Hebrews 6:7 Are You Producing A Crop?

Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. Hebrews 6:7

Farmers work very hard in order to get a crop that produces enough for themselves and for them to sell. One of the things that a farmer desires is rain to come, so that the things planted may grow abundantly. Without the rain, there is no production of anything.

However, even with the rain, sometimes all that grows are thorns and thistles, not giving the farmer the desired crops.

The writer talks about the land that has received rain and produces a good crop is blessed by God.

People are just like the land. God pours the rain of His Holy Spirit into their lives to grow some good crops. Just like on the fields of the earth, the rains come at different times and different ways, producing different results.

Often people receive the rain of God’s word in their lives, but only produce thorns and thistles. They do not go out a share the gospel message with others or they continue to live in ignorant, sinful ways.

Many in the church are unable to tell of a recent time in which they have grown in the Lord or sowed into the lives of someone else God’s word.

Every believer is a part of the crop of God’s kingdom. God’s word is being poured out into one’s life. The rain of His Holy Spirit is being poured out each day, allowing the person to produce fruit in alliance with His Holy Spirit.

God expects each plant to produce fruit. This fruit is a changed life that is bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit and fruit of bearing witness of who Jesus is.

As a believer, you are also a plant in God’s kingdom that is expected to grow fruit. God is raining in your life His presence and word so that you may change, grow and produce more fruit for His kingdom.

Ask yourself if you are producing God’s fruit in your own life and in the lives of others.

Do not allow yourself to go back to producing the sinful fruit of this fallen world, but produce the life-giving, life-changing fruit of God, that wells up into eternal life.

Is your land producing today?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be filled with God’s Holy Spirit; that you will change to live according to God’s ways of living; that you will produce a crop in your life for God’s use; and that you will produce a crop in this world to build God’s kingdom.

Proverbs 3:9-10 Honor God With Your Earnings

Dam overflowing

Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10

Bringing in more money is the goal of many people. The goal is to get more money so that they can do more with it or to have a better retirement in the end.

While the majority of people do not make money to save and make more money, most people want to have more so that they can spend it. They want to be able to get things that they desire or that makes them look better. Others want to be able to do more things of their hearts desire.

In order to do this, they use one hundred percent of what they earn for their own personal purpose and goals.

Solomon tells the people to honor God with their wealth, with the firstfruits of their crops. The purpose of this, is so that God can overflow their barns and vats with more.

During the time of Solomon, wealth was most often found in crops and animals. The giving of the first fruits was an early concept of tithing to God. The first and best of a person’s earnings were to be dedicated to God.

God has not changed that method of honoring Him. Today one is still supposed to honor God with a tithe off of his earnings. This is the first ten percent of all he has earned.

Giving of tithe is to be done out of love for God. It is to be done to provide for God’s house (the physical church) and the work God has being done.

While many see this as a ‘work’, it is not. It should be seen as an honor to God. It is giving back just a small portion of what God has blessed one with. God has given the believer eternal life, why not give back a little of the money? This way He can bless one with more.

Each time you receive some pay for your work, take the first portion of it and give it to God. Trust God in providing for all that you need and more.

As you pour into His kingdom, God will then be able to pour more into you. Don’t be selfish with what you get. God owns it all and can give you more as needed.

I pray today that you will see God’s hand of provision in your life; that you will trust God with all that you own; that you will be generous in giving to God; and that you will trust God to provide abundantly for all that you need.

Hosea 9:2 The Food & Wine Will Fail

Threshing floors and winepresses will not feed the people; the new wine will fail them. Hosea 9:2

Hosea was telling the people of Israel to not rejoice. They had been found guilty of committing many sins and rejecting God. Punishment was coming to them. Many in Israel felt that because their crops were so good, that they would be able to support themselves and did not need God at all. They are warned that everything will fail them.

Farmers go out and plant huge fields of crops for food. They expect the crops to come in large enough to be able to feed their own family and sell a lot to others for more money, so they can get wealthy and feed more people.

On the surface this looks like it would provide for needs of all the people everywhere to get enough food. However, without God, those crops will not always come through as the farmer may expect. God has to be the one to provide the right amount of water and sunshine for those crops to grow. As people refuse to follow God and give Him all the credit, God pulls His hand of favor away and the crops will not grow as well, which will not feed the people.

Not every person grows food for themselves or for a profit. People use other things to make a profit and provide for themselves. Working many different types of jobs, people strive to have large bank accounts in order to provide for all of their needs. In the same way, if they are not following God and allowing Him to be in control, the bank accounts will fail. There will not be enough money to provide for all the needs one may have.

Life consists of more than just food and drink. One needs the nourishment of God and His word in his life on a daily basis.

As you are going through your life, what are you expecting to nourish you? Is it the food you buy with the money your job provided?

Or is it God providing through your job and His grace and mercy?

Keep your eyes and life focused on God and allow Him to be the one in control. Then God will provide for all of your needs. Your hands will work and be prosperous for your needs and the needs of others. Without God, they will fail.

I pray today that you will know God’s provision for your life; that you will trust in God alone; that God will provide for others through you; and that God will receive all the credit for the blessings in your life.

Matthew 13:23 Producing a Crop

“But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Matthew 13:23

The final part of this parable looks at the seed that falls on good soil. When the soil has the correct mixture of soil, fertilizer and moisture it is a place a seed can grow.

Look at a tomato plant. One little seed is planted in the correct soil. It grows. When it produces tomatoes, you will have dozens of tomatoes on one plant. Each of those tomatoes produce many other seeds that could potentially produce many more plants and more tomatoes.

As the gospel message is passed on to other people, some will reject it immediately; others will accept for a while then reject it; but some will understand and follow.

One sign of a person who has understood the message is one who will produce a crop. The production process for a Christian is planting more seeds of the gospel into the lives of more people.

Just like someone growing a garden: if you only plant one seed, you may or may not get a plant back; but if you plant many seeds you have a great chance of getting a good crop.

As a Christian you should be trying to plant the seeds of the gospel message as much as possible. Tell everyone you meet and know about the salvation that Jesus provides.

Often believers will not tell a certain person because they “know” that, that person is hard and will not accept Jesus. This is not a believers job to decide. Let God deal with the heart of the person. Plant the seed anyway.

Look at the Apostle Paul. He was zealous against Christians. He sought out ways to kill them. Yet, God got a hold of his life and look what has become of it. Half the New Testament was written by Paul.

Jesus wants you to be His witness. Go out today and sow the gospel message to everyone you meet and know. See if God will bring in a crop one hundred times over. Allow God to use you.

I pray that God will place the desire for you to share the gospel message in your heart; that God will reveal opportunities for you to share His message; that God will draw people to Him through you; and that God will use you to build His kingdom.
