but wants all to repent and follow Him. With this, God is waiting to inflict punishment upon all who reject Jesus, but the time is coming when He will punish and judge the world.

Instead of rejecting God, every believer must be willing to give God the respect and fear He deserves and worship Him with their lives, turning away from all sin. Living in this way can start immediately in the life of every person. God’s Holy Spirit will guide a person on how to live for Him and worship Him with all of one’s heart, soul, mind and strength, so that he will be ready on the day of judgment.

You may know of God but ask yourself if you fear God. Do you allow yourself to dabble in sin or do you reject sin and flee from it?

Things may be going well for you today, but God is watching and sees all that you are doing or not doing for Him. Put God first in your life and worship Him with your life. Do not give God a reason to have to punish you in the end.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will fear God with all of your life; that you will worship God with all of your life; that you will repent and turn from your sins against God; and that you will allow God to lead you in how to live for Him.

2 Peter 2:9 Rescue Or Punishment

“If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.” 1 Peter 2:9

Peter has just stated how God had saved Noah from death as He destroyed the world by a flood, and how God saved Lot from destruction as He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Now he states that if God can do those things then, He can still do it today.

Think about what Noah and Lot had gone through. Imagine what it must have been like to see everyone destroyed right before your eyes. Everything you knew was destroyed, including your home. Your entire past was just wiped away before you.

Prior to talking about how God had saved Noah and Lot, Peter had talked about false prophets in this world. People living to please themselves. They may seem to be getting away with living that way right now, but God has a plan of judgment on them some day.

Although several thousand years have passed, things have not changed a whole lot, other than technology and the number of people. People still live in sin and promote sinful lifestyles. As a believer you may look at all of this and think they are getting away with it.

As the people are living in sin and promoting it, they seem to be prospering. Yet, God is storing up a day when He will bring judgment upon them for their sins.

Some of those judgments may start in this life. God promised never to flood the entire earth again, but He did not promise that there would not be other disasters. In life there are times of great disasters that come up on individuals, cities, states, or nations. These can be judgments upon the people by God.

As a believer you do not need to fear these judgments or trials. Trust God and follow Him in and through them. God knows how to protect you in the judgments.

Are you trusting in Jesus and following Him with your whole life? If you are, then God will be with you and save you in the end.

If not, beware that His judgment will come some day.

I pray today that you will believe and follow Jesus with your whole life; that you will not fear disasters that happen; that you will trust God in every situation; that you will not fear when the ungodly prosper; and that God will help you be His witness.
