I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; incline Your ear to me, ad hear my speech. Psalm 17:6
In calling on someone, there is always an expectation of what will happen. That expectation is that that the person will hear and respond. The methods of calling on someone usually by phone or in person, though there can be many other methods of calling. Regardless of the method of calling a person, the expectation is the same, hearing and response.
Although one may call upon someone, that person does not always hear. There can be too much noise to be able to hear. Or they may be too busy to stop and hear that they are being called. With cell phones today, there may be times when the person is in a ‘no service’ area and never know they missed the call.
Response does not always occur, because they didn’t know they were called, or they don’t know what to say.
David is calling out to God because He knows God will answer him. He asks God to listen and answer his prayer.
While people may get a busy signal or not even hear that they have a call, God always hears every call. Any time a person calls out to God, whether a believer or not, He hears it immediately. There is no waiting, or busy line.
God will also always answer a person. That answer will always be along the line of ‘no’, ‘wait’, or ‘yes’. He never ignores the person calling out to Him. In fact, God loves it when His children call to Him. He is a Father who wants to be involved in the lives of His children. In order to do that, they must be willing to talk to Him.
Although you may no longer have parents or they may not want to talk with you, God is willing to listen and talk with you. He is waiting by the phone waiting for you to call Him up.
The great thing about calling out to God, there is no ‘no service’ area. There is no busy signal. There is no ‘business is closed’ message. There is no answering service. You do not need a cell phone or some other electronic device.
God is as near as your voice can speak. He is right there beside you waiting for a call from you. Call on Him today and He will hear and answer you.
I pray today that you will call to God everyday; that you will hear God’s voice when He speaks to you; that you will know God is listening to you; that you will know God will always answer you; and that you will know the joy of talking to God.
