beyond understanding
Ecclesiastes 11:5 Understanding God’s Ways
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. Ecclesiastes 11:5
Scientists are always working hard to understand how things work. They are determined to figure out what makes things work the way that they do. Study after study is done on nearly everything that can be seen or unseen, touched or untouched.
As they study to answer their many questions, often many more questions are raised than are answered. Men are limited in their knowledge of how things work, yet their curiosity is still there.
Two areas of great interest for men is the weather and the human body. They want to be able to control the weather to keep people safe from harm in storms. And the desire to create a human being is great.
Solomon was the wisest person on the earth and knew that one cannot fully understand the path the wind takes, nor how a body is formed. He also realized that in the same way one cannot understand how God works.
Although the Bible does show their are a few principles that God always works on, such as love and forgiveness, there are many things that a person cannot fully understand. God works in one way with a person in a situation, and in a completely different way with another person in the same situation. He heals one way with one person and in a different way with another.
God is above all and in complete control. He is beyond fully understanding. However, one can know that God is in control and does what is best.
Holding on that trust is what can give a person peace and comfort in His life. The greatest thing a believer can do is trust that God knows what He is doing, rather than striving to fully understand Him.
God will work in many different ways in your life. Each situation may reveal a different way that God works. Do not fight to understand God’s ways or refuse to trust His ways when you do not understand them. Just accept what God is doing and trust Him.
If you could fully understand God, you would be God, but since you are not God, you cannot fully understand Him. Instead of doubt and confusion, trust Him as you trust that your body will function and grow the way it is supposed to.
I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus offers you; that you will not fear the way God works in your life; that you will trust the way God is working; that you will know that God is working out the best for you; and that you will know God loves you.
Job 37:5 Beyond Understanding
God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. Job 37:5
Curiosity into things is something that man has always had. He wants to understand how things work or why they work the way that they do. For many people they are fascinated by how things work and they begin to question it.
It is out of desire to understand the mysteries of life that many of the discoveries have been made. Some are very simple, such as how something might taste, while other things are extremely complex, such as the breakdown of molecules and how they work in a body.
While millions of things have been discovered, there are also many things that remain a mystery. Some of the things that have been discovered, have also been changed over the years with greater discovery of that item.
Elihu points out that God does things that is beyond understanding. What God was doing in Job’s life was even beyond his understanding. God was doing a great thing, though no one could see it, or understand what He was doing at the time it was occurring.
It is easy to see how great God is when one thinks about the complexities of this life and earth. How does God sustain everything on this earth, down to the smallest particles of life and matter? No one can fully understand this.
Then it gets even more complex with how God works in the life of a person. God allows things in his life to mold and shape the person into one like Jesus. God uses both good and bad things to change a person into the person he is meant to be. This is beyond the understanding of people, yet it is marvelous what God is doing.
As you put your trust in God, trust what He is doing and allowing in your life. Do not fight God, but turn to Him and hold on to Him. Know that what He is doing and allowing is what is best for your life.
The allowance of struggle and destruction in the life of Job ends with blessings beyond measure. God may use things that do not make sense to you in order to make you like Jesus. As He does this, remember that His ways of doing things is beyond anything you can think or imagine, yet it is the best way.
If He can build and sustain this universe, He can build and sustain you.
I pray today that you will see God’s hand in your life; that you will trust God’s work in your life; that you God will reveal His work in your life; and that you will not fear God’s work in your life.
