Revelation 4:11 God Is To Get The Glory, Honor And Power

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:11

All throughout history various people have risen up and were given glory, honor and/or power. These things were given for different reasons. Most often people have reached for their own glory, honor and power.

While not everyone seeks these things, there are many that do. They are willing to do what it takes to get the glory, honor and power. Some do it with good works, while others grab it by force.

John gets a picture of heaven in which some elders are around the throne of God. They lay down their crowns and give God praise, admitting that He is worthy of all glory, honor and power.

As men strive to get glory, honor and power, most do not truly deserve any of it. Man’s glory, honor and power are only temporary and can only be justified in certain ways. Most often these are grabbed at by selfish means, rather than truly earned.

God is the one who has created everything that exists. Nothing is on this earth by random chance, but was created by God’s choice and doing. Since God has created everything, He is also worthy to receive all the glory and honor for what He has done.

Along with the glory and honor, He is to receive all power, because He, only, has absolute power over everything.

At times when the believer is given some glory, honor or power, he is to turn that over to God. To hold on to it himself is being selfish and refusing to admit that it was God who did it in and through him, not himself.

It is only by God’s grace that a believer, or anyone, can do anything at all.

As you go through your days and accomplish different tasks, realize that it was God who gave you that ability. Give Him the praise for what you accomplished.

Do not be like the world striving to grab all the glory, honor and power for yourself, but give them all to God. You are the servant, not the Master. He, alone, is the one who deserves everything.

How are you handing God back all the glory, honor and power in your life?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know that God is in control of everything; that you will give God all the glory, honor and power; that you will allow God to have power over your life; and that you will be a servant of God.

Mark 12:30 All About Love

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30

The world is very quick to point out that people need to love each other. They are even faster at saying it to a believer.

Yet the world has a warped sense of what it means to love. According to the world it is love to allow someone to choose to murder (abortion) a baby. It is love to allow someone to live however they want, even in death-sentenced sin.

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with every part of one’s life.

Many in the church are quick to talk about love, to love God and to love others. However, they talk about love in the same way as the world does, love while allowing for sin.

Loving God with everything within one’s self means that God is put absolutely first in every area of life. It is denying self and living as Jesus lived–holy in every area of life–thoughts, words and actions. In other words–obey God in everything.

It is doing everything one can to turn away from sin. It is doing everything one can to encourage others to turn from sin and turn to serve God. It is allowing God to direct every word, step, action and thought as He sees fit to be needed.

Living like this is not easy. It is denial of self and putting God first. The world and those thinking like the world will not like it and will rebel against it.

Every believer who chooses to love God with everything in him will know the abundant life that Jesus promised. He will see the power of God manifested in his life everywhere he goes.

The commandment Jesus gave to those questioning Him also is given to you. Jesus is also telling you that you must love God with every ounce of your being, physically and spiritually.

As with every person, there are areas you can love God better in. There are areas in your life that you are still holding onto sin and this world that prevents you from loving God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. Give those areas up to God and love Him. It will be worth it all.

Are you loving God with all that is within you?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will love God with all that is in you; that you will give your whole life to loving God; and that you will know and see God’s great love for you.

Revelation 4:11 God is Worthy

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:11

As the living creatures are worshipping God, so are the elders. They continually, day and night, state this verse about God being worthy.

They first state that He is worthy to receive glory. This glory is the fame and recognition of who He is and what He has done. No one in all of history can state that they have created everything by their will and word. Only God has the position.

You have your being because God has willed you to have it. Give God the glory for your existence by telling others about Him and what He has done for you.

Next, they give God honor. This is placing high value on God. It is lifting Him up by telling of what He has done and giving Him that high position that no one else can take.

Think about how valuable God is to you. Some will say that He has nothing to do with them. According to the Scriptures the only reason you exist is because of God. Are you enjoying life? Do you want to be alive? If so, than honor God, because without Him you would not have any life at all.

Finally they give God all power. God created everything you see. How much power does it take to do that? Man cannot create anything from nothing, but that is exactly what God did. He deserves the power.

You may recognize that God has the power of creation, but have you given God the power over your life? Have you given God the ability to choose what you do or do not do?

Many people have no problems with God have power in creation, but they do have problems with Him having power in their life. They want to be like the prophets of the Bible, but do not want to lose the control of their life.
Give God all control in your life. He is worthy of it.

Today give God all the glory, honor and power in and for everything in your life. He earned this position by being God and creating everything there is.

I pray today that you will give God the glory due Him; that you will give God the honor due Him; that you will give God the power due Him; that you will allow yourself to be completely controlled by God; that God will reveal more of Himself to you; and that God will use you to build His kingdom.
