Psalm 129:2 Troubled, But Not Destroyed

Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth; yet they have not prevailed against me. Psalm 129:2

No matter who a person is or what position a person holds, there comes time in which that person goes through afflictions or troubles. There are good days and bad days. When the affliction is strong enough, many people are knocked down by it. The trouble wins in their lives, rather than overcoming the trouble and winning the battle. Dozens of different types of medicines are prescribed to help a person get through the affliction in one’s life.

The psalmist writes that there have been many times when others have afflicted him since his youth, but they had never won the battle.

Life will often have times in which it appears that if anything can go wrong, it does. Trouble after trouble keeps mounting up and will wear a person down. This is just in general in life.

Then there are people who step into one’s life and cause even more problems. They ridicule, cut down, speak against one trying to tear that person down. Having this occur will often cause a person to break down and lose the battle, giving into the afflictions being placed upon one’s back.

As Jesus walked upon the earth, many different people ridiculed Him and tried to tear Him down. Eventually they even tried to murder Him to stop Him. Keeping His focus upon the Father gave Him strength to prevail against His enemies.

Disciples of Jesus will go through the same afflictions. The world will do everything it can to stop a disciple from belief in God and following His will.

Instead of allowing the world to win, the believer must be a true disciple of Jesus and trust in God’s power and authority, leaning on Him for strength and victory in the end.

Going through your life you will face many different afflictions and troubles. Satan does not want you to succeed in your walk with God and will try to tear you down and destroy you. Keep in mind all that Jesus walked through and that you now have Him and His Holy Spirit with you to give you the needed strength to keep moving forward.

Walk in the victory Jesus provides and don’t let the afflictions and troubles prevail against you. In Christ you can and will win.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the victory Jesus provides you; that troubles will not win in your life; and that God will give you strength to stand up against the attacks of the world.
