Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: “No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.” And so the people were restrained from bringing more, because what they already had was more than enough to do the work. Exodus 36:6-7
Money and materials is something that is needed no matter who the person is or what organization it is. The different organizations of this world all need money to make things happen, to be able to do what is needed to be done.
Throughout the year a person will receive many requests to help provide for different organizations. The help is often in financial provision, while others may include at times physical things or physical help–workers. Very few groups can say that they have enough to meet all of their needs at the time.
As the Israelites were traveling in the wilderness, God instructed Moses to have the tabernacle built as a place of worship to Him. In order for the place to be built, there had to be supplies. These supplies were to be provided by the people.
The request for supplies was put out. No one was forced to give, it was all by individual choice. The people were excited to give and gave. They gave so much, that the request to stop giving had to be given.
Some people today often complain that churches and missionaries are always asking for money. Although the needs for finances cannot always be seen as something for building God’s kingdom, many are. Believers are to give generously with a willing and joyful heart.
If every person gave generously to the needs of the church, missionaries, and other believers, most needs could be easily met. The needs could be met well enough, that the need for more would lessen.
No matter how much you give, you cannot out give God. God has poured out many blessings on you and every believer. These blessings are to passed on to others, and not hoarded to one’s own self.
Take a look at your church, missionaries and other God-led organizations and see what they are in need of. Give what you can to help meet their needs as they work to build God’s kingdom.
If you, along with every other believer would give generously, the needs could be met in abundance. How is your giving today?
I pray today that you will see how God is providing for you; that you will give as God has given to you; that you will give generously to help build God’s kingdom; and that you will see God’s work through your giving.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8
All over the world there are people who have accumulated many things. Some have accumulated large dollar amount items, with extreme wealth, while others just accumulate lower cost items. In most of the cases, both the wealthy and the not so wealthy, the items are accumulated for self.
The world looks at one being successful by measuring the amount of items that has been accumulated over time. The more a person has, the better he is.
Having things is not a problem, however, they become a problem when they are only used for one’s own self.
This type of problem can occur among believers also. God is a God who loves to be generous and pour out many blessings of provision. He does not pour out just enough for what a person needs, but abundantly more than what is needed.
There is a purpose in God’s being generous. That purpose is so that the person receiving can pour out generously into someone else’s life. God helps the believer, so that the believer can help someone else, not so that he can hoard it all to himself.
All the things that a person can accumulate in this world, cars, money, houses, clothes, will only last for a short time. They are temporary. However, during this short time on life, those things can be used to help meet the needs of other people, both believers and non-believers.
Paul had just talked about a believer needs to be a cheerful, generous giver. This is so that God can continue to bless the believer with more, because He knows that believer will in turn bless someone else with what he has.
God is giving you everything that you have so that you can meet the needs of others as He meets your needs. God can meet all of your needs in miraculous ways of His own provision or through others as you are generous with what He has blessed you with.
As you meet the needs of others, you are abounding in every good work. You are showing God’s love to others, both believers and those of this world.
Do not allow yourself to become stingy with what God has given you, pass it on to others.
I pray today that you will see what God has blessed you with; that God will show you ways to meet the needs of others; that you will see God’s abundant provision; and that God will help you abound in every good work.
How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you. Psalm 31:19
Looking around the world, it can be difficult to see good things if the focus is not correct. Everywhere a person looks, one can see crime, war, hatred and sinful acts or promotion of sin. Some may wonder if there is any good left.
Then, add in the problems of just everyday life that many people go through. People going through life-threatening sickness, homelessness, no job, split families and bills past due.
Some of the problems are ‘smaller’ such as being late for work, tire blowing out, a messy house, dishes to get done, meals to plan, and children fighting.
As one sees all the problems in the individual life and in the world, it is sometimes difficult to see what God is doing. God has plans for each person and they are good plans.
The only way to get those good things is to believe in and follow God. Those who serve God with all of their heart are the ones who will see the good things God has for them.
The amount of good things that God has stored up for each believer is beyond count. Those things are also beyond imagination, some of which will be revealed in this life. Others which will be revealed in heaven.
As you trust and fear God with all of your life, God will be able to pour out those good things on you. You cannot trust in the things, this world or yourself. You have to take up refuge in God and trust in Him alone.
Regardless of how good a day you have or how bad a day you have, in the end you will have and be with God for all eternity. That is the ultimate good thing God has for you.
However, in this life, God will pour out good things on you. You may see a good sunrise, or sunset, give you a good friend, a good church, a reason to laugh or smile, food on the table, and the list goes on. God will never be short on giving good things, if you trust in Him and not the things.
I pray today that you will know and trust in Jesus; that you will have a proper fear of God; that God will open your eyes to the good things you have been given; and that you will take up refuge in God alone.
