Job 21:33 The Grass Looks Greener

Asian fields

The soil in the valley is sweet to them; everyone follows after them, and a countless throng goes before them. Job 21:33

Watching other people always makes it appear as if they have things better. Looking  at the lives from the outside it appears if absolutely everything is going great for the other person and that there is no troubles or problems in life.

Poor people often watch the rich drive around in fancy cars and live in big mansions and think that the person has it made. Some of those who are ‘making it’ do not live a good life or stand for bad things, yet, seem to have everything easy for them.

Job’s friends had been pointing out how there is only disaster and turmoil for the wicked. Now Job points out how the wicked do not appear to have any problems. Everything that they do is great, though it is against God. The wicked appear to thrive with everyone following them and God does not do anything to them.

Believers who are walking through a difficult trial in life often think as Job did. They cannot understand how they are suffering as they faithfully serve God, yet, those who reject God and are against Him are prospering.

Every believer must remember that Jesus promised that there would be trouble and suffering in this world and that the world would reject and hate them. These are the very things that occurred to Jesus, who was perfect and did not wrong.

One must not look on the outside of the lives of the wicked and think that they have it made. On the outside it may look beautiful and the grass looks greener, but on the inside they are full of turmoil and eventual punishment.

As a believer, you can take a look at your life and see where you really are. The closer you are walking with God, the more the world will hate you and the more struggles you may go through. It is only when you get close to God that the world will try to take you down.

Do not look at the wicked and be jealous for what they appear to have going for them. Yes, they are prospering now, but when it comes to the end, every wicked person, who has rejected Jesus, will be punished for eternity. They will lose in the end.

Hold on to the promise you have in Jesus.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what you have in serving God; that God will remove the desire for what the world offers; and that you will serve God with all of your heart and life.

Romans 8:18 Greater Things To Come

Future Hope

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Romans 8:18

In this life, there is a lot of suffering. It does not matter whether a person is a believer or not, there is suffering. Suffering comes in many different types of forms.

Individuals suffer from sickness, injury, weariness, confusion, being mislead, abuse, physical defects, loss, fear, depression, and much more. Along with directly suffering, many also suffer from seeing others going through suffering.

Suffering is a common place thing in this world. The majority of the world does not know how to deal with suffering. There are many people who turn to different types of drugs, whether legal or illegal. Others will turn to other people for help. Some will seek out death to end the suffering.

When a person is in the middle of suffering, there does not seem to be any hope or an end to it…unless there is something greater to look forward to in the end. There has to be something to hope in and believe in.

Believers are also subject to suffering. Jesus even said that there would be suffering to occur. Yet, as a believer, one has hope, a future to look forward to.

Paul said that with all the sufferings that they are going through as a believer, it does not compare to what is to come.

There is suffering in the life of a believer, because he lives in a fallen world. God also allows suffering to build a person up in Him. It causes a believer to focus on God and what He is doing. It causes  the believer to lean on God and His strength during the time of trouble.

The time of suffering that you may be going through is only temporary. God is working in your life to make you more like Jesus. There is coming a day when He will call you home and you will step into eternity shining bright for the rest of eternity.

While on this earth, you can shine the light and hope of Jesus to the rest of this world that there is a hope beyond the suffering. There is a purpose to go on living. There will be an end to all suffering at some point.

Do not be discouraged in your suffering, but focus on the greater things to come!

I pray today that you will know the hope you can have in Jesus; that you will know the future God has for you; that God’s presence will strengthen you in your suffering; and that you will lean on God during your suffering.
