Pray for Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is an island nation just off of the coast of India. For many centuries it had been known for tolerance and non-violence, but that has since changed. Buddhist extremism has caused a lot of violence against other beliefs. Persecution comes in waves against Christians in the nation. Recently there were 250 churches damaged or destroyed due to the violence. Underneath a lower level, Islam has come into the nation and started its own forms of persecution against all other religions.
Due to nominalism and liberalism, Christianity has declined over the years. Buddhists are actively trying to proselytize believers from the Christian church to turn to their beliefs.
Throughout the Christian churches in the nation, there is a lot of division. Many have different views and fight against each other, rather than having a unified front against false beliefs.
Most of the churches are only in the capital and major cities. Rural towns have very few churches. Ministers need to be raised up to be willing to go to these rural areas to reach the lost.
Points to pray:
Unity among the churches
Strength in the persecution
New leaders to be raised up in the churches
Outreach to the rural communities
Evangelistic push to reach the lost
