Ephesians 6:10 Be Strong In His Power

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10

Men love to have strength. Many will work out physically to build up their strength and to look strong. They want to be able to do the impossible on their own.

While many are able to build their strength up to amazing levels, most are not able to do it. And even with great strength, there is often many shortcomings in their strength and abilities. No matter how strong someone is, there is usually someone who is stronger that comes along.

After Paul gave some practical instructions to the believers on how to live as a believer, he gives some final thoughts. He tells them that after all of this, they are to be strong in the Lord and in His power.

While it feels great to have great strength, a person’s strength and abilities will often come to an end. There is only so much that a person can do until they begin to fail or fall short.

No one wants to hear that they don’t have the strength to do what needs to be done, they want to be in control of their own lives. However, as a believer, one is not in control of his own life. And he realizes that he does not have the strength needed to accomplish ever task set before him.

People get tired and wear out or burn out when they do things on their own.

Believers are to get their strength from God. God has infinite power and strength that He offers to everyone who trusts in Him. As God calls a person to a task, He will provide everything that a person needs to accomplish it. This means He will give the strength and power to do what needs to be done.

God may have called you to what looks and feels like an impossible task. You may be feeling overwhelmed and worn out from the task, with no strength to continue.

Look to God for your strength. Find joy in the salvation that He has blessed you with. That joy will tap into the eternal strength and power of God, giving you all that you need to keep moving forward in completing the tasks He has given you.

Do not rely upon your own strength and abilities, but upon God’s strength and abilities.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the strength of God in your life; that you will know the power of God in your life; that you will rely upon God for needed strength and power; and that God will do great things through you.

Haggai 2:4 Be Strong And Work

‘But now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadek, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work. For I am with you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. Haggai 2:4

Work is something that most people have to do. Many people do not really love to work, but do it because they have to. With this mindset, many will do as little work as possible to get what they want.

Instead of desiring to work, most people desire to be able to play. Work is only an ‘evil’ necessity for some. This also causes a person to wear down quickly and lose heart and motivation when working on a job.

God tells Joshua and Zerubbabel to be strong and work as they began to work on rebuilding God’s temple. He told them that He would be with them as they worked.

In the beginning, when God set Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He had placed them there to work the land, caring for the plants and animals. Man was created to work. Since that time, man has fallen and sin has entered the world. Selfishness has risen and men do not want to work. Yet, man still needs to work.

The greatest work a man can do is the work of God. While Zerubbabel was working on building a physical temple for God, believers, today, can work on building the spiritual temple for God. This temple is the individual himself and the kingdom of God with more people becoming believers.

Every believer is to be His witness and to disciple new people in what it means to follow and serve God. This can be a hard work, but they are to remain strong because God is with them.

God will be with you as you do the work He has called you to do. His Holy Spirit will strengthen and guide you in how to live for Him more and more, turning away from sin and becoming more like Jesus. The Holy Spirit will also give you the words to speak to draw others to a saving knowledge and relationship with Jesus.

This is the work God has called you to do, regardless of what work you also do to pay for your bills. Do not allow yourself to be weak and falter, but be strong in the Lord and continue to do His work.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will reveal to you the work He wants you to do; that you will be encouraged to do His work daily; that God will fill you with His strength and power; and that God will do great things through you to build His kingdom.
