Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11
Ownership of something is desired of most people. They want to own something. People want things to be theirs and not anyone else’s.
This type of desire starts as a young child wanting a toy to be his own and not anyone else’s. He will often refuse to share it, because it is his. As a teen-ager, the boy then wants a car of his own, because everyone else has their own car. He desires to get around on his own and not have to rely on parents or friends. Adults desire an unlimited group of things that they want for their own.
Having ownership of something means that one is in control of it, it is his.
As David was getting ready to die, he gave God some praise. He realized who God is and how great he is. As David saw that, he also realized that everything in heaven and on earth belongs to God.
Understanding that God owns everything can help the believer. It starts off with helping when he loses something. People lose things all the time, and it is not just misplacement here, it is the item is taken away for some reason. Positions come and go, but God is the one with power and position. Knowing that God owns everything helps the believer know that the item was not his anyways.
Along with that, it helps the believer when he is in need of something. God owns everything that a person needs and can provide it as needed. God is a generous God and desires to give His people good things, both physical and non-physical things. Anything that is needed, He is more than willing to supply. One just needs to trust Him for it.
You may be struggling in the area of things. There are things that you have lost and there are things that you need. Instead of focusing on what you lost or need, focus on God. Give Him praise for everything He has already blessed you with.
Realize that those things were and are not yours anyways. Everything belongs to God, whether it is physical or non-physical things.
Give God praise today because He owns everything. Then trust Him for your needs.
I pray today that you will know who God is; that you will give God praise for what He has given you; that you will trust God in what He takes from you; and that you will see God’s hand of provision in your life for all of your needs.
“All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:47
All over the world there are different types of battles occurring. Soldiers are in physical battles against some enemy, risking their lives. The soldier is not the one who chose to go to battle, but some higher authority in their government, he is just following orders. The battle is not his, but his government’s.
Individual people are battling many types of sickness and poverty, yet most did not choose that path or have a cause in it. Others are battling people who are treating them badly. It is not their choice, but it is still a battle.
As David brought food to his brothers, he came up to a battle that was occurring. He did not start the battle or even choose for the battle to happen, yet, he became a part of it. David went up against Goliath, because He knew whose battle it really was. Goliath was not fighting people, but God. It was God’s battle and God would have to win it.
Every believer is in a battle for their own soul and for the souls of other people around the world. This battle is greater than any individual, any church, or any group of believers, it is a battle that had begun in heaven with Satan against God. It is a battle against sin.
No one is able to win this battle against sin on their own. This is a battle that belongs to God. God had won that battle when Jesus died and the cross and rose from the dead. He conquered sin and death for all eternity, for anyone who accepts it.
Just as David realized the battle was not his to win, you must also realize that the battles you are facing in your life are not yours to win, but God’s.
Allow God to guide your weapons against sin to overcome the sin in your life and around you. Allow God to break down the enemy’s strongholds in your life and in the lives of those around you.
God will use you to win the battle, but it is by His power, His strength, His wisdom and His ability, not yours. Go forward bravely into battle knowing God will win the battle for you. It is His battle.
I pray today that you will know God’s power; that you will know God’s heart; that you will know God will fight the battle for your soul; and that God will help you win every battle in your life.
To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it. Deuteronomy 10:14
Ownership is something that most people take some pride in. A young couple take great pride when they begin to own their first home. Teen boys take pride in their first car that they can purchase. These things and many more things are what people are proud of, because they own it.
Along with physical objects, people believe that they own their own lives. They can do with their lives what they want, in any way that they desire. As a whole around the world, ownership of a person is not acceptable.
Once a person owns something, he feels as though it is his and no one else’s to touch without permission. With ownership, people feel that they can do with that object whatever they desire. It belongs to them and no one else.
While people may physical have possession of something, in reality, it does not belong to them. Moses wrote that everything in the heavens, and on this earth belongs to God. Since God has created everything, it does belong to Him and He can do with everything, just as He desires.
The world does not want to believe that God owns everything. And many believers do not always act as though God owns everything. They hold onto things, when God is trying to get them to let go.
Along with God’s ownership of things, He also owns the believer. The believer is no longer his own person, but God’s. This means God can do what He wants with the believer’s life any time He desires. The good news is that God is love and will not do anything that is not done in love, in the best interest of the believer.
As a believer, you must remember that God owns you and everything you have. You are not your own and nothing you have is really yours. Those things have been given on loan from God to be used for His glory.
Be willing to let God use you and what He has given you for His kingdom. Do not hold onto your physical things or your life, as to shrink back and not be used for God’s glory and kingdom.
Trust God with everything, since He owns it all anyways.
I pray today that you will allow God to own your life; that you will allow God to use you for His kingdom; that you will allow God to use your things for His glory; and that you will trust God with your life.
