Numbers 33:1 Stages In The Journey Of Life

Desert highway

Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. Numbers 33:1

Going through life there are many different stages. The amount of stages is different for each person. The length of each stage will also be different.

The basic changes are the birth,  growing up, being an adult, getting older and dying. This is very short of the rest of the changes that occur throughout the life of a person.

In the middle of each of these basic stages there can be untold numerous other changes. Some may be short, while others take a lifetime of change.

Some of the changes can be for the better, such as a good move, promotion in position of a job, marriage, new friends, and many more wonderful things. Other changes are not so fun to go through, such as sickness, a negative move, divorce, death, loss of job, and more.

As the Israelites traveled through the wilderness, they had to go through many different changes. Nearing the end of Numbers, God has it listed the different places they had moved to. There was constant change of location. Some seemed to be better, while others were more challenging.

Every believer is on a journey through this life with their walk with God. The ultimate end of the journey is in heaven for eternity. However, until that time, there are many changes. God moves people around on a regular basis. Sometimes to keep one from trouble, other times for one to be a witness or to do a new work in a new location.

Some of those moves are easy to make, while others are scary and challenging. It can be a move from a loved place/position to a place of difficulty and challenges.

Every move God has a person make, is to help the person draw closer to Him and to be a witness to a new group.

You will have changes throughout your life, just like the Israelites. Instead of fearing change and moves, embrace them. Seek God to find out what you can do with the new change in your life. Ask God for strength and wisdom with the new change. And above all, trust God with the new change.

It is a great journey towards heaven. Be ready for the changes as you keep getting closer to heaven. God has a plan for your life.

I pray today that you will know God’s plan for your life; that you will see the purpose in the changes God allows; that you will trust God’s plans; and that you will be a witness of God throughout every change in life.

Psalm 102:27 God Never Changes

But you remain the same, and your years will never end. Psalm 102:27

Going through life, a person will see many changes the longer he lives. It does not really matter if it was five-hundred years ago, or in current history, things and people change.

People must change as they get older. Their bodies and maturity must grow. If a person does not grow and change, there is something medically wrong with them. Some will choose to not grow in maturity, and are often seen as childish and looked down upon by most in society.

Along with humans changing with time, so do the ways things are done. Technology has changed the ways many things are done and is constantly changing to this day. Not all changes are good, not all changes are bad, but there are changes in the human life.

One that does not change is God. He is the same today as He was during the time of Adam and Eve. God still accepts everyone who comes to Him. God still uses the ‘little’ people in this world to do great things.

Many people believe that God could never use them, or could not really love them. They look in the Bible and see various people used by God that look so good, and feel that they cannot measure up.

Yet, every one of those people in the Bible God used had faults and struggles and God still used them. God has not changed. You may have faults and struggles in your life, but God still chooses you. He still wants to use you.

You have God’s favor on you. It may not seem like it when you look at the momentary troubles you may be going through, but God is still on your side. He wants you to succeed. He loves you with the exact same love that He loved David, the apple of His eye.

Along with God never changing, He will never come to and end. Everyone and everything in this world will come to an end some day, but God will not.

You can rest assured that God loves you and will always be there. Keep your eyes on Jesus and trust Him. See what He can and will do in and through you.

I pray today that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will know God’s love for you; that you will know God never changes; and that you will serve God with all of your life.

New Year’s Resolutions

As the new year of 2017 begins, many people make some resolutions. Some, like myself, tend to refrain from making resolutions because they know they will not keep them very well. They want to start out the new year making some changes in their lives. Most often these resolutions are to make things better for their lives.

Some of these resolutions are for their own personal lives. They can be to start exercising more, read more, stop smoking, eat healthier, stop drinking, relax more often, go on a bigger vacation, save more money, finish school, and the list goes on with no end. These resolutions are usually to help a person be in a better position down the road.

Others will have resolutions that deal with other people more. Some of these can be cut back on working long hours, spend more time with family, visit relatives more, give more to those in need, volunteer more in the church or community, physically help those in need, and again, the list goes on endlessly.

While all of these resolutions can be good for a person to do, they are not the most important ones to be focused on. The first resolutions that a person should be making is ones that deal with their relationship with God. Paul had prayed that God would give the people a Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that they would know Him better.

No person can know God too much. No matter how much you know God, there is always more to know about Him. No matter how much you understand the things of God, there is more to understand. Strive to know God more and more.

The way to know God more is to read and study the Bible more. Make the resolution to spend more time in the Bible and to apply to your life. Spend more time in prayer so that you are in constant communication with God. Keep yourself heart’s ears open to what God has to tell you. These things will build your relationship with Him.

The next thing to make a resolution on is with becoming more like Jesus.

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6

John says that if you have a belief in God, you must live like Jesus did. You must patter your life after that of Jesus. You must act, think, and speak like Jesus did

For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-8

Peter gives the practical side of what it means to think, act and speak like Jesus. All of these qualities that Peter listed are ones that describe Jesus. Jesus was the perfect man, the perfect example of what each person is expected to be like.

I am trusting that in your choosing to read my blog, you have a belief in Jesus to some degree or more. I am trusting that you have accepted the salvation that Jesus has offered you.

If this is true about you, then your goal in life must be to be like Jesus more and more.

While having resolutions to change something in your life is good, the primary resolutions should be to be to know God more and to be like Jesus more. As you focus on these two things, God will guide you in to what changes you need to make. In those changes you may see  the need to exercise more, or eat healthier, or some other common resolution.

As you begin this new year that God is blessing you with, what is God telling you to focus on?

What can you start doing to know God more?

What can you start doing on a regular basis to be more like Jesus?

I pray that God will fill you with His Holy Spirit and guide you in the path He has for you this new year. I trust God will help you change what needs to be changed so that you may be more like Jesus.

God can and will give you the strength you need to be what He has called you to be–like Jesus.

May you have a very blessed and happy New Year in our Lord Jesus Christ!

Radical? Experiment? Making a Difference? Going FORWARD??

Here is a post that Glenn Kaiser posted a few days ago. The post is great to think about at the beginning of a new year. It goes along with what God has been laying on my heart from the book of James. Enjoy reading it and pray about what God wants you to get from it.
