Pray for Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea is a small island nation in the Pacific that is predominantly Christian in belief. Although it is mainly Christian in belief, very few have the Bible in their language and fewer can read the Bible. Around 260 Bible translation projects are currently in the works. Out of all those only about 200 have the New Testament translated into the language of the people and of those, only about 12 have the entire Bible in their language.
Many of the people do not know how to read, so even having a Bible still comes with a challenge.
Widespread corruption in the government keeps resources unavailable to bring about training and meeting of needs that the people need. Violent crime continues to rise. The extreme ethnic diversity keeps people from uniting together to bring about an end to many of the problems being faced in the nation.
Even though the majority claim Christianity, very few are discipled in what that means and witchcraft is on the rise throughout the nation again. Leaders need to be raised up that can disciple the people in God’s word and truth.
One of the needs to reach the people with discipleship is pilots to fly into various areas. Very few places are accessible without a plane.
Points to pray:
Translation of the Bible
Discipleship in the church
Training to read
Good leadership in the government
Unity of the various tribes
