Ezekiel 37:4 Hear God’s Word

Human skull

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!'” Ezekiel 37:4

People like to talk and people like to be heard. However, there is a difference between listening to and being heard. With so much talking going on with so many different people and things, there is often too much noise to really hear what one is saying.

Along with all the noise, people are too busy to stop and really listen and hear what someone else is saying. People pass in a store asking how a person is doing, but rarely stop to hear how the person is really doing. The answer often falls upon deaf ears.

God told Ezekiel to prophesy to some dead bones lying on the ground. Those bones were to hear the word of God, whatever that was.

God is still in the speaking business. He wants to tell the world something and most are too busy to listen. They are dead in their ways of doing things and refusing to take a moment to listen. Their ears are as though they are dead men, hearing nothing.

Being stuck in sinful ways is to be a living dead person. One is dead to what God is saying. This can even occur within the church. Every week millions of people go to church, but never really hear what is being said. They do not act upon what God’s word tells them to do, not do and what to be like.

Just as with the bones in the valley with Ezekiel, believers need to wake up and hear the word of God. God was telling those bones to come to life, and God is telling people to come to life today. Every believer is to put off all sin and live the life Jesus is giving them.

You can ask yourself how well are you listening to God’s word. By this, are you doing what God’s word says to you? Or are you staying dead and not hearing what He is saying?

Jesus came to give you life and life abundantly. However, for you to enjoy that abundant life, you must accept what God has for you. In other words, you must listen to what God tells you and act upon it. Serve God with your whole life, not just a part. Really live for God and not be dead bones anymore.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be alive to God; that you will hear God’s word; that you will act upon God’s word; and that obey God’s every word to you.

Jeremiah 20:9 Speak It Out Loud

Campfire at night

But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. Jeremiah 20:9

There are times when a person has some really good news or some very interesting news that they ‘need’ to share with someone. He will quickly get on the phone to call some friends to tell them about the news. Everywhere the person goes, he continues to talk about the news.

Watch the newscasts and there are times where there is an article titled with ‘breaking news’. It is very important news to hear about in something that most people are interested in. No one is ashamed to bring out the news or talk about it.

Jeremiah had been given a message by God. As he proclaimed it, he was being severely persecuted. He wanted to stop talking about the news, yet, was unable to do so. The message he had was like a fire shut up in his bones and he just had to tell people about it.

When a believer has a solid connection and experience with God, he will want to tell someone about it. When he realizes the great love of God for all people and how lost people are without Jesus, he will want to tell people about Jesus.

Not proclaiming the message about Jesus will not be an option because it will burn within the heart to tell others about Him. Fear of ridicule and persecution will not be able to keep a person from talking. His great love for God and for others will propel him into speaking more and more with no fear.

The world does not want you to talk about sin or Jesus. They will do what they can to stop you from giving the needed message.

Do not let fear of this world stop you from speaking. Have the heart of God for the lost people in this world. Point people to Jesus every day for every situation in their lives. Let them know that there is a God who loves them and can give them real life that will last for eternity, that God will give them a purpose for this life.

The world needs to hear about Jesus. You have to be one who will tell them. Get the message out today.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have the love of God for other people; that God will give you boldness to speak His word; that you will tell others about Jesus; and that God will remove fear of this world as you proclaim His word.
